One quick question.

Is it possible to update NITDroid when you have allready installed it or will it require a reinstall and then a new install?

type the apt-get nitdroid install thingy in the x-terminal and you can see it in in your apps list. systems section to be exact

when i type root in x Terminal I get: root: not found

Reading this: To install via apt-get: You need to have the rootsh package installed from the Application manager so you could run apt-get as root.

I was under the impression I dont need the rootsh package if I want to install from Hildon Application Manager.

Questions

1) Did anyone see the NITDroid installer in Hildon Application Manager without dooing x terminal stuff?

2) why the error when I write root in X terminal? Do I need to install rootsh from extra-devel?

number 2 is working but 3 isn't working...

can't flash kernel, required files not found
guru meditation #00000025.62017712

any ideas how i can remove number 3?

guess, u r using a card greater than 4gb in size. something probably went wrong in the partition i beleive. u would need to wait for an expert to help you more on this.

but in any case, there is no need to panic. don't use option 3 for the time being.

So I downloades rootsh from extra devel

root now works
when I enter apt-get install nitroid-installer I get the following:

Radingin packeage lists ... Done
Building dependenxy tree ... Done
Reading Stage information ... Done
E: Couldn't find package nitroid-installer

Any idea why I get the last line?

yeah! i am using an 8gb. i guess i should stop messing up things now. might as well wait for a way more convenient / safer update for dummies...:D

any idea how to put flash 10 on the browser? i can't find it in the market and it's not built-in as i can't play flash vids...

BTW

I tried with root -> take me to: Nokia-N900-51-1:~#

and

sudo gainroot -> takes me to: /home/user #

can anyone tell me the difference?

I tried with Wifi as well as 3G since sometimes I had the problem that some app-repositories would not be resolved. Both ways did not work.

Try this link:
http://repository.maemo.org/extras-d....6-3_armel.deb

Just downlad it to /home/user/MyDocs.

Then as root type this in xterm:
cd /home/user/MyDocs 'enter'
dpkg -i nitdroid-installer_0.2.6-3_armel.deb 'enter'

Then in xterm still as root type:
nitdroid 'enter'
YES 'enter'

Hope this helps ;)
