I know, but as i said - i'm using the "low" level and still - it is very loud. i want to set it lower than that.

i hear loud music, and waze's guidance really shouts the directions even with its low volume set.

Option 2:
Assuming you use N9/50 - modify /etc/pulse/xpolicy.d/waze_xpolicy.conf group to "game" or "camera" (no quotes).
On the N900 - modify /etc/pulse/xpolicy.conf find waze (should be at the end of the file), and change its group to one of those defined in that file.

After each change -> do a phone restart

Re: [Announce] Waze for N900/N9/N950

i'm using n900. i didn't know about this file before. tried to read about it a little but couldn't find a source that explains how it can be configured.
the group sections do not contain any volume level number:

[group]
name = idle
flags = nopolicy
sink = sink.null
source = sink.null.monitor

some help to understand this will be appreciated.

Sorry for my english.
Waze uses 4.5 MB of data for 30 km! Is it normal if data compression is turned on, and use that route every day?

It is possible. Each route request can reach upto 5MB, depending on the route complexity (street counts, turn counts, etc...). Each route recalculation the is caused by traffic might be less than the previous route request - because the number of streets/turns might decrease.

The sounds are extremely loud because waze is impersonating as a ringtone (as if the phone rings). Changing it to other profile (group) will force it to use other volume settings.

Yisroel491,

Its probably due to the whole MeeGo OBS and repo being taken offline by Intel.

Yes, just be sure to download for the correct device (N9 or N900).

I'm not able to connect to foursquare. is it just me or is this just not yet available?

waze has started killing thier legacy servers so the functionality will gradually decrease...
nothing much i can do about it...

Don't want to be a scrooge but I'm pretty sure after a 800km trip, my data is not uploaded online.

:O 800km with no crash? beats my record :P

knobtviker 2013-06-04 18:42

Not a single crash actually. I wasn't even aware of crashes, took it for granted it works steadily.
Question still remains, where did the data go so I can prove it? :)

Hi All, I think our dream lasted a good time but now we should see how this evolves:

http://www.globes.co.il/serveen/glob...50934&fid=1725

Google is buying Waze.

Re: [Announce] Waze for N900/N9/N950

Unless Google hire me, this port is dead.
The APIs are no longer as were in v2. You can still navigate but dont expect anything more than that (scoreboard, POI, reports, etc...)

knobtviker 2013-06-11 05:25

Too bad, sorry to hear that. :(

Google had my CV for a year now + they don't do head hunting openly.

Again, this port will still be able to navigate, but all other network based features are under a big question mark in terms of working.

And, as of today...a done deal: http://money.cnn.com/2013/06/11/tech...aze/index.html

This will certainly kick Bing out as the Waze search engine!

Here is another link confirming that Google has acquired Waze:

Time to develop a similar app based on openstreetmap.org maybe in Qt for Sailfish,Meego,Maemo

Re: [Announce] Waze for N900/N9/N950

I know this thread is old (and the version slightly deprecated due to Google's purchase) but can someone tell me how to report an event? I can't seem to find it (though it may have been removed or doesn't work in the final version.)

I just hate to leech off the system when I could be reporting accidents too.

Edit: Thanks OP too for porting this. This has probably saved me some traffic tickets and hassle when driving.

titou1234 2013-07-14 18:49

Re: [Announce] Waze for N900/N9/N950

To access the event form you have to swipe the right icon (the one with the exclamation mark) to the center of the screen.

cincibluer6 2013-07-14 18:57

Re: [Announce] Waze for N900/N9/N950

Perfect. Thank you. Surprised I didn't catch that earlier.

Re: [Announce] Waze for N900/N9/N950

I just got around to trying this app, not having noticed the posts about the google purchase, API changes and reduced functionality. It looks to me like it's completely dead now. I tried to sign up with the "new user" button, and I was able to pick a user name and password, but this combination doesn't work on the waze.com website.

Also navigation never appears, there are no events, etc. I see a warning about a GPS problem . . .

I'm too late to the party, aren't I? Bummer. :(

sondjata 2013-09-24 16:03

Re: [Announce] Waze for N900/N9/N950

I have it and use it without much problems (occasional crash). I get warnings and navigation as well. Maybe a problem with your install. Also occasionally the program refuses to do searches when waze is doing something with their servers. Happened to me for a long while.

Maybe it is. Since repo.pub.meego.com is gone, I had to get it from a mirrored repository.

However, since I didn't see any errors when installing and the application does launch and run, I'm still more inclined to believe that the new user registration isn't working anymore.

What happens if you run it from the terminal?

Code:

/opt/waze/bin/waze

hey guys, does waze still works in N900 as of today? can anyone managed to get this working on N900? I have it installed in my N900, but it kept searching for network even though i am already connected to 3G (or wifi)

Location setting was set to:

GPS setting: supl.google.com
GPS status: Fine Accuracy (Satellite icon on the menubar is solid as in not blinking)

Here's a screenshot of waze on my n900..not sure why but sometimes the km/h is between 0-7km/h lol..

Attachment 33730

I can search for places from "Drive to" near my place. But when i tapped to go, waze just crashed and closed itself..i have tried to apt-get install --reinstall waze, but the problem still persists..

Has it ever worked for you? I tried using it after waze began, as damagedspline put it "killing their legacy servers." I've never been able to actually get past login/signup. "Searching network . . ." message appears and nothing else happens. I've tried installing it from several backups of the old appsformeego repo (rzr's backup, rzr's repo at openrepos, appsformeego at openrepos), all to no avail.

In an earlier post, damagedspline wrote:

I'm guessing that new user signup is a casualty of the changes.

Re: [Announce] Waze for N900/N9/N950

Absolutely working on N900. With all known limitations. Routing is completely functional.

Searching works sometimes. Simpler the search term the better. Cannot search a second time without a panic.

FYI, searching is problematic on the latest release for Android. Bing has to be going away as search engine after Google's purchase...
