The only way to make it work is to close and reopen the application. simply re-logging in does not work.

So basically everytime I open dialcentral I have to close and reopen it or I cannot send SMSes.

Anyone else seeing that?

I've heard reports of this behavior but not this bad. I've seen it only once and had hoped I made a chance to fix it but I guess I didn't.

What version of Dialcentral are you using?

Note if I remove the scrollbars it will just extend the text to off the screen.

Okay. I didn't realize that this wasn't your fault.

I just figured it was due to your sloppy and crazy programming from hell. *lol*

I don't mind filing a bug for this but it seems like you're more familiar with why this is occurring than me. Like I'm not even sure how to term this broken text wrap feature correctly without sounding like an idiot. :)

Anyway, let me know what to do. It's definitely a struggle sometimes when typing long text sentences and it seems like others have ran into similar troubles as well.

Feel free to post first for discussion. More people will see it here than on b.m.o. Yours just sounded rounded out enough that I didn't expect much more need for discussion

I like original reporters to file it, one for the credit and two so you can more easily stay in the loop to make sure its fixed to what was expected. You might sound like an idiot but once people try and reproduce it they will realize what you mean EDIT: and realize you aren't

Like with your last enhancement request, I'll just go in and fill in the wholes for anything I see.

I played with it to get an idea of what you mean. Unfortunetly its a dialog rather than a normal window, so fullscreen/unfullscreen doesn't really apply as well (I think). The best thing would be to encourage me to implement an enhancement I filed.

I think I answered all your other points as "expected behavior" also except callback number being forgotten. It turns out its a random bug. I made sure to file it. I get it reproducing no where near as often as you do. Are you shutting down while Dialcentral is still open?

If this pertains to the issue that the text scrolls to the right when you type and you can't see what you're typing then yes, that is a rather bad issue and I'd second that.

@epage

I was thinking about the Speed Dial idea...;)

Is it possible to run DC from the command line passing the Ph# to call and the CallBack# as arguments?

If so, we could use Personal Launcher to create Speed Dial links.:)

Personally I don't really see the need for speed-dialing within DC - that's what I use the contacts list for.
If I need to return a call I just click 'Dial' when looking at the voicemail or SMS :)

Re: Dialcentral 1.0

Just installed the latest version and I LOVE the ability to now show vmails only, sms only or both. Fantastic!

One 'nice to have' feature would be a date/time stamp on the received v-mails or sms.
As it is now it tells you for instance "86 mins ago" or "3 days ago".
There are times when it would be beneficial for me to see if a message came in on a particular day of the week or time and as it is now I cant get the first without some math and the second (time) is lost when it moves to "x days ago".

I don't want the message box too cluttered either with a lot of data so I don't know if one option may be to be tiny font....or a user setting how you want timestamp shown...etc

Maybe a user poll :)

Caution for people: this is the latest extras-devel version. I'd be somewhat tempted to prep it for release as is but wit the Fremantle 10-day quarantine mixed with needing 10 votes, it kind of discourages short release cycles.

Yeah, not sure how I would want to have that handled.

Reminder: Dialcentral only has 6 out of the needed 10 thumbs up for moving to extras. I would really like to see the extra thumbs ups come in before the 10 day quarantine is finished so it can get to Extras as soon as possible.

Re: Dialcentral 1.0

Super-tiny bug?

Sometimes I get a 'Refresh' message ontop of the message tab. I guess maybe it shows up if no refresh has been made in X mins? Anyway, if I refresh manually through the menu, that does not clear that refresh message and I have to still click on it.

As I said, a tiny one.

Please don't take this as an endorsement to jump to extras-devel. I am liable to breaking it at anytime. There will be times as I'm prepping for a release that I will ask people to run it. I do not think Ive made any login changes yet to 1.0.8 so 1.0.7-14 should also be fine (though Google can make this break for different users)

I haven't seen this behavior but have a small guess as to how it might happen. Can you try to see if you can figure out how to reproduce this and file a bug? If you can't go ahead and file a bug :)

Stupid question - is that process only for Maemo5 or also for the, more manly, Maemo4/Diablo? If so, where does one vote?

It is a new QA process that is Fremantle only.

I just keep a link the following page always open:
http://gc-dialer.garage.maemo.org/download.html
It has a link to view all Dialcentral bugs and one to file a Dialcentral bug. When following the link to file a bug, if you aren't already logged in, after login it doesn't return you to the exact same page, so I just close that tab and re-open.

What version are you running? Which device/OS? Those help me get a baseline for information for helping you.

How comfortable do you feel with the command line? With issues like this, they are usually different from person to person. What helps a lot in resolving them is if you are able to work together with me to resolve it. This involves grabbing and pasting a file in "~/.dialcentral/dialcentral.log". After I take a look at it, I'll let you know if there is more info that I'll need.

@Tintin

What I am trying to get is a quick way of dialing the numbers I call most in the quickest way...

Even through the GV web interface I have to scroll through a list of contacts to get to the one I want.

Most of the time opening DC on the N8x0, going to contacts, selecting the number etc.... is good enough.

What I's like to see is a 1 (maybe 2) click to call.:)

Re: Dialcentral 1.0

Can someone out there test/confirm this oddity I came across this morning.
I got my Skype number setup as the callback number and is linked in my GV.

I had DC and Skype open on my N810.
A person calls my GV number and Skype starts ringing.
It rings for a long time and no voice-mail is triggered.

(Skype vm works fine when calling directly to it and the DC captures all GV voicemails fine normally).

So was the above a combination that causes GV vmail to not trigger (having both Skype and DC open)?

I can do more tests tonight but was just curious if anyone else see this happening?

Glad to hear. I'm impressed Google hadn't made any of the rollouts that broke your account sooner. Mine also lasted a long time which made it so all of my debugging was done by proxy

Hello Epage, I really haven't seen this discussed to much. Would it be possibly to integrate google voice into the conversation/dialer apps already present in Freemantle instead of having a separate app? I'm sure this has been considered before I would just like to know if this is something we will ever see on the platform or if there are just too many technical hurdles.

Is there a way to pretty up the mobile site of GV using CSS editing or configuring browser user-agents so that this page

They keep things simple to allow for phones with web access but small screens and minimal browsers. Our browser is really of desktop quality and we have the big screen. I believe you can use Greasemonkey scripts to change the appearance. This capability is available on the N8x0 when you install "greasemonkey-webaddon". It has a GUI interface on the tablet.

Okay, I set my browser preferences to have web pages display as if I were using an iPhone.

I went to Google Voice and the difference was unremarkable. :(

Oh well, I guess it was at least worth the try.

As ashamed as I am to say this, but there's several other webpages that look pretty slick by having the browser changed to the iPhone settings. :)

Actually, I meant more of the design side, do you need any elements (buttons/layout etc) designed? I can design elements/icons/layouts for you.
