My Partner / lover / Girlfriend /Trainee Wife has received her refund. Some how she managed to order a Tablet before me? I think she was about order 2100, I was order about 2200 . Nothing for me yet.

Re: The Future of Jolla's Tablet

I didn't get any notification from jolla or Paypal about the refund, so it's worth keeping an eye on your paypal account (or in my case the card that was linked to paypal account)

But they are coming, slowly... which is better than soon I guess!
I'm waiting for the big countdown/up to round 2... :p

Same here. I haven't got any emails but now that I checked my PayPal account it shows Jolla has also refunded me yesterday. I would have preferred a Jolla tablet instead :)

Got $124.50 from Jolla Asia Limited deposited to my PayPal account sometime last night. So no surprise tablet for me. Oh well, didn't expect that but could still hope until I saw something show up.

ed. Just now got the email.

Exactly how many tablets worth is that?

Re: The Future of Jolla's Tablet

The money was estimated to keep Jolla alive during the year. The second part will appear within this year. Will be intresting to see how Jolla wants to play this. Let the year run out, spend the money or break another word.(yes, I know what they said but they have the money now) or simply do something revolutionary and refund us in June and follow up with some licensed hardware in August.

Thx,

Fear not! I have already put a plan in motion. When we have defeated this scam we have money to spend. Big money!

What could be better than a thread about jPhone ll and send the money back to Jolla and actually get something in return... Buissniess like real companies do, you know.

I have a signed a two year deal with TMO. (But don't tell anyone)

After that I will probably retire! At that point I have more money than I ever need...

Looking back and to this point, would you consider the Jolla tablet to be a good relationship test? :D

Actually, this is not what they said. They promised the second part within a year, not this year. So you are not going to get money until 2017.

From the latest press release:

"The project affected the most with the financial challenges was the Jolla Tablet. As previously communicated, Jolla will only be able to fulfill a small number of tablet shipments to its crowdfunding backers, and has decided to refund all the remaining Jolla Tablet contributions done via Indiegogo. The refunds will be split into two rounds due to financial constraints: round one will see half of the refund paid out now, and round two will see the rest paid out within a year of round one - depending on Jolla’s financial status."

Also the original blog post:

" Due to the financial constraints this will happen in two parts: half of the refund will be done during Q1/2016, and the other half within a year, our financial situation permitting."

Yes, the info was communicated via blog Jan 28 2016 so we could give Jolla 28 extra days. However, I WOULD see it as a bad sign if no money appears before December.

Plus, why wait until you run out of money ;)

Everyone needs to calm down on this topic, especially Dave (you will earn some days off, you know what I mean)! And Dave, you can sue as much as you like, a crowdfunding stays a crowdfunding and an attached device remains a promise, so does a refund.

If Jolla had gone bankrupt the other day you'd have seen nothing. Now you see some people getting tablets and some getting refunds and some still waiting, where is the problem with that? You spent money for a useless gadget (yes, tablets are useless gadgets!) and now you are all on the rails cause of a couple of hundred bucks?! You spent more time discussing, blaming, shitstorming about it than the tablet is even worth, even if you find a job that pays less than 1€/h!

My 2c!

well, you decide....

I saw the Nokia N900 first, but she got one on contact before me.
She saw the Jolla phone first, but I actually brought one
She order the Tablet first, but I have one, I was lucky enough to buy through the Chinese Market

We are still together... :)

And it's not the money thing that has ever annoyed me, but the lies! Jolla has come out with so much bull **** in the last year that they don't deserve my contribution/donation/hardearnedpennies.

Imagine a lonesome Jolla employee sitting in a small chamber proceeding refund after refund manually

If they produced and packed the tablets the same way it's crystal clear why only so few were finally send out ...

On the other hand that slows down life and gives us time to relax and spend time in exceptional threads like this one

Interesting. Does the second half of May count as Q1 in Jollaland?

Knowing you, you will blame the Pope but all you need is a little patience. It takes time to beam money to the Moon. Or to some Eastern European countries. The last time I sent money to Russia by PayPal it was stuck in 'pending' for over a week but it arrived eventually.

Re: The Future of Jolla's Tablet

All talk about scam and other angry things aside... my question is what will folks go to next?

Ubuntu Touch dropped the ball by going with Mediatek (read: cheap), Intel seems to have gotten out of the mobile sector almost fully so x86 on these things seems unlikely until the m-series goes low energy enough to stop being a netbook level (ex. Intel m3-6Y30) - read: not likely for quite some time.

