dpkg -i /home/user/MyDocs/nitdroid-kernel-2.6.28-07_rc3_armel.deb

reboot
Select new multiboot entry

EDIT: <IGNORE - SILLY QUESTION>Once this is done and it appears in my MultiBoot menu, how does it know to load Nitdroid?</IGNORE - SILLY QUESTION>

Will I have two menu items for Nitdroid, one with the new "nitdroid-kernel-2.6.28-07_rc3_armel.deb" and the other with the old "nitdroid-kernel-2.6.28-06_final1_armel.deb"?

You downgraded your ofono files. Install again N12 without "ofono047_oril008.tar.bz2".

Great. Thanks.

Remember to edit the boot file: leafpad /etc/multiboot.d/11
as per http://wiki.maemo.org/Nitdroid_easy_install_on_EMMC

Yannis, when I run
leafpad /etc/multiboot.d/11 Tap TAB at the bottom of the screen, I get the following line appearing: leafpad /etc/multiboot.d/11-NITDroid-mmcblk0p2-2.6.28.NIT.0 and if I press enter there are no lines in the file. It's empty. I quit out of file without saving. Is that right? I was expecting to see a couple of lines and specically a line mentioning
"ITEM_DEVICE=mmcblk0p2".

My guess is it because the file already exists, there is no need to edit the boot file. Would that be correct? :confused:

Re: [Release] N12 "UMay" - Android GingerBread 2.3.4

My /etc/multiboot.d folder has the following files:

00-Maemo-2.6.28-omap1.item - i.e Maemo
11-NITDroid-mmcblk0p2-2.6.28.NIT.06.item - i.e old kernel
11-NITDroid-mmcblk0p2-2.6.28.NIT.07.item - i.e new kernel

inside those 2 last .items there must be a line like tihs
ITEM_DEVICE=mmcblk0p2

So, don't leafpad at the /etc/multiboot.d/11 (there is no such file as "11")
Just enter those 2 last .item files and change line accordingly.
I learned myself the hard way :-)

@artron

See this post, you need to make sure that the multiboot menu points to the correct location.

This probably has been asked million times, but I cant find answer by searching and there isn't passwd. How to set up root password?

You are right Yannis (thanks). After I booted up I could see the new line "11-NITDroid-mmcblk0p2-2.6.28.NIT.07.item - i.e new kernel" in my menu, but after selecting it it loaded and stopped at "Guru Meditation : Required Files Not Found". So i booted back into Maemo. Switched on SSH, used WinSCP to find the /etc/multiboot.d/ and could see the item 3 and 4 (my two nitdroid kernels). I edited the both in Notepad++ side by side and can see the culprit ITEM_DEVICE=${INT_CARD}p2 I removed my SD card. So I have replaced it with the line ITEM_DEVICE=mmcblk0p2 and it's all good. ;)

u-boot & multiboot works in quite a different way.

I wonder how many of you will actually use phone function after it's usable...

Let me clarify a bit...
Kernel is compatible. But NITDroid expects some initialization that is done by multiboot. Multiboot loads all necessary modules (at least for mouting NITDroid's partition), make depmod, it mounts root, makes maemo's root accessible in /mnt/initfs (yeah, it's needed in order to force nokia's binary crap (DSME, BME, SYSINFOD/CAL) to work)...

I plan to move required logic to NITDroid itself, but this task doesn't have high priority as far as multiboot "just works".
