Re: Latest And Greatest!
Oh man....oh man oh man...
Oh I was torn between which of these were the saner option. Clip A...is your typical M$ user. Clip B...is more akin to the typical IOS user. Just cause they think they are cool....doesn't mean they are. Distracting and entertaining yes. Sane ...hardly Even downright hilarious... Most definitely dangerous. A/ M$ user/owner- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n9AhY_uALas (I must admit I didn't film this...BUT I did see bananna man! One of the most profound moments of my life.) B/ IOS user/owner- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P1cdvtUkxQY Sigh ...it shouldn't be called the MeeGo Pad...it being an Aberration... it should be called the Mungo Pad...frankly...as in "No Mungo! You mustn't kill a customer!" (Monty Python) Kangal I am terribly sorry for spoiling your "Woohoo...I'm on the top of the world!" moment and all. http://s26.postimg.org/4vzn7wexl/12_...6_14_29_AM.png |

MeeGo Pad!
Debian Red! Tailgating on the coat-tails of innovation! Sue I say! Defamation of ...something! Slandering...suchansuch! Fraudulence...! Foisting of a petard they should be hoisted upon! Impersonating a police officer...no wait...Impersonating an operating system! Definitely fraud! Malignant use of wholesome applepieness and whitepicketfencesness. Yarrrrrgh! Boy this is gonna give alotta people the wrong impression ...Deviating criminal behaviour I say! what! what !what! "Kill ....Mungo! ...Kill I say!..." |
Re: Latest And Greatest!
Interesting find that MeeGo Pad. It makes me wonder if development actually started on MeeGo and if so, then the hardware may well be Linux friendly and it could turn out to be a decent, affordable tablet (or even a netbook with the keyboard) for running Linux.
One does have to wonder how they think they can get away with using the MeeGo name, branding and MeeGons. MeeGo may well be dead but the Linux Foundation still owns the MeeGo trademark and I doubt they'd be too pleased about trademark misuse, especially as it's being used to promote and sell a rival OS. If it does turn out to be hacker friendly, maybe they could be made to sell it without the Windows tax if we threaten to sue them for false advertising. :D |
Re: Latest And Greatest!
It would indeed be a hope to run linux on it...what are the odds that it's deliberately crippled tho.?
As far as trademark misuse...high likelihood there. Heck for that matter...you'd think "Debian Red" would have lawyers salivating at the potential suit. I mean how blatant can that get? If I start making really shoddy dishwashers and put my model logo plate "Whirlpool Blue" I'm sure a certain company would be unleashing the lawyers on me. But I must admit I think it a dubious hope at this point that the Meego Pad will run anything meaningfully and hold out hope until proper testing is done. If it will run linux properly ...then yeah...that is a decent price at around $400 for the bells and whistles. But it won't be better than any other full tablet...1.33ghz atom.2gb..one of my toshiba portege tablet/convertible m780's does tons better with 2.4 ghz...and 8gb ram installed. Much cheaper...got 1 for under 275...another for 220 and the last for 240 |

Naaaaww.
Pure coincidence. |
Re: Latest And Greatest!
Methinks perhaps that too many liberties are being taken by scurrilous knaves.

Re: Latest And Greatest!
Quick reply...
Seriously, ask the Linux Foundation about status of "MeeGo" 'trademark'. Did it belong to Nokia? Was it sold to Microsoft? And other small details. Do not leave questions unanswered. Best wishes. |
Re: Latest And Greatest!
Weeellll...
"Linux Foundation “trademarks” include: Linux Foundation LF Linux Standard Base LSB LSB Certified IAccessible2 MeeGo MeeGo logo Software Packet Data Exchange SPDX Tizen Yocto Project" http://www.linuxfoundation.org/about...age-guidelines AND Concerning "Debian Red" and possible infringement... "When You Can NEVER Use the Debian Trademarks Without Asking Permission You cannot use Debian trademarks in any way that suggests an affiliation with or endorsement by the Debian project or community, if the same is not true. You cannot use Debian trademarks in a company or organization name or as the name of a product or service. You cannot use a name that is confusingly similar to Debian trademarks. You cannot use Debian trademarks in a domain name, with or without commercial intent." https://www.debian.org/trademark From their statements (not sure if it is updated to the moment) it appears that there very well are infringements. Big stupid in yur face ones at that. Saying of course some quiet backroom agreement was not made for an allowance of some kind...(which I highly doubt but is possible). So...according to their own fine prints...unless some allowance was expressly permitted.... there is overtly obvious infringement here. There's your answer. Actually talking to human beings may get more detail and specifics. But like any smart fool...I think it is time for me to back out of trajectory and away from the on-coming banana cream pie fight 'tween the lawyers... :D Peace out. |
