Re: N9 owners: answer questions & get help!
Help needed!
I've been changing the color of my screensaver clock (instructions found in a thread here). Everything had been working OK until my latest try with color: #8B7D6B As usual I replaced the css file (it's my 5th color test) but this time my N9 won't boot anymore!!! Haha I miss nandroid backup ;-) It starts booting, sometimes it even gets to the SIM PIN but it bootloops each time. What have I done wrong, what can I do? Pleeeaaase! Thanks! Update: I let it reboot for a while and it's now telling me it rebooted too many times :-) ! It says to reflash the software so I guess I have to find out how to do that now. Any pointers are welcome! Update2: Fixed! Was scared for a sec but the reflash worked! |
Re: N9 owners: answer questions & get help!
I have 2 questions for N9 owners:
1. Is there Cyrillic VKB? If yes - what is the layout(phonetic or BDS)? 2. When using terminal - how about TAB? I can't imagine using terminal without TAB. Thanks for your time. |
Re: N9 owners: answer questions & get help!
Anybody else having problem with sharing to facebook from apps? I cannot share location from Nokia maps or share song from Spotify (official client).
Facebook error message: (#100) img objects must have valid 'src and 'href' attributes. This message comes up as a failed transfer, showed as a red arrow on the phone. It works with Nokia City Scene although it uses the same share function built in to the os. I guess theres something wrong configurated in the image link the phone is trying to send. Can anybody reproduce this? |

Only change in keyboard layout is that the "ъ" isn't in the third row, but next to the spacebar. *edit: you can access different keyboard layouts in: "settings"/"time and language"/"text input" |

@Hydroponies, @crisscross
Thank you for the answers guys! So it is Russian "йцукен"("qwerty") keyboard. I hope there will be Bulgarian phonetic in the near future. Good news about the TAB in terminal - I never got used to terminal with VKB on N900 ;-) |

I am having problems with my Shortcuts, I recently installed Shortcuts but didn't use it until today, when I swap Web shortcut for Search shortcuts or any other shortcuts, it just removed the shortcut on the Launcher and does not replace it with Search.
http://talk.maemo.org/attachment.php...1&d=1319601919 In addition, it also created a new icon on my app drawer as you can see i have two Web icons on my app drawer. http://talk.maemo.org/attachment.php...1&d=1319601919 I really run out of ideas how to curb this. It's so frustrating that something like that happens |
Re: N9 owners: answer questions & get help!
Does anyone know if Greek keyboard is an available option to select for multi virtual keyboards

Re: N9 owners: answer questions & get help!
I just installed quickbarcontrol app, it seems that my shortcut slot on the shortcut bar is missing one slot. I wonder if i can restore the slot on bar. Sigh

Re: N9 owners: answer questions & get help!
A notion I want to make about battery life, what I found out over the last days:
3G data connection idle (connected, but not transferring) uses about 40mA -> battery would last 35h in idle. 2G data connection idle (connected, but not transferring) uses about 10mA -> would give about 6 days idle! WiFi connection idle (connected, but not transferring) even less than 10mA when in good reception range -> also about 6-7 days idle. "Allow background connections" disabled, no automatic feed/mail/etc updating in background (though twitter updates still work automatically, strange) -> normally no automatic connection established and if established manually by browsing, etc. after half a minute of inactiveness, the connection automatically closes itself again --> this is about 5-10mA in idle, could give you up to 10days idle in theory... However, no automatic background updates is somewhat of a bummer to me in a smartphone :-P So if you want to last your battery as long as possible, use (good reception) WiFi or 2G (GSM) whenever possible/bearable for you. Not taking into account in the figures above is of course active usage... If you play around with the device all day, you drain it in one single day easily still... |
Re: N9 owners: answer questions & get help!
does anybody know how to set new POP3 email account with a possibility to delete messages from server?
I do not see such option in config. |
Re: N9 owners: answer questions & get help!
Yes it does. I already did receive a few SIP calls on my N9. Haven't figured out, how to make calls to e.g. some.user@sip.example.com though. You can only dial digits...

