Can you provide an exact error? What does the HotSync dialog box report in GVM? What is the error reported in the HotSync Log on the PC?

I have encounted a problem where the GVM reports "Failed (Connection Lost)". And the HotSync log reports:
Code:

System synchronization failed
HotSync Error: Connection is lost  (6410)
HotSync operation complete 06/19/08 19:15:16

I solved this by looking in the log and identifying the last file being processed then using FileZ to view the details of the file and unmarking the "backup" attribute bit. Eventually all the files that were causing trouble were not marked to be backed up and the hotsync completed fine.

Hope this helps,

Robert B.

Check out this review of Garnet VM over at Brighthand. It's a good summary of the emulator.

This is the error I see. I'll try what you say but it was true for any application that I've installed.

That did the trick. Thanks!. I had some problems including having all the applications disappear and I had to reinstall them, but they do work now. The message is pretty cryptic. I gather then that I can't back up the applications I've added?

I loaded Garnet beta 2 just to see if the slingbox player would work (since there isn't one for the n800 yet). The * for the password is normal; its the "security mask" so no one can see your password (because everyone wants to crack into your DVR!). It wouldn't take my password if I entered it wth the soft keyboard; I would get an error saying my password had to be less than 21 characters (which it is). However once I typed it in via grafitti it accepted the password fine.

However it didn't matter - while the audio worked fine, there was no picture, just a black square. I tried a couple of different configuration settings (i.e. display compatibility) but nothing helped.

So, close but no cigar, no backdoor Slingplayer for the Nokia yet.

Hello,
Is there any way to set up external memory in the latest Garnet VM?
I would like to play this game with sound:

Unfortunately the sound files are ogg files that need to be on an external memory card.

Short answer: No. I think the feature is on Access' list for the next release, but it's better to check their FAQ directly. It's certainly a much wished-for feature.

I guarranty that when they implement the card feature Garnet VM will no longer be free. They got to pay the bills some how...

If it actually worked properly it would be worth something.

I would also consider paying for this feature. This is the missing feature that prevents me from using the VM as a real tool. I also like the ability to use more than 64MB(say as large as 4GB) for heap storage:-)
