Re: Maemo 5 PR1.2: Bugs
Hm.
I have two sort-of-bugs too, I'd like to check with you before submitting anything: a) My "top" link in Maemo.org don't work in MicroB ever since 1.2. Haven't seen anyone complaining, did I miss it or just nobody has it? b) You need a contact with nothing but phone number(s) that you had a conversation with. - Open the said contact. It has a picture, phone (call and sms) - Go to conversations - Open the conversation with above contact - Open their last message - Click the picture to open contact card - The contact card has a label under it that say "offline" even if they have no other ability. It doesn't happen when opening from Contacts. Not a heck of a bug, just wondering if there are other problems related to it. |

Re: Maemo 5 PR1.2: Bugs
Today I discovered another bug: my Calendar-Widget got broken
There are no more events shown after the 20th of June until one event late in December, though there are lots of events in my calendar(s) for the next months. Hide/Show Calendar doesn't change anything, and also reboot didn't help. When I had a look at my homescreen today I noticed, that the calendar widget which normally is showing 5 events was only showing 4 (3 in the next few days, one in December), with the last line empty  So I added a new event in June, just to see what happens. Now there are 5 events in the widget, 4 from June and the last one from December - although there are some more events in June and a lot more before December  Defective Skype-App, Mail-App and other non-critical bugs are one thing, but this one is really annoying, and slowly I'm really pi**ed off by the incompetence of Nokia to deliver a working high-end-device  CU - M_99 |
Re: Maemo 5 PR1.2: Bugs
Im sure someone has mentioned it but just incase...
There seems to be a bug in any app where typing, if the first letter is to be a capital letter then it is now impossable to make it a small letter, sending an email for example, the address is made up of small letters so if holding the shift one could force a capital using the shift. When typing the actual email a capital is forced by default, before this could be changed to a small letter using the shift key, this is now impossable! Instead one has to type a small letter after the caps and then delete the first, very annoying for some passwords that don't have a capital letter at the start. |
Re: Maemo 5 PR1.2: Bugs
Sorry if these have been mentioned earlier:
- Breathing led works only occasionally when phone is being charged. - The incoming call alert stopped showing Greek character input names even if these are visible in the phonebook. Phone now only shows the numbers. Same with the sms and other messaging. Greek also disappeared from the language selection... - The phone application has portrait enabled, and when picking the phone, it takes 5-7s. to be able to answer as the screen blanks All in all, I am not sure if anything has got much better, but in daily use, I wonder if things are becoming slower. I fully flashed the phone to 1.1.1 prior to upgrade to 1.2. I've installed only a fraction of apps that I used to have before the upgrade... |

I've tried repairing (power cycling, even battery out) to no avail. This is a real problem, I'd flash back to PR1.1.1 if possible (I understand that's not an option...), it worked perfectly before this upgrade... Is it possible for me to raise this as a bug, doesn't look like its already raised... edit: I updated using OTA, in Ireland. |
Re: Maemo 5 PR1.2: Bugs
I've found this problem after PR1.2 upgrade OTA in Spain:
- When I receive a phone call and push the green answer button, the screen makes a strange glitch, it seems to move to the bottom side of the phone and you can even see a little glimpse of the desktop wallpaper and widgets. - After that, I can push again the button to answer the call without problems. Any idea how to fix it? Maybe a problem with some other applications/widgets? |
Re: Maemo 5 PR1.2: Bugs
ivgalvez,
Worrying many have reported about that issue. I do not know if there is bug report but i´m quite sure that it has something to do with installed apps/widgets because it´s happening only to some people. try power search with glitch search term. |

Re: Maemo 5 PR1.2: Bugs
I'm sorry if this is already mentioned.. while viewing one app in potrait mode, opening dashboard kinda freaks out and instead one is taken to desktop and not the dashboard.. even worst, at one point the whole display freaked out and the display was limited only in the left bottom portion of the screen and got stuck for a while..:(

Re: Maemo 5 PR1.2: Bugs
I can't get into the 'themes' settings any more... Anyone else?

