Re: Why is N900 so slow?

you could try a reinstall of the emmc and the firmware

you could try overclocking to say 700mhz or 800mhz but this will void your warranty

have you got devil apps installed etc

there are alot of reasons your n900 may have slowed down , just think your pc slows down sometimes and the n900 is like a mini pc

the os is terribly slooow.... i can't watch flash videos anymore its too slow...
i don't know what they have done to my device, they said, they just fixed the usb port and made a software update....

Have you tried to switch it off and then on?
- Switch off
- Take battery off
- Put i back and restart

If it's still slow then
- Start xTerminal from more
- Run command top
- Report here is something is on top with high cpu (over 10% of cpu, xorg should be 1-3% its normal)

Also please tell us. Have you installed anything from extras testing or development?

Actually, when i got back my phone ,it was set on the factory configuration like if i just bought it, without extra apps.

I already used top and ps...

I see nothing particular, except xOrg consuming about 2% of CPU...
i dont see either unknown daemon or other stuff running in backgroung...

il will try again to flash...
install the first release of Mameo, and then update from the device

Thank you for your answers

PS: If i overclock , how nokia's customer services can notice it ??

Re: Why is N900 so slow?

All these posts makes evident that we need some benchmark tool (possibly relying on default nokia apps), in order to test slow downs.

Examples:
test1 -> render an html file
test2 -> open and close an application
test3 -> cpu consumption while playing a video
test4 -> open 10 apps together
test5 -> ...

Hi. Yes, I still love my N900 too... but... hey... I paid something like 500€... for a beta? yep... something is wrong.

BTW, I still love my N900, and I still write down my code with the marvellous Qt :)

N900 power :)

Not quite ...I have about 75Mb free

Try running apt-get autoclean / autoremove see if it makes a difference
