Re: What have been your 'wow' moments with the N900 so far?
the cricket was brilliant- maybe the biggest wow of a mobile device like the n900 is that it allows us to recieve 'wow' moments.

Just a nice little wow moment today....won't be for those of you in USA or Canada but international readers, read on.
Using DialCentral, GoogleVoice and a Gizmo account I'm now making FREE calls to anywhere/anyphone in USA or Canada. I'm in New Zealand. No delay, pretty seemless and very very good voice Quality. WOW  Mother in law in Vancouver was blown away. See U |

Listening to a podcast in my car using the FM Transmitter (that I previously unlocked using information from this forum, thanks!) while also tracking my route via A-GPS in Maemo Mapper. At a traffic light I was even able to quickly jot down a note that I remembered, using the stylus and Xournal.
Simply the easy and powerful multi tasking is a wow factor on its own. The various said tasks are each one more :) Oh and ofcourse, knots! Streaming videos from my pc in good quality and seeking! |

i like my n900 but as yet i dont think i have had a wow moment , although everything works well for me nothing is truly wow unless its revolutionary
and up to now its just not. im hoping apps and updates in future can change this. the best thing about it though has to be the multi tasking |

Keep in mind, I came from the Droid and 3gS but I knew what I was purchasing and that the N900 is still in the development stage. Anyways, my Wow was...Wow it seems alright but with out the extra software and apps this isn't as great as everyone makes it out to be. But! Yes there is a but :) after a couple of days of digging deeper, learning more and finding something new everyday, was like having Christmas every morning. Everyday I find myself wanting to Wow something new about the device. Sure the apps were nice on the Droid but there were limits...but not now...not with the N900. Love it and the entire experience has been a Wow and I hope it keeps getting better. Oh, and having a helpful community makes a huge difference. Thanks everyone

I forgot one important Wow. I know some of you don't like the keyboard but when using the DROID's keyboard for awhile and then switching to the N900...It makes you wanna go on the Droid forums and laugh at the crappy keyboard that they are stuck using....lol but I am too nice to do that ;) Awesome keyboard compared to some (not saying it's the best but it's a lot better then what I had)

Re: What have been your 'wow' moments with the N900 so far?
I discovered that my phone on 3G and GPRS/EDGE was given a public IP address and since I already had the SSH server installed I was able to SSH into it. I thought: "Wouldn't it be cool if it could do dynamic DNS". I googled around a bit, found a python script that could update dyndns and within two minutes I had that installed + a small shell script in /etc/network/if-up.d that called the python script each time the phone went online. All in all I reckon it took me less than five minutes to implement a crude but working dyndns support.