Re: N9 owners: answer questions & get help!
Is there a program where you can edit office files? It's great that the N9 opens all office files, but it would be a whole lot nicer if you had the possibility to edit the documents :p

Re: N9 owners: answer questions & get help!
My N9 just entered an infinite reboot loop. It starts up all the way to a spinning loading screen and then start the reboot loop again.
All this started an hour ago when i recieved a normal text message to my phone, but could not open it. My phone recieved it 3 times one after another in one minute intervals. After those i decided to reboot my device and thats when this happened. I guess there is nothing for me to do since i can't even take out the battery but this sucks none the less. I've tried pressing the power button 8 or more seconds and it does turn off the device, but once i try to start it up again the booting continues. Actually just now while im writing this it gave me a screen that says: Device is malfunctioning(no ****) You may try re-flashing the software. If you are unable to do so, or the problem persists after flashing, please contact service. Software problem (xsession/sysuid): too many reboots Ok... So how do i reflash ? any suggestions ? edit: I don't actually have the time to try reflashing right now, but i will try it tomorrow. |

Re: N9 owners: answer questions & get help!
Powerpoint-viewer does not show formulas correctly. Is there an official way to report N9 bugs?
Btw. something I noticed in the browser: URLs previously entered are not turning up as suggestions when I type a part of em. This is kind of annoying, especially without bookmarks. |
Re: N9 owners: answer questions & get help!
Is it just me or is there a problem reaching iGoogle (the non mobile version)? No mattter what I do I am switched to the mobile site. I had a similar problem on the N900 but overcame it somehow (I don't remember now). I type in the identical string and it does not matter I wind up on the moble site.

Re: N9 owners: answer questions & get help!
Hey, the device arrived on a day when I was busy at work and then out at two separate things in the evening! ;)
Thank you both. Several people in the office wanted a play with the N9 - everyone liked it, and one of the account managers now wants an N9 instead of an iPhone 4S even though he'd never heard of it 'til today! |
Re: N9 owners: answer questions & get help!

Also, in the development threads Quim mentioned that the strings are not available for translation - i.e. what we have done for the N900. |
Re: N9 owners: answer questions & get help!
Hi Guys, I had a few questions for the n9 users out there. Thus far, I have set up my facebook and youtube accounts in the accounts list. Now I can (supposedly) share to facebook and youtube directly from the gallery with the 'share' button in there. I've attemped to upload a photo to facebook and a video to youtube via this technique, but, after filling in the requisite information and hitting 'done,' nothing seems to happen. The message closes without a peep/statusbar/etc. Checking from my PC, certainly nothing has been uploaded.
Anyone had any success with this? EDIT: Never mind, everything worked fine, it was just super slooooooow. Anyone know of a way to check the status of these network operations? EDIT #2: Man, they sure hide tons of functionality these days. I answered my own question: if you tap the top portion where the status indicators are, it will list the transfers in the pulldown. Neato. |
Re: N9 owners: answer questions & get help!
Not sure what the best place for this is - but i found this whilst digging through the nokia developer site

Re: N9 owners: answer questions & get help!
One or two people have reported problems using a mini SIM cut down to micro SIM in the N9 when the mini SIM carried the large format contact area.
This link shows examples of the comparative sizes to illustrate what I'm talking about In theory it shouldn't matter, as far as I am aware, since the actual electronic contact area remains the same. But can anyone report success with cutting down such a mini SIM for the N9 (rather than examples of success for the iPhone)? I ask because my current mini SIM is of the large format |
Re: N9 owners: answer questions & get help!

Can someone send me the orignal files located in the
cities\diskcache\voices location? it seems that wiping deletes some important files for obtaining more voices for navigation. every time I try now I get cant connect to the list. |
