Re: overclocking kernel modules + UI for PR1.2 [ko v1.5.3] [ui v1.0.1]

WOW. i did it! Thanks for the help Creamy Goodness.

now that i did this, do i need to incept it everytime i want to change the speed?

also, for the voltage - i understand is the balance between that and the speed...do you recommend the best speed + voltage for battery life and increase in speed?

i would imagine dropping the voltage to like 100000...

Re: overclocking kernel modules + UI for PR1.2 [ko v1.5.3] [ui v1.0.1]

yes, both!

Re: overclocking kernel modules + UI for PR1.2 [ko v1.5.3] [ui v1.0.1]

thanks!

higher voltage = more battery drained? but it needs a higher voltage if the speed is up, correct?

Creamy Goodness 2012-05-04 05:08

Re: overclocking kernel modules + UI for PR1.2 [ko v1.5.3] [ui v1.0.1]

most people can get to about 1150 without increasing the voltage, I think. It depends how much you want to overclock.

Re: overclocking kernel modules + UI for PR1.2 [ko v1.5.3] [ui v1.0.1]

right now i am at 1200 and 1275000 for voltage.

i wonder if i drop the voltage to 1200000, will the phone have an exceptional increase in battery life?

Creamy Goodness 2012-05-04 05:36

Re: overclocking kernel modules + UI for PR1.2 [ko v1.5.3] [ui v1.0.1]

no, not really. the voltage you are adjusting only affects the phone when it's running at 1200 or whatever the highest speed is. it will have some effect, but not huge.

Creamy Goodness 2012-05-04 05:41

Re: overclocking kernel modules + UI for PR1.2 [ko v1.5.3] [ui v1.0.1]

sorry i didn't see your other questions because you edited your post...
undervolting doesn't work, smartreflex already does this as far as it can go anyways.
you don't have to do that incept stuff again, just open the app and it will work from now on.
I suggest increase the speed as much as possible without boosting the voltage. If you didn't get to at least 1175 give it a small voltage boost. Boosting the voltage a lot to get to 1400 is not a good idea.

that explains a lot thanx

I can't get more than 1140 my phone keeps on rebooting if in increase after even i increased the voltage still the same...

okay. Im not asking it to guess for me. I just didnt know that it doesnt work as how the older version (automatic voltage up when above 1.2Ghz) does. anyway tnx.

Note that you should make sure to set the voltage to the absolute lowest stable value for the clock speed you want. High voltages cause electromigration in the chip (= shorter device lifetime), high heat output (= overly toasty phone), and high power consumption (= low battery life). You'll need to incrementally lower the voltage and run a stress test until it starts crashing, at which point it should be raised to the last stable value.

Yup just knew it. I just thought that it would automatically voltage up just like before without UI. thanks for answering nicely

it failed i think the safest is 1375000 voltage with all frequency 1300-1400 with sr off

all voltage above 1375000 failed with all frequency but i think the phone is faster only above 1375000 voltage

Once OPPtimizer is installed and working, you don't have to use pasiv or incept again - you can simply launch it from the home screen. :)

Suggestions?

/sbin/modprobe
texas instruments screwed up that sensor apparently, so it's not likely to work properly. Stupid company.

Hi Creamy Goodness, just to check if the OC can affect downloading Big File Apps from d Ovi Store. Tried to download Air Attack and GT Racing which result to download error. First I thought its bcoz of the store itself, but then i manage to install 3 other Apps with smaller file size.

So I rebooted my N9, then tried to download Air Attack with stock setting and it did. OC the N9 and tried to download GT Racing and again with the error. So finally, rebooted again to download GT with stock setting and it did.

1200/ 12000000 was good until i took a picture. the picture cannot save.

increased to 1200/12750000 and it is fine now

Yeah I am not sure about that, it's not very likely but unless someone else tries that and it works it's hard to prove.

Try this after overclocking:
Go to the terminal
devel-su
rootme
killall -q pkgmgrd
rm -f /var/lib/dpkg/lock
Then try and download air attack
If this doesn't work then I will try a few more things I know and tester if it's the overclock or package manager.

Gives me:

~ # /sbin/modprobe omap34xx_temp
~ # cat /sys/devices/platform/omap34xx_temp/temp1_input
cat: read error: Input/output error

tried as root, with opensh and as user. Same error with all three.

Q. Why is it omap34xx when n9 has omap3630? Seems strange;P

thanks Arie. i already did those immediately after installing inception. everything was ok except when I was downloading large files from the ovi store. hopefully it was temporary..at the moment im OvC at 1375 & looks stable.

What's your voltage? I'm still playing around with overclocks, it's clear my N9 is very finicky.

I use them between every app install, try it after installing the overclocking ui and the kernel module. Then download air attack, it should work.

yes , I am not using opptimizer ui because my phone gets a random reboot in less than 1 hour even if I set 1350 with 1387500 , and so far with this script still runs stable at 1337500 , less with 50000 microvolts ..

It's your chip, nothing else.

I am in the same boat, but, I understand this so I don't go beyond 1100 mhz on stock voltage.

Don't blame the ui, blame your own behavior toward your chipset.

All the ui does is send the command too the kernel module, similar to doing it with a terminal. Nothing more.