Re: Maemo 5 PR1.2: Bugs
Don't know if it was mentioned before, but since PR 1.2 I had lots of "internal errors - application had to be closed"
First it was relatively vague what's going on, but after a few days of observation I found out that it seems to happen every time when two "web-applications" are started at the same time. For example - I'm browsing the web (with standard-browser) at the time when emails get checked -> notification that an error occured in mailapp and it had to be closed - I'm reading RSS-Feeds (with standard-app), feeds get updated at the time when emails get checked -> notification that an error occured in mailapp and it had to be closed CU - M_99 |
Re: Maemo 5 PR1.2: Bugs
Diffinately the Browser bugged! it consume more than 23% of RAM and loaded the CPU to 100% sometimes and constantly using 30-47% CPU at all time. This browser suck the juice out of my device!
app manager also bugged in this version. Using the device is painfully right now. |

use the extras-devel n install msn (haze) 0.9 before i log on or activate it, i use msn's own live messenger to log on then log off. then i activate msn haze n it started working again. same trick didn't work when using pidgin. don't use pecan either. i found out it happened everytime i logged on else where while n900 is still connected to msn, then i lose the contacts. i find msn butterfly from devel works better than haze now. at least for me, n doesn't have the no contacts problem period |
Re: Maemo 5 PR1.2: Bugs
The camera bug is annoying when changing exposure to 0.5+ when you are using manual ISO.

Re: Maemo 5 PR1.2: Bugs
+1 Email notification sound playback is buggy
+1 Screen glitches when answering calls (annoying) +1 Video recording and playback not smooth (was better with 1.1) +1 When FM transmitter enabled, it sometimes plays music through speakers at random time for 1-3 seconds + RingTone playback buggy Opinion of 1.2 ? Made my experience with n900 worse... |

Also, I have gained an insane autonomy with 1.2 relative to 1.1.1. Not sure why, but I do. When low usage, I get away with 10 minutes of charge when battery is low for the day. |
Re: Maemo 5 PR1.2: Bugs
Has this one been noticed:
Open the main menu (that lets you launch programs) Scroll down to the bottom so the icons won't move up the screen any further Press your finger directly on an icon so it glows Move your finger up so that the icons move about 10 pixels (if you move too far, the kinetic scrolling will kick in and move the icons back..) take your finger off the screen Notice that the icon is still glowing as though you still hold your finger.. And in a few seconds more, the menu will flick into rearrange icons mode |
Re: Maemo 5 PR1.2: Bugs
I´m just wondering here. Could someone explain why they optificated quite many things on n900? When we were waiting for 1.2 there was couple of messages from nokia employees that hinted about testing problems because of optification. Now it seems that there is some multitasking problems with browser + music on some people.
I have over 50% free space available on my rootfs. WOOHOOO. Why? If extra apps are optificated and some of them take little space from rootfs then why waste fast memory. Isn´t rootfs right now just sitting there for sake of it. |
Re: Maemo 5 PR1.2: Bugs
I have had a lot of trouble after pr 1.2 and the newest eMMC image. I have not managed to pinpoint what the problem was/is. I have re-flashed several times; both images. The first couple of times it worked great for a day or two, then the screen and phone behaved like it was "infected" erratic behavior of the screen and the solution for me (as i am no Linux guru). I manage very well in the MS sphere which is my profession. That said. Id like to say this if it can help anyone. After this re-flash, both images, the phone worked very well for several days.
My software/package status is (alphabetical order): agtl 0.6.1.3-1 bluezwitch 1.0.0.-2 conversations inbox desktop widget 1.1.1 currency converter 0.8-7 cuteexplorer 1.1.1-1 fmms 1.1.8 leafpad 0.8.17le-0maemo1 martian memory 1.0-3-fremantle5 mobile maps 9 demo 7.71.0 / nordics pyreciepe 0.5.1-3 simple brightness applet 1.1-1maemo0 theme marina (in use) 1.095 wifieye 1.0-3 No i dont think this will be an eyopener for anyone, but it might help someone get closer to which code thats a killer for the new pr 1.2. |

Anyway, the reason for space on rootfs is because they need space for libs. Common libs are pulled to root, as I can attest by having about 30-40 apps installed, all optified, but they keep pulling stuff like older libs, newer libs, dependencies on their own libs, etc. I'm down to 50M or so. Also, because it was silly to keep things like the apt-get cache on root, which is expensive, knowing the MMC handles multi-megabyte per second throughput which is more than enough for a download and an index. That alone freed 15M+ on mine. Quote:

Re: Maemo 5 PR1.2: Bugs
Have anyone noticed that after PR1.2 some icons are missing in GTK applications?
In cbrpager the 'zoom in' and 'zoom out' icons are missing, also some icons are missing in Abiword and GNumeric. |
