Re: Did your N900 ship today continued
Please stop posting quotes and dates until 1. November, because we already know that we are not goint to get our N900s this month.
Btw, i agree that Nokia failed in organization because of inconsistent info and no official statements (when needed). But having Peter here is a huge step forward. |

Re: Did your N900 ship today continued
WTF, I don't understand you people... This has happened with the N95, with the E90 and with the N97... At least this are the ones I remember... Well with the N97 it was worse because they release it and it wasn't ready for the market... And even with E90 they delayed it and until the first firmware upgrade it was bad at the new great things that it brought (GPS, Browser). Hope that the N900 comes with a solid (it will have bugs) software.

I say we find the 300 people who got the N900's at the summit and strong arm them into giving the devices up.

Re: Did your N900 ship today continued
Now, i'd love to know who here believes the N900 will come in novemeber?
Just imagine! Nokia just started a new beta testing round. Phone gets handed out (21 oct?)->Users testing it for a couple of days (say 10 days?)->Nokia corrects these problems (10 Days?)->Start manufacturing process (x days?) I just did a best case scenario too?:) I say late decemeber. Oh dear:p Eikido |

If they'd been originally planning a November release they probably wouldn't have delayed it to deal with the user feedback but having an October one gave them some room to delay a few weeks and still get it out in Q4 2009. A delay to Q1 2010 would be a "big deal" and would need some pretty serious defects to justify. Personally I consider it a good sign and it shows the N900 and Maemo is a big concern for Nokia. If they didn't care one way or the other they'd have shipped it and worried about dealing with feedback later. They obviously want people's first impressions to be positive and to use that intertia to justify more Maemo devices and probably more variations of the N900 platform. |
Re: Did your N900 ship today continued

can't understand all this "nokia takes care" **** in this forum. we didn't get any information from nokia itself. it's just a month more (or 2 or 3) so they don't need to inform there costumers? even every little online shop sends a mail if one product is not available for a long time. |

Never again will I trust their chips. My Xperia X1 was 528Mhz, does that mean the N900 will be only very slightly faster? Nope! Because its like comparing a PIII 1Ghz to a P4 1Ghz to a Core 2 Solo 1Ghz, they are very different beasts performance wise despite the same technical speed. The reason Qualcomm are pushing 1Ghz chips is because their previous generation (as in the Xperia X1) were very poor performers so they need more Mhz to compare to OMAP chips. I wouldn't be at all surprised if a 1Ghz Qualcomm is still slower than the N900. |
Re: Did your N900 ship today continued
N97 mini is released before n900! I thought somebody here had spoken with a nokia rep and said that it won't come out soon maybe dec/jan. I Don't trust nokia reps anymore.

The key word in this being 'only'. First Nokia have to decide what exactly they are going to change/update for the final firmware, then write their changes, then check/test the final firmware, then flash it to the production units before they all get boxed/sealed/despatched. Then there's the carriage time to the suppliers, and finally a release date. The hardware is almost certainly ready to roll. |

Re: Did your N900 ship today continued
Is there any NAM version (using the 850 MHz / 1900 MHz 3g band) of the Nokia N900 expected? if there is one When will be star shipping?
I ask because in my country (Chile) those are the 3g bands used by the mobile telephone companies. The band used in the current version of the N900 (1700 MHz) is expected to be allocated, but the process is just beginning with the companies operating just in the latter 2010. Re: Did your N900 ship today continued
So has Nokia got like thosands of N900 sat on pallets waiting for the final firmware, And a week before they realease it for 3rd or 4th date change they say they have delayed it, ... just perplexes me!!
Most linux distro's for the pc are not final they are always tweaking them, Also Nokia do use the consumers has beta testers all the time, just look at the N96 to start with and now the problems with the N97.. Now i'm a massive fan of nokia, But i just wish they wud just stick to a date and release the bloody thing, it not like they can't update firmware once we got it does it!!! |

But if Nokia does so and release a buggy phone, then you would have the media going "Nokias new piece of crap", reviews would be bad, and the phone makes a bad first impression and then you can figure out the rest. And not to forget about the iPhonetalibans. So actually, in my opinion, Nokia and the Maemo team should take all the time they need to release a fully working bug-free firmware, so for example those iphonetalibans could shut their mouths with their absurd arguments for a piece of crap, iDont. |

Re: Did your N900 ship today continued
Yeah, I just cancelled the NokiaUSA order... at this point I'm kind of apathetic about the entire thing so I plan to forget about this phone so if my newegg preorder ships in January 2010 I'll be (hopefully) pleasantly surprised when it shows up.

Re: Did your N900 ship today continued
Is this starting to remind anyone else of the Garmin Nuvifone debacle, with repeated delays in releasing the product?:(
|
Re: Did your N900 ship today continued
i'll admit I haven't ready all the millions of posts on the shipping delay, but all the ones I've read talk about firmware changes, os tweaks, whatever you want to call them.
I'm assuming the tech specs aren't getting changed, but do you think that nokia would take the feedback to improve tech specs and not just software bugs? just a thought... |
Re: Did your N900 ship today continued
****, this Linux phone will probably be out before the N900.