Embedded Linux is doing quite fine in our routers, whatnot. But it's having a serious, serious problem being adapted into a consumer friendly deliverable that works the way a wide gamut of folks would adopt readily. The terminal lovers to the Facebook game players and all points in-between aren't being approached by anything that we'd like wherein we'd be yet another clique/niche.

The Jolla offered an option that doesn't fully exist yet. One that speaks to geeks, mom's and whomever else Android and iOS speaks to.

Or have I missed something? And I don't mean some esoteric something that only will sell 200 or so. Or isn't coming anytime soon. What options really are readily available today? What are you guys jumping to embrace?

What's not a scam? There, I think I got something for everybody...

sadly, until jolla makes/commisions a handset worth owning, i am reduced to buying ultrabook style laptops (such as the samsung series 9), and installing linux on them (my own flavour of choice being suse Leap).

oh, and android for my sins. :(
i do have a nexus 5 running cyanogen 13.1, but my huawei P8 has a much better camera....

Ubuntu OFC, Tizen as well they need all the support they can get. And Jolla as soon as they refund us.

cvp 2016-05-20 08:22

Re: The Future of Jolla's Tablet

the thing is, no support for jolla = no refund. Support Jolla and buy in the future the Intex/Turing Smartphone. Jolla get Money.... money what yours is ;)

Ubuntu= Nope! Less apps than Jolla!
Tizen? Nope! Tizen looks like Android...boring!

I'm still hoping Jolla will announce a tablet partnership with some hardware vendor. In the meantime I'm waiting what Goole's coming Nexus tablet models will provide because the battery of my old tablet is starting to show its age. I want regular and long support cycle for updates so that is why I'm looking for Nexus models.

And I'm continuing to use Jolla phone1. TRI's Sailfish phone is physically too large so I will probably skip it.

Note from sender, Jolla Asia Limited:

This is the 1st half of your refund amount. Thanks for supporting the Jolla Tablet project.

Re: The Future of Jolla's Tablet

Right now I've pretty much given up on finding a device that is close to my N900 linux wise. So for now, my guess is that my refund, if I ever get it, will serve as a down payment towards a Note 6. If the rumoured specs hold up or are remotely close it will be about the best out there in terms of hardware. I like using pen features and Samsung cameras are quite good and getting better. Launchers are available that can be customized to give it, roughly, a feel like the N9 or Jolla phone if so desired. Android is more tolerable than it used to be and I can run all standard linux commands on it using chroot based approaches although you are limited pretty much to the chrooted environment that is set up. At least I have access to files on devices internal storage. Multitasking is not as good as N900 or Jolla phone. The other thing is that Jolla doesn't appear to be that interested in marketing in North America. It's focus seems more towards the east and emerging markets. That's all fine. They are trying to make the best business decision for themselves. I'm just trying to make the best of what options are available to me.

Re: The Future of Jolla's Tablet

Guys, are we still waiting for split screen or do we have moved on to other devices with this feature?

Are we still intressted in collecting the price we won together?

To me they are a must until Jolla have fully refund users. Then they have absolutely no obligation left from the crowdfunding and can move on as they please, other than possibly destroy our user data or atleast not pass it forward.

And btw: money still stuck in pending even if they were withdrawn years ago. Mybee I have to confirm my account or something.

mscion 2016-05-20 15:49

Re: The Future of Jolla's Tablet

For split screen your choices are Samsung (maybe LG or some rooted devices using xposed modules) or next iteration of Android (called Android N for now)

I was never interested in split screen to begin with. Heck, the only time I have more than one app visible at a time on my desktop machines is when I have dual monitors connected to them. :)

Much more interesting to me is the ability to let apps continue to run in the background, something the N900 was almost unique in supporting...

Paypal MUST DIE!!! I am suprised anyone here use that crap as the same time you people say you not wanna use android cause of privacy reasons etc...

Paypal store your personal info on their site and if you wanna remove your account it is impossible if you for example has an invalid old email that does not work anymore.

I have tried several times to remove my account for years.

FU... that company dont use it.

Well. Jolla didnt gave us a lot of choices so you have the options Scamed by Jolla or scamed by PayPal.

...or scam yourself and give Jolla the money. Either way, consider yourself fully scamed.
