Interestingly Karl Borges Seems to have removed his profile from Linked In, the business networking site. If you search through google and click on the cached page there he is but click on the link and "We’re sorry, but the profile you requested does not exist."

Too much hate mail eh Karl?

Anyway, I would always try an email to both karl.borges@mobilephones direct.com or k.borges or karlborges... one of those should get a hit to his email.

Canceled my MPD pre-order. I have received my N900 from Nokia even with the battery delay. All I can say is if you can wait do so, it is an excellent device, but whether it is worth the aggravation is up to you.

I was wrong about my earlier number being for their head office :(

Cancelled!

Just called MPD myself stating that I had recieved an email saying that item would be dispatched 3rd Dec but I had heard whispers of a 2 week delay and wanted to see if that was correct. Guy confirmed this was correct, they were not expected for another 2 weeks now but the usual line that they were still the only people offering on contract and if I cancelled and re-ordered I would be put to the back of the queue, I said I had been promised multiple dates for dispatch and could not afford to rely on another one so my request for cancellation still stood.

Really wanted this phone guys but looks like Ill catch you all for next gen maemo 6 phone instead. Gutted.

So has this 2-week delay definitely been confirmed now? If so, then I think I am going to cancel as well and try to get the N900 some other way, or maybe even get another phone...but I'll wait until there is some kind of official confirmation (admittedly the chances of getting this are about as likely as getting the N900 this week from MPD )

Just spoke to a lady at NFS, and asked do you sell the N900 on contract, she said yes on T-Mobile & Vodaphone, but we don't have any in stock at the moment. I asked her if she knew when they'd be getting stock, she said Friday so they're expecting it to "be available" on Monday! I'm seriously considering a quick visit to my friend in London JUST to get this damn phone, or perhaps even just a day trip so I can give MPD two fingers and tell them to go screw themselves! My OH thinks I'm crazy to keep my pre-order with MPD, but I've told her that I'm not going to cut of my nose to spite my face. At the end of the day I want this phone on the best deal I can get as soon as I can get it!

I ended up getting an android handset (even though I know the huge limitations compared to the maemo platform) just because I wasn't going to be mucked about any longer, nokia's loss this time, it's just been too much of a mess. Ah well, maybe I'll be back in a few years time eh ;)

Emailed MPD to get my order cancelled last week and only just got the cancellation email this morning. To be fair they have handeled the whole release of this device so badly. This phone/tablet sells itself  .

To be fair, I've just been offered a job at Vodafone so I'll just wait and see what I get offered there, (hopefully an N900!) ;)

At least I've used Carphone warehouse before, at least they didnt produce a hype without having any solid facts themselves.

Off topic- what's your thoughts on the Android having originally planned for the N900? (sorry for the offtopic but just curious in case)

Ok, last phone call of the day from me (I am extremely fed up now!). Rang MPD, asked if they'd had the N900's in he said no. It's likely to be withing the next 2 weeks, Nokia have pushed it back again!

I asked if this was a general delay for everyone or just MPD, he said everyone (of course) "not even Regent Street have them in stock".

He then went on to say they should have there first delivery by the end of the week which will cover all pre-orders for September.

I tried to tell him what NFS had told me (see previous post), but think he got confused and thought I was on about last friday's delivery because he then went on to tell me that NFS received 100 and that was for pre-orders made with them before the N900 was available on MPD!

Had I recalled at the time that the person on these forums that claims to have gotten one from NFS, had only pre-ordered 21st Nov, I would have gone mental at him! Luckily for him I forgot about that at the time and just ended the conversation.

Thoroughly fed up,
Dexter

This is bad on MPD part this is the main reason why I never ordered through them this time around and never will again. There customer service is so bad, You should have seen them at the release of the N97 that was terrible.

Re: Mobile Phones Direct N900 Customers

I reckon, the reason for delay this time is because of the "random restarts" and the "mic" issue... which sucks! Nokia did say they had limited time but releasing a perfect phone THIS way really aint Nokia like! They are/already have lost alot of customers over the n97 release and now they are losin more!! :/

Tbh, I wouldn't rely on NFS too much either. They are FLAGSHIP (!!!) store and have been delaying N900 for quite a while too. Ridiculous! Girl that usually picks up the phone there sounds clueless anyway.

OK- So we've established that *at some point in December* (assuming all that doesn't go t*ts up as well) we could get the device ON CONTRACT (which is crucial for me) from Carphonewarehouse. Is there anywhere else?

Like i said, if there werent no issues with mic or random reboots, there wouldn't have been any more delays but as there is, they have smacked another 2 weeks delay. if i am right, neither MPD OR Flagship store will have the n900 in stock this weeks or maybe next too (as for 2 weeks delay) . as for ordering it from the flagship store, i still believe people who order from there will get it sooner then MPD :/

I already cancelled, screw em, why waste time emailing them? Just to hear there "it ain't our fault" excuses? And then be fed more false hope of a couple of weeks?

Every time we got a new date, that date comes right alongside yet another delay, they keep you interested with "late this week" "early next week" "just a couple more weeks" buulll shhite!

Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me..... Fool me this many times? Get fcukd

There seems to be a lot of confusion at the moment regarding the situation at the NFS. I just spoke to the general manager just a moment ago. I explained the situation that I need the N900 by this coming Saturday at the latest because I am departing on holiday for a month on Sunday. I checked with him that if I put down a deposit/pre-order would I receive it on Friday. He said the official release date is Friday 4th December and that I would definitely receive the device on that day. However he said if they get the delivery late that day it may be moved to Saturday morning at the latest.

That's nice to know, however knowing earlier experience with NFS and their "next week" estimates, I wouldn't get too excited... Time will tell.

If the pattern follows, then on or before the 4th of Dec you will receive an email from MPD saying expected stock 16th Dec.

Amazon has already sent this email out to it's customers.

The launch is obviously in some serious trouble.

Re: Mobile Phones Direct N900 Customers

Oh dear .. oh dear and so this madness goes on...

As I have been a member of the Consumer Action Group Forum for many years and have a @consumeractiongrup email and I have sent an email of complaint from my consumergroup email address n the hope it "may" get read (including links to this thread) and I have also sent an email to Nokia too. This email addy got a problem I had with Sky more promptly dealt with but I aint confident it willhave the same impact with good ole MPD.

For you guys who ordered the N900 months ago, its an absolute disgrace. For me (I ordered 2 weeks ago or so..) I will be waiting, not 2 weeks but however long it takes them to sort the back preorders out (IF they actually have any orders left to despatch after this fiasco !!) and probably by then I can walk into the CPW and just get one there and then...

I must admit I have not cancelled but I am seriously considering my options mainly on the basis of if this is the customer service prior to delivery of the phone, whats it like after if you have any issues??.. I hate to even think...

If am honest I aint in a mass hurry to get the phone and I can appreciate and understand problems with stock etc... my main gripe is, not one email at all to explain that the handset will be delayed due to stock etc..

I no longer wish to use the chat function (for wha its worth MPD, its as much good as a chocolate firguard) and as far as calling you... why not save yourself a phone bill and just disconnect your line, I can never get through and on the one ocassion I have (after waiting and waiting and waiting and ......) I spoke to a rude, blunt and very unhelpful person. Towards end of the call he simply said,
" you wanna complain? then put it in writing... bye" but before he put the phone down I said
"This company needs a training issue addressed - let me share it with you, simply two words - "Customer" and "Service", perhaps you can pass that on to your manager ?.."

"Will do" he answered .."bye"

A damn disgrace if you ask me, NEVER will I buy from this company again..
Rant over...

Decided not to wait until the 4th - I've just e-mailed MPD to cancel my order and followed up the e-mail with a fax just to be on the safe side.

Shame, cuz I was looking forward to the N900, but I just can't be doing with dealing with a bunch of total amateurs any more.

Not sure what I'll do handset-wise instead, but it's lunch time, so I might have a wander round Brighton and see what's on offer. My plan 'B' was the Samsung i8910, but I'm not sure I fancy the idea of another Symbian device...

Anyway, good luck to those that decide to hang on for MPD.

by a thread, but still hanging...like you, the Samsung i8910 was a possible second choice, but I've heard that the web browswer is a bit sluggish and it would also mean going on contract with Orange (not too keen on them looking at their prices). What other phones do people recommend if the N900 isn't going to work out for us?
