Sure, and the moon landing was a hoax

Nokia gutted themselves long before Elop entered.

Several large retailers of non-carrier-contract phones (even a very conservative one that usually lowers prices last) here today halfed (!) the price of all WP7 phones. Stuff that cost 600€+ yesterday, now sells for 300€ or less (htc & sammy).
I spoke to one manager he said they just don't sell at all. He wont restock any for the forseeable future. Way to go MS.. ;)

So this is proof that Nokia+WP will be a flop? no, and here is why: HTC and Samsung both have much better Android phones and they are cheaper as well. They compete only with themselves, and most bang for the buck win every time. One WP phone sold for Samsung is one Android sale lost.

When Nokia enters, it will be THE alternative. They will compete with Android and will add value by lowering prices and including services as needed and back it up with commercials. It is a totally different ball game.

I have to add. Back in the old days when Symbian ruled, SE and Motorola almost went bancrupt because of Symbian while Nokia thrived.

I really can't see the average john doe here buy WP7 phones anytime soon. They have no appeal whatsoever to them. And I really wonder how you can see Nokia come out with mindblowing hardware anytime soon. Apart from their cameras they were always notoriously behind in specs...

I haven't so far seen a single thing that would somehow make WP7 succesful. Elop saying that it will be, isn’t enough. It has been a total flop. Maybe Nokia can add few more megapixels to camera than other WP7 phones, but I can't see that making any real difference what so ever. Nobody I know gives a damn about WP7. Nobody I know likes any Microsoft product except Xbox and even that is mildly succesfull despite being a Microsoft product, not because of it. People have learned to tolerate Windows at work, but I doubt anyone will be willing to carry one in their pocket just because it has a Nokia logo on it. Microsoft taking a piss on European competition and antitrust laws didn’t do any wonders for their brand in Europe either.

In other news, Nokia stock almost below four Euros in Helsinki today. If Elop was an athlete, he would be this one:
