NokiaUSA is just outsourced fulfillment to BrightpointNA, a wireless distributor. You're right though, heads up their azzez.
I have an open order with both NokiaUSA and NewEgg. The problem with NokiaUSA is that they want to keep authorizing the card over and over every 10 days, whereas NewEgg only auth+capture when the unit ships.

Excellent news!
Not sure if Nokia UK is the same, we'll have to wait until Monday and see.
Hopefully they'll charge my card and I'll receive a nice shipment email from them :)

This might be of potential interest for those with Amazon USA pre-orders. Having pre-ordered about two months ago, I emailed Amazon today to ask whether they had received any N900's yet and when I could expect my order to be fulfilled. I also voiced some displeasure about not having been given any information during the course of the wait, especially since the news broke about Nokia starting shipping. The bad news is they couldn't tell me anything new. The (sort of) good news is that they credited my account with a $10 voucher "for the inconvenience." Not exactly what I was hoping for, but it's $10 I didn't have before. Just thought others might want to give it a shot.

In the UK: Very likely.

In the US: Nokia isnt that big of a player in the US (my last Nokia phone was a 8290/7290) and most of the time the Nokias I do see now are the very low end ones. So why would we get it first?

I was referring to high end devices. Which carriers exactly carry these nice high end phones? Nearly every Nokia is free with service, and in the US, that means its cheap.

T-Mobile has 4 Nokias for sale (2 free, 1 for $14.99, and 1 for $69.99)... AT&T....Not even one Nokia....
Verizon... Ah! I've found 6 of them! Oh... 3 are Free and the other 3 are overpriced at $99.99 (It is Verizon after all)

I don't feel like checking sprint out considering they have been going down hill for years.

Wrong... AT&T sell the Nokia Surge, 6350, 6750 and the e71x.

At one point in time if I remember T-Mobile carried the N95 and it wasn't free but you're right I haven't seen one carrier carry a high end Nokia product in a long time.

Well when you go to www.attwireless.com and check nokia under phone finder, nothing comes up.

Edit: I stand corrected. I went back again and this time it worked, however still no nokia higher than $49.99 and most free. Still the high end nokia market is non-existant in the US, which is the point I am making. If I were nokia, I would ship to the countries where these products do best first.

perhaps we should write an app for this, and run it on the N900 to "toss" the virtual coin to estimate when the shipping will really start.

wait, but then we would already have gotten it. hmm. :)

ps: just checked some of the online shops via geizhals.at, and saw some of the shops saying early Jan as delivery date :(

Yeah just checked, mines still saying pending PAC even though I got an E-mail saying they have allocated a new number as requested.

I concur I also can not login...Maybe a good sign..Maybe their updating there system to show that our orders have started shipping :D:D

I just tryed to login again and it worked again but the shipping was still saying Nokia N900 This order has not shipped

Hearing words people bought from Nokia Online Store saying their N900 has been shipped!
Not sure which particular country though. I'll try and find out.

Also I'm told the another person got an email from Nokia saying it's out now, MEA Nokia site lists it as available.

Solo estoy jugando porque me parece divertido comentar acerca de lo que ustedes dicen en especial tus comentarios orgullosos y pedantes pero en realidad lo que hago es bromear y hablando en serio Espero que todos lo que comentan aqui tengan pronto su Nokia N900!!! al igual que espero pasen los dias rapidos y me llegue el mio desde USA! Yep, IRONY!

Some people that paid under cost and ordered just a few days ago will probably get the device first along with Nokia direct channels. Dell is their official reseller partner in the US.

Then again, if they had enough units to cover all allocations for the first shipment, I still think Newegg buyers may see units first. Newegg has a great distribution channel.
