WHY DO PEOPLE NOT BOTHER TO UNDERSTAND WHAT 'SHIPPING' IS!!!
The industry term of shipping means the phones are being delivered to the distributors/retailers. Nokia have always done this this way. Its always been around 2 weeks from shipping that the phones are available.

You people are plain ignorant.

What's that even supposed to mean? "Don't post here unless you agree"? How about "don't post if you don't have **** to contribute."

Shipping clearly doesn't really imply delivery. But yeah, I'd appreciate it if next time, Nokia could learn to shut the **** up until they have something to show us.

i do not fully understand but i was just trying to say that if you think those people act useless, why are you trying to tell them? to educate them? to make them stop? do you think they did not already know that? it has been posted a hundred times that it is useless.
so instead of finding a place where you can have a conversation on a for YOU useful subject, you post here. That is what looks kind of useless to me.

this thread is like a lot of kitty's miauwing while waiting for there food to arrive on the kitchen floor. you can tell them to stop miauwing but they won't :P

the actual information you gave in your reply, saying that this is the way nokia does things and that the shipping nokia told about is the shipping to the retailers etc etc. that IS indeed true and could be useful information yes

I have a good feeling about Nokia USA shipping early this coming week... they currently have 2x my order total on hold - one on 11/12 and another on 11/13. This is not the norm, and I have never seen it previously. I'm guessing one is the normal weekly hold, another is the hold for the charge authorization.

I never imagined the day that I will be happy and just waiting for somebody take my money but
Nokia actually made people wish their cards are charged

Hehe... On an unrelated note, I find it rather amusing to read this thread, it's hard to wait for something you want so bad, and this thread should go on, people need to vent out.

Stupid question - but what day did Nokia USA begin offering preorders?

I got my preorder in on ::
#
# Order Placed: 09/08/2009 11:43:01 AM

I called last week and was told they were going out to people who preordered before me.

Thanks.

If that's the case it is a dumb way of processing your order, that means $1,400 in authorizations to buy a single product? Doesn't make sense, successful authorizations can be captured into a charge without doing a separate auth.

I am not sure I am the right source for this cause I would be biased hehe.. anyhoo if you have the money, choose a resort run by larger international hotel chain also don't come in the rainy season (now its rainy). As for the reasons, its quite, the beaches are nice, and if you are a diver, underwater reefs are worth a visit in some areas and if you ain't a diver, you could always get a ride in a submarine (make sure the water is not murky). Most of the resorts are pretty well designed and comfy and private, I suggest a water bungalow (with glass on the floor hehe) and some resorts have underwater restaurents n SPAs. Last but not least, one of the telcos do provide a data plan only SIM for your N900 and most of the resorts have WiFi everywhere.

Generally, yes. My order is supposedly on an "old" ordering system, so it's very likely it will be processed in an unusual way. Another possibility is that the weekly authorization that they've been doing is separate of normal billing, in such a way that the two processes aren't involved or aware of what happens in the other (i.e. weekly batch job to blindly authorization all queued orders, then when order enters the fulfillment stage it is individually authorized/charged unaware of any other successful authorizations). Who knows. It's definitely new and different, and makes me suspect something is going to happen. I can say for certain that I have almost $1450 tied up by Nokia at the moment.

Re: OPK: N900 deliveries have now started!!

Interesting trend...

Thread starts off with controversy about the shipment to distributors/retailers.
Now it's the controversy on how Nokia charge cards and the order of pre-orders going out.
Next, controversy on delivery companies?

Don't believe what they say on the phone. The salespeople don't know what is happening with N900.

What was the last anyone heard of MPD and when? Last I heard they were going to start sending them out on the 16th. Is this still the case?

My order status still says "pending stock" annoyingly! I hope it goes straight to "dispatched" tomorrow *crosses fingers*.

schnebeck 2009-11-15 13:00

Re: OPK: N900 deliveries have now started!!

Its quite interesting that nokia.de translate every press release nearly just-in-time. But the N900 shipping message has still not reached
http://www.nokia.de/nokia/presseloft

As there are for the N900 different keyboard layouts and different SKU for the different regions I think I still have to wait 2-4 weeks before I get my device.

In Germany the status is still unreleased, preorders possible, shipping maybe starts at Nov 25. But nobody really knows anything.

Bye

Thorsten

Hopefully, but from what I've read in this forum MPD havent received any stock yet. If they do get the stock tomorrow it could well be in the afternoon and I would doubt many of the pre-orders will be dispatched until Tuesday at the earliest.

As I ordered Nov 1st (after cancelling my Amazon order) I would think end of the week, possibly the following week is more likely....

I pre-ordered 28th September, hopefully I'll be near-ish the top of the list!

Anyone know when MPD started taking pre-orders? Don't think I waited too long before pre-ordering.

I hope they get it dispatched tomorrow and the people on the forums are wrong!

Literally cannot wait any longer!!

He also posted the DHL tracking link in his blog, so it seems to be true!

ooo that makes more sense - wonder what software versions he is on, could be an early version, or may as he is saying be the actual device! (I didn't read it carefully enough i assume!)

The guy provides a link on his blog to DHL for tracking but it shows a blank screen. I extracted the tracking # from the link: 1135349902

and put it into: http://www.dhl-usa.com/home/home.asp

It comes back with this:

This explains why he got the device so soon:

Its a bit odd for Nokia to send pre-production model as price though, because they wont let users to have them. But who knows...

Well, now at least I have some reason to wake up tomorrow morning and check my email ;)
But still Im setting my mind for week 48, so I wont be too much disappointed if nothing happens...

They dont get stock they said to me its sent directly from nokiaretail as they MPD run Nokia retail outlets cant wait:D

thats why when you go online to MPD and click on the n900 it directs you to the nokia site because they work together ;):D

Oh my only concern is you may not get from first batch as you preordered late because they do say first come first served

Wait, he has a real N900 or one of the developer's pre-production units?

Either way, glad to see the good news about the improved battery life. :)
