Re: [Announce] fMMS - MMS on the N900

I've been having problems too... unable to send or recieve. I'm on PR1.3. Network is 3UK.

I was using 'polite' and 'rude' but have just tried 'havoc' and now it seems to work.

Oh. It worked a couple of times but now isn't. I'm getting a different error message now.

Re: [Announce] fMMS - MMS on the N900

I've been following the MMS wiki and have PR1.3 and getting an error stating "Operation Failed. TIMED OUT. Please check your settings" and I'm following this wiki btw http://wiki.maemo.org/MMS which seems a little dated. I'm in polite mode and everything

Bondage Monkey 2010-11-08 03:45

Re: [Announce] fMMS - MMS on the N900

actually I got it to work after switching it to Havoc mode

Re: [Announce] fMMS - MMS on the N900

Hi everyone .

Sorry for being a total noob here (I am totally out of my depth here ;-) LOL)

I too have being having problems since updating to PR1.3 with varying errors depending on the settings I use . The best result I had was managing to receive an MMS but cannot send any . Then rest the device and got the same message 3 times all at the same time .

Just as a side note as I don't know if this could be related but I cannot use WI-FI to update the app catologue only 3G , whereas before on PR1.2 I could use WI-FI . Also my 3G connection seems to have slowed down too and seems to switch between 3G and 3.5G a lot more frequently as if it's "hunting" for a stable connection . On 1.2 it would find the best connection and "lock on" but now seems to be on-off-on-off-on . particularly when downloading files . not as bad for web pages for some reason .

Hope Fraals can find a quick soloution to this "small" problem soon but I feel the soloution is going to be a lot more complex than it appears on the surface .

Thanks to everyone for their support on this especially Fraals for all his hard work , it is very much appreciated .

Fattrucker

P.S.

I had this set up fine on PR1.2 even with using my regular internet access point (with a small adjustment.) and I was able to send "Large" pics too .

I also did a force upgrade to PR1:3 via Maemo Flasher . Could this be a bad install causing these problems for me and others ? It was an official Nokia image and the world release as far as I know .

Seems like you have some weird connectivity issues going on, and without /tmp/fmms.log I can't really say anything else :)

Btw, I updated the translations file to include some new strings, please help update them on transifex! :) http://www.transifex.net/projects/p/fmms/c/ui/

I've attached a log file in case it's of any help....

By the way I am a bit confused about this advice in the troubleshooting guide:

Quote:

How to verify settings are correct
Select 'Polite' mode in fMMS configuration
Press the taskbar (where signal strength, battery etc is shown), connect to the internet connection called "MMS"
If this fails, your settings are wrong.
If this suceeds, proceed
I don't have an internet connection called "MMS"

What format/what did you type in the "To" field? your MMSC replied: MMSC RESPONDED: {'Transaction-Id': '43630', 'Response-Text': '4501:Recipient list corrupt', 'MMS-Version': '1.0', 'Message-Type': 'm-send-conf', 'Response-Status': 'Error-message-format-corrupt'}

Re: [Announce] fMMS - MMS on the N900

a big thank you to frals for getting to the bottom of the issue i had with messages not loading + messages dissapearing.

he found that the fault was with one of my contacts avatar pictures being corrupted.

i change the offending avatar pic, and BAM all my fmms messages reappeared!!

PROBLEM SOLVED!

everyone get on board and donate something to frals for the fmms project. even for a few bucks just to say thanks, especially seeing all the time he puts into it + replying to peoples posts here and solving problems!

THANK YOU FRALS!

Regarding everyone having problems after upgrade to 1.3, please attach /tmp/fmms.log so I can try to debug, upgraded all my devices without any issues so unable to reproduce here :(

^yes, that's the error that I get on screen when the sending fails.

I just typed a regular UK mobile phone number (my own number as I was just doing it as a test to see if it worked). 07958xxxxxx

Yes... but how to fix it?!

I've double-checked all my settings against those in the Wiki, here (for Three UK)

I've even tried changing the "Access point name" from three.co.uk (as per the wiki) to mms.three.co.uk (as I've seen it listed elsewhere) but the same happens.

I'm kind of confused about APNs...in the earlier versions of fMMS you had to create one with fAPN, right? But according to the instructions this is no longer necessary. In any case, in the settings for 3 uk in the wiki it says
Quote:

Connection Name: 3 (no need to create new APN)

No trailing ; or anything like that?

