My n900 seems to have a problem with its fm transmitter after flashing it. When I try to activate it, phone jams for fifteen seconds and then says "unable to use FM transmitter". Booting doesn't seem to help.

Is there anything to do besides messing with the RD mode?:o

edit. Interesting: enabled RD mode and with command "fmtx -d" it says "fmtx: not found". Where did it go..

Location is Finland (FM transmitters are allowed), and the the version is 10.2010-19.1.

uhm never mind, with the default blue theme i still just got a transparent menu in the app manager, clicking on one to install showed the menu... than leaving it... than clicking on another one only showed the menu title and nothing below it!

I really wonder where the bug is ...

My brother has the same version and location is Sweden (FM transmitter allowed!). So anyone has any ideas why the fm-transmitter seems to be gone?

This is so frustrating, so frustrating.

We have 2 n900s, and since we updated to PR 1.2, the phones stopped receiving email. The email widget doesn't work either. And checking email takes much much longer than before, it feels like it stalls for about a minute. I can't go back to PR 1.1 to make my email work again.

Nokia, you didn't make the N900 available in the US until early January, and by March you announced Meego, admitting in a carefully worded statement the death of Maemo, and therefore the n900 (because Meego wouldn't be ported to the n900). It is obvious that you had already decided on your partnership with Intel long before the Meego announcement, so pretty much when then n900 hit the market it was dead on arrival for development.

You also made the n900 owners believe in a misleading statement that Ovi maps would be made to work as effiently as in your other Symbian phones. But again, Ovi is not guaranteed that it will work properly in the n900. Congratulations to your lawyers!

Really, I don't care about how many apps my smartphone has! Just get the basics right. Email is a must, Navigation too (for the price you charged on this phone you should get it right). If you can't get that working, just get out of the smartphone market.

And I don't want to hear the Maemo supporters on how this phone has great hardware and that it's intended for coders and tech people. If that was the case, sell the phone through "techy" retailers and not to the general public. For crying out loud, if I were to buy a car from BMW I shouldn't be expected to rotate the tires or do an alignment everytime I want to go for a drive.

I'm not sure, but I guess it is. Finnish Nokia support site is still offering version "2.2009.51.1" as the latest, and the case seems to be same in the swedish support site too!

Hmm, PR1.2 works for me so far... Just couples of things don't work welll or maybe just bug :)

- My Email Widget work. Email seems to take longer to load, but sometimes show "no account" for a few seconds and then start to load the email. Eventually will load.
- Twitter widget look nice...but really drain my battery... i guess it is really not ready, switch back to other twitter apps.
- Prefer previous PR, don't like only one layer screen for the apps, make you have to scroll down all they way to the bottom if you have lots of icons (at least old PR doesn't mixed the setting/system icons with normal apps, Of course alternative used shortcut. :(
- App Manager missing search (bad bad bad)

Other than that... pretty happy with it :>

If the FM Transmitter worked before the update, then I don't know why it shouldn't work now. Did you install any app to enable the fm transmitter?

I guess I need to be a programmer in order to fix this "sh*t". Didn't know this phone was only for the tech types, bought it thinking it was meant for those who just wanted a smartphone that worked.

That is where you failed. Look, you have this phone. If you have a problem with it, you have 2 options:

a. Sell it
b. Find a solution to your problem

I have tried "Simple FMTX widget" (result = desktop loses all the shortcuts and jams), and FM boost (will not even start).

And again, when trying to enable the transmitter from the settings or the mediaplayer this "unable to use FM transmitter" -error hits the screen after a moment. I think I'll wait few days to see how common problem this is, and if it seems rare I carry the phone local workshop to be examined..

Humm, that's why I came to this site in the first place, to find a solution. And I also tried going back to a previous version, not possible. My current solution is to withold my money from Nokia ever again, that's how capitalism works. If it was as easy as cleaning up the milk, dude, I would have done it by now. And I don't think anyone would want to buy this phone in the US, heck I wouldn't take it if it was free.

Anyhow, replying to you does nothing to fix this situation. But I "appreciate it". Thank you.

You fail again. I'm not defending anybody. If you want me to help, you can start with bashing other forum users less.
If you have a problem, put it out there so you can get help. This is a community forum, i.e. it is not Nokia. Complaining about Nokia on a thread about bugs is pointless.

I tried video calling on PR 1.2 using Skype.

I was able to get it to work using N900 and the latest Skype binary for Windows.

It did not work with the previous Skype binary for Windows (which is acceptable), but it also didn't work with either MacOS or Linux.

I tried initiating the call from MacOS and Linux and from the N900 and it didn't work in either case. It would say that video was starting, but it never would and the call would just proceed as an audio call.

MacOS <-> Linux and {MacOS,Linux} <-> Windows video calls worked fine, so it wasn't a problem with the configuration on the MacOS or Linux side.

The Mac and Linux skype clients aren't as up-to-date as the windows versions

I quickly edited the last reply because I realized I was taking my frustration out on you, sorry for that, shouldn't have gone personal. If you read my original post you can find out what my problem is. I posted here because users post solutions to other's problems, and thinking that Nokia hopefully reads these forums, they would realize there's a serious problem with PR 1.2, at least on my phone, others probably are fine. My main beef with this is that Nokia released a phone that they pretty much knew was DOA development wise, it shouldn't have been available to the general public. Just look at the time frame of the release, the statements regarding Ovi maps for the N900 and Meego. Now I think Nokia decided to recoup their development investment by selling the n900 before it was ready for the market. I'm I wrong, who knows, probably, all that I know is that I'm left with two expensive smartphones that can't receive email (and I'm sure I'm not alone on that one, just read other postings related to PR 1.2). I'll be calling Nokia tonight when I get home, hopefully the rep can tell me how I can go back to PR 1.1.

You can downgrade by flashing. There should be instructions somewhere. But before you do that, what email services are you using?

Hey i've got two bugs to report after updating.
-The onscreen keyboard doesn't work anymore.
-In the app manager, i can't search, the search options isn't there, and start to typing doesn't start the search. Any idea how I could solve this?

I think I am seeing a new calendar bug - if I have a recurring appointment set (in this case an appointment which recurs every year) it shows up in the calendar widget even though the date is months away, and no other in-between events are displayed except the ones you expect to see for the next 10 days view. Has anyone else seen this?

I have just noticed that in Navifirm V10.2010.19-1 is listed but all the different product code firmwares have been removed so no one can update with NSU!

Have you activated IMAP on your gmail account? Also, are you sure that your network is not blocking the access to certain ports?

I also have a problem with 'My Nokia'...keeps crashing when i try to open it but I was told there is no much functionality in there. For menu customisation, do a long press on any icon to get to manipulation mode. Then select an icon and tap where u want to place it. Press done on the right hand corner when u r finished.

I now have the same issue... had this two updates ago :( I can see WIFI, though it just doesn't connect.

Anyone else having this issue :confused: Flashed using the standard method with the global release.
