this will make it show up in desktop shortcuts and in the app menu as Transmission 1.76

I have created this as a file with Leafpad and saved it in MyDocs. I then opened FileBox and have gone to copy it that location (as Root) and the original file is 2.2kb whereas this one is 303 bytes. Is it still safe to overwrite it even though there is a massive difference in size?

Yeah, it is a good programme. I was surprised at how well the N900 with Transmission 1.76 handles torrents.

My N900 is stock speed and it works well. It locks up the phone for a few minutes when starting a new torrent.....while it writes the file to disk.....but then after that it is fine and I don't even notice it is running.

It is really good for seeding files as well. I used to leave my desktop PC or my laptop on overnight when I used to seed torrent files which is not good when the electricity bill comes through the post. Also, I've never been truly comfortable with leaving my PC's on overnight incase they catch fire, plus they are so damned noisy. I had a mobo burn out on me once.

It's so much more convenient doing this sort of thing through my N900 whiich uses so much less power and doesn't keep me awake at night lol. Love it.

It is perfectly safe. I just removed the localization entries since they are useless on maemo.

Transmission works fine if you download to sd card. Plus it is accepted by closed private trackers. None of mine allow ctorrent let alone qtrapids.

Well I don't use open trackers. They suck.
Faked user agent string is easily detected and results in kick/ban.

I use rtorrent on the n900 , much simpler and use very low resources ...

There are tracker scripts that can identify a torrent client by its behaviour. If it doesn't match user agent string it throws a warning.

Agreed. I'm on a couple of private trackers and thats why I find Transmission on the N900 invaluable because seeding and keeping my ratio up with this little device is a breeze.

Thanks for your help with that config file mate. I'm gonna copy it over in the morning 'cos I got Transmission running at the moment and I'm just about go to the land of sleep hehe.

Those are not scripts by script kiddies like you. They are plugin scripts written by the tracker developers. Some site admins of the best trackers like sct or TV have their own devlopers just for cheat detection development. I'm co-admin on a private tracker so i can tell you they work VERY well.

I would never invite someone with your track record. Sorry.
