Well I am now at 1.3Ghz at 1300000uV :) Have been lowering the voltage and testing stability :)

Pretty happy with this though, hardly any extra battery drain under load yet noticeable difference in speed :)

Don't blame the ui, blame your own behavior toward your chipset.

All the ui does is send the command too the kernel module, similar to doing it with a terminal. Nothing more.

I know what UI does , but how can you explain my phone is stable for more than 24 hours so far with 1350mhz and 1.3375 v and when I tried 1350mhz with 1.35v with opptimizer I got a reboot in ~10 seconds . It's weird .

try 1.375ghz with 137500000, so stable here

Donated.

I'm testing 1400MHz, voltage 1325000, SR on.

Imagine your chipset is your model gf, she's hot but can only take so much abuse. You on the other hand expect to treat her like the random hook up you had last week, and she can't take that abuse because she doesn't like it rough, because she's a pretty girl that's finicky, I hope that analogy made sense.

yes it makes sense , and I have a little knowledge about overclocking (more at pc) but still can't figure why these two almost identical methods to set a frequency and voltage have such different results .

I went to a steak house last week, the steak was good. I went back to the same steak house a few days later, the steak was overcooked, the chipsets on the N9's are like this different days and different steaks, no 2 chips are exactly a like. I got an ok steak and I'm fine with that. Learn to accept that you won't get a perfect steak every time you go to the same steak house.

it's a bit awkward having to set the freq over again after each of aforementioned...

True, its not a good idea to implement it in that way without a piece of code that checks for a crash or an unexpected reboot.

Meaning that if you reboot the phone yourself then the frequency is automatically reapplied, BUT if the phone crashes and you restart the phone, a SAFEMODE event happens which stops the last frequency being applied, then you must re enter the frequency and voltage manually.

This is to avoid reboot loops under unstable frequencies/voltages where the only option to recover your device is a reflash.

This method is implemented into the N900's power-kernel module.

I'm sorry if this is a noob question, but how do I go about installing this w/ the open mode kernel? Since I'm already using the open kernel, I shouldn't need inception, right?

I didn't say I'm dissapointed about my N9 , it runs very well at 1350mhz with 1.3375v and sr off , battery lasts almost the same like default , now I'll try 1.325v .

Well, try to read as far as the 2nd sentence of the first post at least.

Well I made the code open source so we don't have to guess if I made some mistake, you can always take a look...

Its very unlikely that its your code :)

Most likely he has an app or something random has happened which causes his device to respond differently. Computers nowadays can be so flipping temperamental!

They are so similar to women, one thing could be perfect to her, then the updated version of that thing could be the worst thing in life. Unpredictable!

I'd tried using Aegis fixed origin but it doesn't do anything. When installing the package, it says that the package optimizer was denied because "-- origin ' ' does not allow it"

<Sniper_swe> oc gui working good with open mode kernel. had ti use aegis fixed origin to install for some reason
<CreamyG31337> yeah we use some extra security when installing, itsnotabigtruck understands better. i will ask him about this
<Sniper_swe> okay. no biggi tho. noticed when indtslling first file tjst aegis complaining on origin so answer to proboem was easy. might be good to let open mode users know to use fixed origin when installing:) thanks again!

(sorry that's all I know. sounds like it should have worked)

Sorry for being a dummy in this thread, actually I'm facing a problem which seem to be unsolvable!!! because I've searched a lot but no solutions.

thing is, I've installed both UI and kernel module with inception but every time I try to OC the phone it'll tell me permission denied, try installing this package via /usr/sbin/incept

I've tried it more than 3 times, I restarted the phone and everything! nothing has been solved :(:(

how to uninstall this? does uninstalling from "manage applications" will completely remove this? I want to remove this completely because i want to reinstall this. By mistake I installed this first without using incept(directly clicked deb file). it says that the package optimizer was denied because "-- origin ' ' does not allow it". I tried reinstalling many times, including inception. help please!

Try this before installing the packages with incept:

Go to the terminal
devel-su
rootme
killall -q pkgmgrd
rm -f /var/lib/dpkg/lock

The above was posted at the INCEPTION SITE, the first things you need to do after installing inception.

How I did it with open mode kernel:
Saved the files to MyDocs

devel-su

rootme

cd /home/user/MyDocs

AEGIS_FIXED_ORIGIN=com.nokia.maemo dpkg -i opptimizer_1.5.3_armel.deb

AEGIS_FIXED_ORIGIN=com.nokia.maemo dpkg -i opptimizer-ui_1.0.1_armel.deb

DONE! Start OCing!

Unfortunately, that's EXACTLY what I did, and it didn't work.

Don't worry about it though, I ended up going back to the normal kernel. I don't really have the computer skills required to make open mode necessary or useful. Inception with the normal kernel works just fine.

Re: overclocking kernel modules + UI for PR1.2 [ko v1.5.3] [ui v1.0.1]

Okay, I will send out a new version really soon to all the donators and people that requested to beta test.
I have done some major changes to make it easier and safer to use. There is now a database created of all your test results in the UI. When you successfully complete a test it will count this as your result for that voltage / frequency combination, and also applies it towards any lower frequencies at the same voltage. Any frequency / voltage combo with a total of > 15,000 can be selected to be applied on startup. Any time a test fails, the freq/voltage combo and any higher frequencies at the same voltage are going to give you a warning before you try them again. I suspect this may not work 100% reliably due to disk cache, we can deal with that later though.

There's also 5 profile slots now, so you can use those however you want too.

The UI package now installs a daemon to apply whichever profile was selected to be applied on startup, if any. It will abort this if your last restart reason is due to a crash, or if it restarted within 15 seconds of applying the overclock last time, and also double checks all the test results from the UI to make sure it looks safe to try. Only thing left to do is get that loading a bit earlier, right now it's loading about a minute after boot with all the other normal apps you installed. Once I'm sure there's no bugs, we can do that.

I'm using this but the 1300 file from /opt/overclock/ contains this

Code:

/usr/sbin/aegisctl -k
/sbin/insmod /lib/modules/2.6.32.48-dfl61-20115101/symsearch.ko
/sbin/insmod /lib/modules/2.6.32.48-dfl61-20115101/opptimizer_n9.ko
echo 0 > /sys/power/sr_vdd1_autocomp
echo 0 > /sys/power/sr_vdd2_autocomp
echo 1350000000 1312500 > /proc/opptimizer
echo 75 > /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpufreq/ondemand/up_threshold
echo 150000 > /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpufreq/ondemand/sampling_rate

PS : Still running stable since last night at 1.3125v :D
