So I just installed the new version and here's a quick review:

Much, MUCH faster although I could use with smoother scrolling.
System seems to slightly hang while the program is in the background while playing a file.
CPU usage is fine.

If this is going to have folder browsing it's going to be my default player.

We know, we know. It's not that it's not tolerant of one kind of music or another, it's that it simply doesn't know certain songs. The more popular the song the more likely it is we know it. We're working to expand the catalog a little faster than the current rate (which is somewhere on the order of 250 new songs a day).

it was not, the version my appmanager showed me was indeed 0.4.10
the version you linked to is 0.4.21!

are there any big differences? i think the main menu got much darker...?! and the identify-button received a subtle animation when its recording and identifying.

i didnt mean to bash or something, i already thought that the database propably is quite small right now :)

The new version is good. I like this player so far. It detected covers for most of the songs I have and that surprised me. I like portrait mode of it. If it had also landscape, would be better. Good potential.

oh, that was something i wanted to comment on too: instinctiv downloaded covers for a couple of songs that already had correct covers tagged into them!
not sure why it thought they didnt have one...

The 0.4.21 version available directly from instinctiv.com doesn't seem to be able to identify the covers in the existing files. It didn't show any covers for my tracks which all do have the cover in them.

0.4.10 version from Store doesn't have this problem.

hey i downloaded instinctiv this morning and I LOVE IT :D i just have 2 suggestions;
1. u could maybe put an equalizer. coz i always use that :L
2. put an option to disable the automatic cover art finding thingo. coz sometimes it gets a random picture and then im stuck with that :/

i also encountered a problem (at least for me)

when instinctiv records audio and then tries to indentify it, it will be "indentifying" forever if no internet connection exists.
even when you activate internet manually while its identifying, you need to start over.

i'd like when it would just activate an connection by itself.

Nice app hope there's more improvements to follow

1 landscape mode pls

2 in the library when you select songs or albums etc would be nice to have an a z on the right and side to jump straight to that letter. like the one on the phone ( select phone then contact gives a useful a-z there)

3 add a button to turn on FM transmitter.

4 cant seem to delete the recordings from the identify option

5 cant seem to get the play list working.

6 when in portrait mode the play/pause buttons would be nice if they was further apart from each other. ( handy when in the car)

best media player for far, keep up the good work :)

for reading all these post and for helping to improve your app ( not like other people )
even Nokia don't improve there OWN apps.

i would love ti see music control on the screen

FM transmitter switch would be very cool too

and a small search letters on the right would be very cool

Auto resume from the last position will be a needed feature.
Also I don't get it why the player is not showing the cover art included in mp3 file?
And where is browse by folder option? Peter you said in the first posts that such an option will be added! There was many versions out since there and I can't find the option anywhere! Also remember the last position in the folder will be nice, if will be any!

Jeeeez yeah, tell me about it. I've got "Don't Stop Believing The Best Of Journey" album on my phone and Instinctiv downloaded album art for Glee. Soooooo embarrassing. :o

An album art manager where you can apply the art from a folder would be nice.

Instinctiv 4.10 & 4.21 applications close automatically whenever I touch the identify icon!!

Lovely UI but stil! too slow. Sadly I had to turn it off. I trust this will be optimized on finlal release as it is unusable in the current state.

Idea totally not scrapped. Bugs (like the silent profile bug) still take priority over pretty much everything else unless something in the dev process dictates otherwise. We'll get there. Promise.

If you'd like to know, I have 200 songs and I think the speed is fine. Not perfect, but good. But if you'll improve it even more, then great! I'm using the newest version available.

I don't think so, Instinctiv is one of the apps that is available on OVI
so Instinctiv need so submet there app to the OVI store, and we have to wait about 7 days to get it it as an update over the AIR.
even the last still not available on the ovi store

Quite slow, not blaming you for anything, you're doing all you can obviously ;P
I have roughly 460 songs now. Album cover looks nice and big. A huuuge plus for me to you. Only annoying thing is the images look low-res when they're stretched, and sometimes wrong cover art shows up. And the identify, how does it work?

Anyways, A+ dude, I hope you can make it run faster and you can choose your own cover art!

1 feature request:
Could you include not only landscape mode, but also portrait mode upside down?

I want to use Instinctiv as my default player, but whenever I keep my N900 in my pocket and have my headphones plugged in, the UI is upside down. Having the option to turn it the other way around would be really convenient.

Havent red all 60 pages of the thread but is it just me that is getting cpu usage around 85% while using?With the default player i m getting around 25 to 35 %.Its a pitty since i like multitasking and that kills it.
(n900@stock speeds,no overclocking or any tweaks,in case it matters.any info about my device that could help solve the problem,will be gladdly provided)

CPU usage in my n900 with titans kernel starving mode and limits set to 250-900

Mediaplayer about 40% frequanzy changes between 250 and 900
Mediabox few percent higher than mediaplayer
Instinctiv about 90-100% almost 900MHz all the time

It really seems to suck life out of N900 :).

It great app but some work to be done.

hey guys, im one of the people using Instinctiv without any Internet connection, and to my despair i found out that the player doesnt pull up album covers from the tag/folder anymore, meaning all my songs have no cover! please fix that!

Also, we need to ask ourselves whether Identify is really a feature worth improving AT THE MOMENT, i think we should push it all the way to the bottom of the list! Most songs i own I dont need to identify, same for songs friends might transfer to my device, so personally the feature is something i will never use.

What we need now is 'covers from files' back, more tweaking for cpu usage+stability, a crossfade function, and an equalizer! These should be our top priorities!

I'm not sure if I'm doing anything wrong but I can't get any sound out of instinctiv even when I use earphones that are plugged in.....

What am I doing wrong.....I am not a tech-head just a mum and am a little lost
