Re: [Announce] apkenv (N900, N950, N9)

It could do any apkenv-qml from https://github.com/QKit/apkenv-qml/downloads
All available versions of apkenv-qml go without apkenv binaries.

i have cheked now, if i have a folder /opt/apkenv/bin with apkenv bin new installation of apkenv-qml delete that folder....

KiRiK 2012-11-05 11:24

Re: [Announce] apkenv (N900, N950, N9)

You shuld install apkenv binaries by hands, not with any apkenv-qml.

dann9 2012-11-05 11:28

Re: [Announce] apkenv (N900, N950, N9)

it's clear i change folder for my apkenv bin so i can install new upgrade.
is strage that i use your default folder for my bin, new installation delete it.
thanks for your clarification and your work

Why dont you just wait for the new version that is in development?

We would need a little more information to do that matey.

What games have you tried, can you run these through the terminal? Have you read the wiki and followed the correct procedure?

http://wiki.maemo.org/Apkenv

However as it has been said before and posted in the installation instructions that these binaries are out of date and should not be used anymore. So it would be best to wait for the updated package.

Now that Angry Birds Star Wars is out, has anyone tested does it work with apkenv?

tested with HD 1.0.0 and SD no ads 1.0.1, both do not work
Missing library dependencies

Couldn't add to apkenv wiki due to this error.

I tried both the SD and HD Android versions and both report missing library dependencies.

Tried the games from the new Android Humble Bundle but none of them worked, not supported yet or not native.

Re: [Announce] apkenv (N900, N950, N9)

I don't think networking is availabe via apkenv, but I could be wrong. Works fine in Nitdroid though, I have it installed (n900).

jd4200 2012-11-15 07:44

Re: [Announce] apkenv (N900, N950, N9)

Thanks, I'm pretty sure it doesn't require any networking capabilities, it just generates a code based of a secure key.

How to uninstall apkenv?

sifo 2012-11-15 13:58

Re: [Announce] apkenv (N900, N950, N9)

Just remove the apkenv directory.

Re: [Announce] apkenv (N900, N950, N9)

Finally tried 2gis... No luck so far:
2.5.1(for older Androids) - missing library dependency
2.6.2 (for newer Androids) - Not supported yet

Is is a native Open GL ES game? If not, it has no chance of working. apkenv is not Davlik. apkenv is not a VM. Read the thread.

News

2012-11-16 Some documentation on how to check if an .apk can theoretically work with apkenv:

Get the .apk file you want to run
Use an "unzip" utility to extract the files in the apk
Look for .so files in lib/armeabi/ (sometimes you have to look in lib/armeabi-v7a/ as well)
Check for JNI methods: strings libyourapplication.so | grep Java_
If some methods are found (and ideally if they have a name that sounds like rendering, updating, initalization, resizing or touch or button input functions), chances are good
If not, grep for JNI_OnLoad - if this function exists, it could be that you can still get it working (if the library registers its functions at runtime using JNI_OnLoad)
If you find methods starting with Java_ (or the JNI_OnLoad function), it means that it is theoretically possible to get it working with apkenv. If you don't find a .so file at all, or if it doesn't have any of the functions mentioned above, then apkenv can not be used to get this application/game running (and never will be). As an exercise for the reader, list applications/games for which the Java_ functions exist, and what function names there are. Happy hunting!

2012-11-16 The wrapper generator scripts that are used to generate compatiblity function wrappers are now open source:

github.com/harmattan/apkenv-wrapper-generator

Contributions welcome. You can use these scripts to extract a list of required library functions (libc, OpenGL ES) from JNI libraries and then post-process the list of required functions and then build lightweight wrapper functions from them. The scripts are quite hack-ish at some corners, but they Work For Me(tm). Cleaner solutions to getting the prototype declaration of a function name are welcome, as are improvements to the code generator (generate_wrappers.py). More to come, stay tuned!
Thanks for the update THP

Hello all, Angry birds space was working fine for me but since I updated system-ui with quicktweak 9.5, Angry birds space keeps crashing !

Indeed, it freeze before accessing the menu... I tried to remove the sqlite db and so on, but it keeps crashing... Do you have any ideas how to solve the problem ?

Thank you :)

The layest version of quicktweak comes with options for apkenv, check the pdf for instructions on how to use n9qtweak with apkenv.

Good developers started coding when they were younger than you . Also coding is like any other talent , it makes sense only if you like it and make effort .

Re: [Announce] apkenv (N900, N950, N9)

For the apkenv-wrapper one needs Scratchbox installed. I had it before but due to HDD problems I lost it - now it can't be installed because the harmattan-dev site is down and some files can't be downloaded. I am stuck at downloading "arm-public-sdk-rootstrap.tgz". I beg people who have Scratchbox already installed to upload this file (arm-public-sdk-rootstrap.tgz) somewhere since I am not the only one who needs it to complete the installation.
