Hello guys, iapex from Italy writing, i'm free lance Cisco System networks engineer. I'm an Apple user with Macbook. I never like Iphone because have a very closed platform, Maemo.org and their community helped me to buy the best terminal in market N900, that satisfied (for me) any requirement (vpn, telnet, ssh, speedest and full web browsing ever i try, imap emails, skype, gtalk and sip integration) and now i want to contribute the grow of community and maemo platform.
Thx @ all. iapex |
Re: New members say hello !
Hi, Hugh Caley here, from Albany, California, USA. I'm a Linux system administrator so a Linux-based phone/tablet that actually runs Linux binaries seems like a great idea to me!
It seems like the N900 does everything I need except for reading ebooks with DRM; hoping the Palm virtual machine will allow me to run eReader in the near future. Still waiting for my N900 to show up from Dell. I'm especially waiting since I just dropped my T-Mobile G1 in my swimming pool. |

Re: New members say hello !
hey im new here too... i bought my n900 dec24th and returned jan7th 2010...
to me n900 is useless and not perfect .... paying almost $600 and getting half complete product.... wow people I have tried ovi map 3.0 and didnt work for me . Ovi 1 sucks !! and no google maps???? i was so excited to get my n900 and use navigation ,internet , phone etc... but everything had some problem... it was woow and also disappinted. personelly i didnt love it and return my n900 ... its better to wait little longer and get something works in many way better.... no google maps , no ovi 3.0 map (ovi 1.0 doesnt do anything just driving crazy ) , w/tmobile poor signal cant do anything (fort myers , florida)... is there fm transmitter ?? yes but doesnt transmit well... get a fm transmitter for $20 better than n900.... thick like computer and battery life is poor... touchscreen is okay but still not comparable to iphone .... trying to return it and delete all the data but didnt have factory resetting... dont pay for something is not complete... there is more bad stuff about it ... you will see when you pay it and use it. i just returned my n900 and using n95 .. still happy :) good luck to you all |

Re: New members say hello !
Hi there. 36, and from Amsterdam
I am eagerly awaiting the arrival of my N900, which is scheduled for tomorrow. Have spent a couple of days looking into the N97. However, running Linux flavors on my homesystem I decided to take the leap. I used to hate mobile phones and would always buy the model without any features apart from calling and txt-ing. I have a seperate mp3 (Creative Zen Touch 20Gig) player to listen to, never looked for a phone that could play me some music. And now the N900 just walked into my life (the machine is a gift). Canīt wait to untar that whole thing.and start bashing it around. |

Re: New members say hello !
Greetings
Harald from Sweden, 29 years old. Fell in love with PDAs in the late 90s. Got an N810 two years ago which I absolutely loved. My best gadget to that date. It started to get less and less lovin' though after I got an Ipod Touch and a netbook earlier this year. Decided it was time to take the next step so I just got myself an N900. Looking forward to have Maemo5 with me where ever I go with constant internet access. |
Re: New members say hello !
Hey everyone!
I just bought an n900 from a reputable person on ebay and can't wait for it to arrive. It's honestly like a dream come true, and I'm a little.. anxious about it. I've been a *nix admin for 15 years, and run Debian on my car PC, RC flight platform, laptops, servers, work and home, etc. And now, I can have a true Debian system in my pocket? With a wireless modem?! :D Still seems to good to be true. Something I'm missing, right? Well, we'll see when it gets here! |
Re: New members say hello !

Re: New members say hello !
Ciao everyone!!
I'm a linux admin and I think that is invaluable to have an xterm and a ssh client always in my pocket. My old N800 helped me a lot of times, but now with my brand new N900 I can really do everything from everywhere. Really awsome :) |
Re: New members say hello !
Hello! I'm Janne from Finland and I'm newbie in here so Hi to everyone.
I'm long time Linux and Nokia user, expect I almost buy a iPhone 3g some years ago, but thank god I didn't. First touch with maemo was when I got N810 to my hands during my practical training and it was beginning of a wonderful friendship (even I didn't use it a lot) and since then, I have wait to get phone with Linux. First I heard about Android, but then comes these rumors about N900, so after short wondering I chose this wonderful device (because there is a terminal in it) and I like it a lot :) I'm a techoholic, so I like to test a lot and I also have pretty good basics in programming (and want to learn more) so in someday I will probably find myself from creating or developing something to my new 'toy'. BTW, sorry about my English, hope it is understandable :D |
Re: New members say hello !
Hello everyone got mine yesterday.

Re: New members say hello !
Hi,
I'm Sander from The Netherlands. Having just received my new N900 I wanted to go on developing straight away. Did encounter some trouble though with the sync'ing of my garage account with the maemo-community site : it doesn't seem to happen. Anyway, hopefully that will be resolved soon, and let's see what I can produce for the N900 :=) Sander |

Re: New members say hello !
Hello everyone.
I'm a Linux user and have been following along here since September and I thought I would finally step out and say hello. I really appreciate what this community is about and look forward to further participation. I don't have an N900 yet... have wanted one since it's announcement. I'm trying to get and idea about whats coming down the pipeline in the near future first. I really enjoy this community and the knowledge that it not only has but the knowledge that it shares as well. Thanx. |
