but with 1.19 notification are working without android notification by coderus! its included in system,u have just to set whatsapp open in background when boot up. and all android notification are visible from lockscreen.

edit: to be honest i have also installed android notification from coderus,but for now is not abilited,so i can assume that notifications work without it

Yeah I agree it would be nice to have that... But if you want to chat with person x and you can't se his private messages because they are crypted, you can always create a group where is only you and person x. Group messages are not crypted.

Using Android WA for now and patiently waiting for encryption support.

I tried installing Whatsup but somehow installation failed. It kept installing for a solid hour; after that I decided to go to sleep. At morning I discovered that I indeed have a whatsup icon in my menu. App however won't open. When trying to open from terminal it halts with error about segmentation fault. (Not exact error message because of finnish locale).

Removing the faulty app does not work either. No success from the launcher. From the terminal I got error message saying "Could not find whatsup"

Any ideas how to get rid of the failed installation (0.1-10) while I wait for the next version?

How to register with whatsup-0.2-1? I tried SMS and Call. I get a call from WhatSapp, with the activation key, whether I click SMS or Call and the Whatsup just waits on "Registering..." for ever. How can I cancel the wait and enter activation key manually?

When i registered, i just hit the call button and it registered automaticly in few seconds.. I think those buttons have gone mixed up. :D I mean when i first registered and hit the SMS button, i received call. Just try again maybe, uninstall the app, reboot, install again and reboot.

Hi,

I have observed that the missing contacts problem is only appearing when whatsup is starting automatically. If it's manually starting after system boot contacts are there. Can somebody confirm this?
Another thing is that when whatsup is running and I open the jolla store it first jumps into whatsup and then to the store. Other way round is also. Starting whatsup first jumps into store and then to whatsup. Somebody else got this too?

Finally I successfully registered it. Used Call button and received SMS. I thought I tried before, but maybe not.

Today, some crazy, unknown contact sent me a message.
From then WhatsUp froze and cannot be used.
I had the same message in N9 whatsUp client but managed to delete it. Here, now in SFOS I cannot and will stay there bugging me.
Tried to Uninstall and reinstall, but all the messages are still there.
Tried to open offline and deleted and muted the group and message, but no luck!
What to delete in order the app to be functional again. Don't care if I have to delete all messages and start over from point zero.

EDIT: Deleted everything whose name was Whatsup and reinstalled. Everything OK now!

But... I think I was able to receive encrypted messages before... I noticed this problem just after SepiPerez quitted developing whatsup?

@Saurus, you can receive all the messages as long as you never try the Android version of the app.

If one day you tried the Android app, the Whatsapp servers sends you encrypted messages that you are not able to decrypt if you are no longer using the Android (and iOS?) app.

it seams that Whatsup has stooped working for me today. I still can receive messages but I can't send (red indicator). I'm on v0.1-10 and live in Germany around Frankfurt ...

Anyone with similar problems?

yes :) I live in Germany (Bavaria) and Whatsapp hasn't worked today. Now I updated Whatsapp until 0.2-1 and I can send / receive the messages again :)

It not work for me. Cannot register my number. The buttons sms and call me not working. What I am doing wrong?

Before I used Whatsapp on Andoid and Iphone. I even delete my whatsapp account, but looks nothing helps.
I got the idea that only users that register before and already used whatsup before can use whatsup again.

If Ik look in the terminal I see this output:

Works great, but it cuts of the last word of every message when sending (need to press space after every word to send complete sentence)..

Also, as you mentioned HtheB, the emoji's are doubling up... other than that, its working great :)

it's not encryption, but it's a workaround for people with the encryption problem :)