No worries about your connection settings, since fMMS can communicate with the MMSC all settings are fine, since you said it worked fine I think there is a difference in what number you enter in the "To:" field, could you give me any clues regarding this?

I edited the missing German translations. As always, German sentences are much longer than English ones. I check if they match after the next update...

Re: [Announce] fMMS - MMS on the N900

Hi frals (Sorry I have been spelling your name wrongly-My bad)

As an update to things I have tried to include a log from FMMS so you might be able to work out what's going on . Also I have now received the same MMS 8 times (It just keeps coming seeming at random times without me doing anything with FMMS in between ) I have now received more MMS's from other phones too (multiple times I might add) and also a message pertaining to the MMS I received 8 times from my operator telling me I had an MMS waiting to be downloaded from their website using a unique password . As though I am NOT set up for MMS reception although I have received MMS's since without altering anything or turning off the phone . WIERD !

Here is the log I got , but can't remember what the settings were I've tried THAT MANY !

I tried putting the number in with the international code (ie. +447958xxxxxx) - no difference.

But, then I tried sending to a friend's mobile and it worked!

So it seems maybe it's something to do with trying to send it to myself? But the thing is, I've always been able to do that in the past, that's why I was doing that to test it.

So, hopefully problem solved. Thanks for your help.

Help.....

I'm on Vodafone UK and I keep getting the following message.

Operation failed
( -2, 'Name or service not known')
Please check your settings.

I have checked, double checked and rechecked all the settings.
I have cleared everything down and started from scratch, but to no avail.

Anyone got an idea what I'm doing wrong.

Thanks guys.

Frals or anyone

Had a search for this but couldn'y find the answer.
Do you know how to delete mms messages that fail to open? I've had a few and each time its my idiot gf sending contacts that fail to open and so i cant delete them either.
cba reinstalling fmms but was hoping for a delete option prior to opening mms or maybe as an option in a future update?

Thanks

That I can answer for you.

Click the offending mms and hold, then after a few seconds a menu will appear with the Delete option.

Nice and simple.

Long tap on the message from the main view and you should be able to delete them, as previous poster said :).
I'd be happy to take any log output from the messages with contacts that won't open, please send it to fmms@frals.se :)

On o2 uk

I have configured fAPN fine no issues but when it comes to configuring fMMS the screen shown in the video & the actual screen I get are 2different things when u click on settings thus meaning I cannot configure fMMS, I'm also using version version 1.2.8 & I have updated the phones firmware to the latest offered by Nokia.

Just a note that you can get your O2 MMS settings by simply sending a txt message to 2020 with the following word "active" you will then get one back from 2030.

I would recommend using 'Havoc' mode and it should just work, but it *might* work if you use gconf and set /apps/fmms/apn to the ID of your internet apn from /system/osso/connectivity/IAP and then switching to Polite, but no guarantees :(

Yes, "es_ES.po" is 100% translated (Spanish from Spain), but I think there is another file ("es.po") for the generic Spanish translation that does not appear at transifex and that I cannot translate. Can you get access to that file?

Best regards.

Re: [Announce] fMMS - MMS on the N900

Hello frals,

I have never been a big user of MMS. My network provider gave me a few free MMS so I decided to set it up so that my phone has full fuctionality. Great job!!

I have upgraded to 1.2.9 (from 1.2.7 I think) and have one or two issues. I have sent an mms (successfully when I checked with recipient) but fmms closed immediately after sending with no notification (the way a program closes when it crashes).
Also, I tried out the forwarding; i clicked on forward and saw that the original text was included, I clicked on top right arrow to go back but fmms crashed. If I open an mms, select reply, then top right arrow for back, it correctly takes me back to the previously opened mms.

I wonder if anyone else has had this problem. I am on PR1.3, have rebooted a few times. Any help appreciated

I can verify that, for me too, fmms crashes if you start to forward a message, and then tries to go back.

Sending an e-mail with log.

Not sure if this is a Push problem but I keep getting multiple messages from the same persons, and the same messages. At first I thought it was a network problem with their end but I have gotten the same issue, 3-5 messages for every one message someone sends me.

Is this a Push problem for me not having my internet running and how do I get the messages to stop!!!

Any chance that a codepage selection configuration option will be added in the future?
