Wow ebay already had couple of them listed at $915 - 950 range for 64gb version, that was way too much for a deprecated os phone imo.

I believe this will cover most if not all the spots that you see uncovered now.

International sales is not my field of experience but I can see how this (beautiful) proposal might become really difficult to execute, with small amounts of devices spread in different countries with different regulations, agreements, etc.

This is what the "open channel" caters for.

Huh? Not sure I understand at all what you're saying.

I interpreted it to mean that it may seem impossible now, but a combination of Nokia distribution and grey-market import may make it actually less difficult to find an N9 over the coming weeks, making co-operation of the kind now being discussed on this thread perhaps a little unnecessary and - relative to waiting things out - a little cumbersome.

...but that might not be it.

I tend to understand folks that are connected to marketing. Not in this case.

In my 5 stages of grief, I have just hit acceptance: "I can't fight it, I may as well prepare for it."

Ahhh! So maybe THAT'S what they meant by step 4 of 5 with the N900. Grief! So it really IS finally step 5 of 5 with the N9? :)

Re: [REQUEST] Community purchase plan for the Nokia N9

Someone had asked whether Nokia could sell devices through a community device program to users in countries where Nokia is not having direct N9 distribution - or at least this is how I understood the question.

The answer I gave is no, Nokia can't do this but probably the potential users of this program will be able to buy an N9 through third parties anyway.

Nokia has no plans of distribution of N9 in the USA. If a third party does then it's up to that third party to announce the availability and terms of the guarantee. Even if I'm not a sales person I don't think you will get any different answer from Nokia...

Ok, now I understand.

Safe to assume that those third parties that have shown any interest will receive stock unless they do so in large numbers or via a separate party that will secure and ship to (say) Amazon and the like?

That's easy to answer, just look at all the N900 owners with broken USB ports that get "offered" N8s substitutes instead of repair or replacement. And no, third-party distributors simply do not have the resources or know-how to repair broken devices, and the manufacturer won't be making many of them so don't count on availability of spares either.

Caveat emptor.
