I'm just wondering how many more of these 'failures' Elop can make before he is given the boot

Advice to Elop: You can't blaim the world for bing too fast, the problem is that you are too slow.

But off course, he came from the office world at the time when there was no real competitors plus a major release every 5 years :D

If he: 1) kept his mouth shut about Symbian it would still be a big seller there, 2) was actually using or competing effectively with Android with something he hadn't killed off yet, 3) shown how WP7 was considered an option to Android (it isn't) and 4) is trying to spin Nokia's current state of affairs based on a rapidly changing market which is why he was hired in the first place and that's being used as a scapegoat for his failures and the Nokia Board of Directors keep him on as CEO... they get whatever they deserve.

Seriously. Wow. I'm waiting on him to argue that the sky isn't really blue next.

In Helsingin Sanomat Risto Siilasmaa says that Nokia has an alternate plan for the case in which Microsoft co-operation fails. Also, Elop has boards “full support”, I suppose that his days are numbered now, OPK also got fired soon after similar support.

Let's hope plan B don't include any android devices. That would be one step worse than Windows for nokia.

Personally I hope for a new maemo but more realistic would be to join tizen.

Unfortunately the only option is android. It's simply not realistic for nokia to run its own new os again since they killed everything within nokia.

When surface comes to you. It will slowly eating the market(together with cheaper ones) . That will give users a complete the set with a windows 8 phone. Why not one from nokia?

In soccer, if the club goes out to declare continued support to the coach, it ALWAYS means he has less than a week left. This quote however, seems to be more along the way of "i am impressed what he has managed to do already" - which tells another, fantasy genre, story. More comical ali than replacement hunter.
