sad I know ...but its a fact!

Nokia customer service and related FAQs stated that N900 will have Ovi Maps turn-by-turn navigation and also that Ovi Suite and Services were being discussed with the Maemo team to implement support for N900. I also asked about Ovi Maps on Ovi official blog and a Nokia employee confirmed that they are working on it, here is the link:

http://blog.ovi.com/2010/03/02/new-p...bile/#comments

I was pessimistic and worried about N900 future, even being accused of spreading FUD. Now I chilled out a bit and I am hoping that Nokia keeps its word. @qgil already mentioned a lot of times that there will be more information about N900 future plans when both PR1.2 and Harmattan Alpha SDK are released (and both probably by the end of this month), so let's wait for it....

Maybe the focus on Meego for Ovi Services, Ovi Maps and other enhancements means that Nokia intend to support Meego on N900 but won't tell owners right now due to business strategy, technical difficulties or whatever other reasons, we will have to wait... Just keep one thing in mind, Nokia isn't a novice company who has no experience on the mobile market, and Meego will run in competitor hardware as well, so I am SURE that Nokia management is aware they will loose loyal customers if they just let N900 on their own, and most of them are early adopters and thus have influence on average users opinion.

I am not expecting huge changes, my only wishes are for better power optimization and better implementation of portrait browser (which I find I use more than I expected to). Oh and Flash 10.1 wouldn't be a terrible addition either :p

@mobiledivide,

Can you please share how do you know the PR1.2 is already being tested by nokians and the community? I suspect this may be right due to the expected launch by the end of March, but so for I didn't hear anything about code freezing for PR1.2.

I just hope the Baseband issue is fixed because I keep getting that "No Sim" icon randomly and it can get quite frustrating. I flashed repeadeatly using NSU and it doesn't change a thing.

I couldn't flash using Maemo Flasher cos I have Windows Vista 64-Bit and even if I select at startup to "Disable driver signature enforcement" it still doesn't work.

All I get is "No Suitable USB Device found...waiting" and you should wait about 3 minutes or so but I've waited more than 20 mins and nothing happens. Oh well...I guess I will try to flash the Global Firmware on a Windows XP computer since that's the Firmware I'm trying to get and with NSU, you can't choose what firmware you want so it's annoying.

hildon-desktop 1:2.2.132-1+0m5
which is part of the internal build version
10.2010.07-3
(Note: 2009/2010 is the year, and the number after is the week.)"

We have got a week 2 release (3.2010.2-8) in week 7 on Feb 16th. So following that timescale a week 7 release (10.2010.07-3) will be in week 12. Which is week commencing Mar 22nd..

I searched bugzilla but not in details. Do you know if there is any mention to an internal build for week 08 or later? Can we know in advance what is the build version that was defined for any firmware update like PR1.2? I guess just through inside information or waiting for the release, isn't it?

So basically, nobody has a clue! :P A month earlier, everyone seemed to be quite positive that PR 1.2 would arrive around the end of February.

not really, you just chose to believe those posts........

Nokia do not give release dates....

People like rumours....
A rumour spreads that it may be April/March ... (Notice april first)...
Next post then says early march..... the next says end feb/early march.... and then someone started giving dates.... - pretty impressive after noting the first point... Nokia dont give dates...

Casper is the closest with a guess, they try to put dates in the packs... but they can be different to the actual dates, and they can be target dates.....

What we do know is... there are lots of bugs in bugzilla being fixed :) - so a fix should come out sooner or later :D

I know the exact year of this update release!!

Warning spoiler:
The official Nokia plans to release this PR1.2 sometimes this year the earliest or the latest will be next year.

So we all got this year to look out for it :D I know I am correct on the ETA of this update. Source? Me!! lol

It will be released on the next Xmas distributed through Santa Claus own SW repository, but only for those who behave well during this year and never posted any comment about Nokia delays....

@Russo_br sorry for not having specifics, I just remember the comment from the irc or maybe on the forums somewhere...no links unfortunately. The update will come one day and hopefully more later :)
