If I'm hauling my arse several thousand miles, I don't want to be timesharing some greasy monkey-fingered demo device. Sure, people make the best of the situation, and it'll be nice to meet folks, but still....it reeks of shabby organization to me.

But WTF, I'm not going anyway....Amsterdam is a cool place - be sure to ask for the 'special' menu in the coffee shop ;)

I really think about cancelling my AMAZON pre order (558€)...and for sure, in comparison to the States, Germany ist really....really expensive :)

706.60 for NYC. Taxes in the US depend on which state you're in. I love democracy :)

oh, thats new to me and quite interesting also the difference isn't quite big. Therefore I don't have to book my next holiday to the USA ;-)

Sales tax (if any) is set by the states, so it varies. For me, it would be:

$582.99 (Amazon price with free shipping)
+ $34.98 (6% sales tax)
= $617.97

I'd only pay $582.99 on the purchase now though, as Amazon doesn't collect Pennsylvania sales tax. When I pay my state income tax at the end of the year, there's an accompanying form upon which I can report all the online purchases I've made so I can calculate and pay sales tax on them.
