Well, maybe writing a book on the history of the Jolla tablet will not have much legs. Besides, as I understand it, the tablet doesn't have much of a future anyways. How about, so all is not lost, and to tie things together, that this thread be renamed, "Screaming Cyber Monkeys from Outerspace:Tablet Tantrums". Or maybe just "Tablet Tantrums."

The history is always written by the winners so we have to make sure that someone with a jolla tablet from jolla doing the work. Not some random dude waiting for refund or china scamlet.

There are no winners in this thread. History will be written by what is accepted and purchased (and received) by the masses. Not the fringe enthusiasts that typically are unhappy with everything.

Chear-up. We Are creating(by funding) stuff for the masses. That should count for something.

But yeah products never go our way. That's a fact by now :D

Oh, I'm quite cheerful. I just do not wish to invest into any product that doesn't take into account how well it may be adopted. Too many decisions around these products that we may/may not like just do not include people worthy of making decisions.

Great weekend! Hope your were as rich as mine!

Anyways, after a week of silence refund could possibly pop up again.

Hope that Jolla managed to push through atleast 1 international transfer.

Juhani's blog details the opening of the SFOS translation project which is pretty neat (I already checked that over the weekend) but do people comment on that?

No, of course they don't. Now why does this even surprise me?

We can invite them to join TMO and this thread and Dave will get a few friends to play together. ;)

Why do you the think I said Jolla must refund all for years? Becouse it will overshadow every little move they are trying to do.

I'm actually supriced that you are supriced :D

Maybe because this project should have been open from the begining? Maybe because people asked for this project to be open for a while now? Or even maybe because the Jolla is the one who would mostly benefit from it and despite first two questions it's done only now?

Same as there would be no "cheers" from me if they opensource what they promised more than 3 years ago.

Yes, Dave. We all know that your little mind has room for only one thing at a time but the rest of us have moved on months ago.

Good for you.

You might think you have done that. But since you're posting here is it possible that you are mistaken? Never mind, don't answer that. (Unless you feel you want to)

Haha...One thing at the time?? Yes, That is the story of the men. Your wife never tells you that? ;)

A scam in my books is when somebody does not deliver because of malicious intent; all that could be done to save the project was done and people really put their best effort on it. Failure was due to external influences that coluld not be mitigated.

I'm not overly bothered about their emotions or the way they retrospectively frame their intent, the fact is that their paychecks got cut, but I didn't get a tablet. That's a scam. That money went from my pocket, was laundered through a crowdfunding site, was issued in a check to their employees, and went to their respective landlords. The fact that they went back to the well again and again demolishes any positive framing that I could possibly rationalize. I would be shocked if anyone would invest to pay off all of that old debt, unless they were expecting hockey stick growth (which no one in their right mind would expect.)

If I get the money back, that would be nice; but if I don't it's just a reminder that other people have different ethical standards, to the point that they can rip me off, spend the money on themselves, and honestly feel like victims of circumstance at the same time.

It doesn't do me any good to whine about it, and in the grand scheme of things it's a small amount of money, so I'm probably never going to post about it again. I am annoyed by the constant personal attacks on Dave999 for calling it as he sees it, and as I see it. I am entertained by his complete imperviousness to the criticism, and that he still manages to keep the mood light. If this were a board game being crowdfunded, and it didn't ship because all of the money went to the game developer's mortgage, nobody would have a problem recognising that there was a serious ethical breech here.

At the least, open source the work. Is that still in the cards? I remember reading a log of one of their crisis meetings that mentioned the possibility.

pichlo, I haven't moved on any more than if somebody robbed me in the street for $200, and your personal insults demean the entire thread.

Same here!

Got the mail, still no money but expect them to show up any second now.

I want to thank Jolla for realizing that refund was the only options in this scam and also want thank everyone here that supported the free choice for the supporters. We couldn't have pulled this off without eachother. Let's hope you all get your money soon...er!

We're now half way and I'm looking forward to dance with You all in this thread until mission is completed.

Cheers!

Yeah, what Jolla should have done instead is put the IGG funds on hold and file for bankruptcy couple of months earlier. Makes perfect sense.

Aha! The shocking truth behind this entire sorry endeavor has now become plain: Dave999 maneuvered behind the scenes to torpedo Jolla's Tablet project, in an effort to enhance his own status in the social media. He obviously had insider help in this, as he now openly admits that he's received a payoff from the company. (I myself have as yet received no such "refund", and therefore can only assume that all you folks who have must also have been in on the plot...)

You are not far from the truth but I have no permission to disclose the details about this plot. But What what I can say is...I think the Russian government is involved!

Yes indeed! To explain this, we need to delve into the theory of conspiracy theories, to examine this phenomenon from the point of view of a true Conspiracy Theoretician. As we all know, a conspiracy is normally created when an individual or group wishes to keep certain facts or events hidden from the public. However, the public at large seems to enjoy discovering conspiracies, and will create fictional conspiracies even in the absence of true conspiracies, just to have something to discuss. This, of course, leads to the suggestion that there is in fact a conspiracy in effect to create new conspiracy theories; and, thus, we reach the theory of the Recursive Conspiracy Theory, a self-perpetuating series of theories of conspiracies to create new conspiracy theories.

In short: yeah, this can keep going on forever... :)

Then there's the matter of the soil around major American cities, like Des Moines, for instance. Nothing grows there because the tablets have been buried there to build the landing strips.

Also, still no.refund for me yet...
