Perhaps the gstreamer problem is why it doesn't play any videos for me at all.

Edit: Settings don't seem to work (won't open at all).

Log doesn't say anything useful for the videos not playing problem. It just says fetching URL forever (I can leave it there for minutes)

Is it possible to integrate YouTube movies into CuteTube?
It's probably searchable in CT, but a specific moviesbutton or a movie option under search would be sweet.
Maybe a list of genres or something.
Probably not the hottest movierange at the moment but there are some stuff worth seeing anyhow.

Dont know if it´s doable but I think it would be a nice feature :)

Just saw that it was possible to change search to films from settings.
I tried it but it didn´t list any films. Maybe a work in progress

I have no idea if this would be wanted or doable (from within cutetube or in another app). Say you have a 5 part series you want to download 50 min total in 5 10 minute parts.
Abilty to cutejoin all the downloaded mp4 files into one file with a user designated name (ie instead of bla part 1, bla part 2, just bla. that way you could reconstruct movies.
probably not doable right?

You need to upgrade python2.5-qt4 to version 4.7.5. Open a terminal and run following commands:

$ apt-get update
$ apt-get install python2.5-qt4

Nope, pvr images are static afaik, so unless you implement a splash screen window, you can't :(

And have a look at http://doc.qt.nokia.com/4.7.old/qsplashscreen.html, I never really tried it, but it might work :)

Thanks. I'm re-writing cuteTube using QML/C++ atm, so I'll look into this when I'm closer to finishing the app. :)

sorry man... tried searching within this thread... but couldn't find any solution about not being able to play it in the media player..

downloaded a couple of videos i 360p and 420p but the media player just said Unable to play Media, Format not supported...

remember downloading it before and worked swell

what happened?

You have to enable the "extras devel" catalogue in your app manager, then search for it. If your not sure how, just say, i'll tell u :)

How do I delete previous configurations or settings? I think I figured out why videos weren't playing.

Running
python /opt/cutetube/cutetube.py
as a user leads to CuteTube not being able to play videos, or view the settings

Running
python /opt/cutetube/cutetube.py
as root allows me to view settings, and play videos.

This suggests to me that there may be a bad setting or something with the user instead of root.

Hi would there be any way to have an ability to amend the current search from within the results page? For example, I want to look for youtube video's for shell scripting so I pull that up. Then I realize I really want, linux shell scripting, so I go back and redo the search or get the most recent search and amend it.

Would be nice if you did not have to switch screens from the search results to amend (which is really do a new) search, that way you could get very granular without having to switch back to a previous screen.

Btw the app is great as it is it is just me being selfish, I know that :)

There used to be a 'New search' button in the search results window, but I removed it because creating lots of new windows can cause memory issues. The windows and their child objects (thumbnails etc) have to be stored in RAM.

I'm rewriting cuteTube using QML/C++ atm, so I'm discontinuing development on the existing version. The new version will have cleaner code, improved performance and a 'blingy' UI with some nice transitions. The basic layout will remain the same, though the application will run in fullscreen and has a less awkward menu system. I'm already quite a way into designing the UI, so I'm hoping to release something within the next few weeks. :)

I'm genuinely surprised and impressed at just how much work you can do in QML. :)

I'm doing most of my testing in QMLViewer on my desktop machine, but on the occasions when I've tested on the device, everything's been really smooth. :) Asychronous fetching and loading of data is very easy using QML. It feels like cheating. I haven't written any of the C++ code yet. I'm going to finish the UI first, and implement as much as possible using QML.

Look pretty slick....but have you looking into displaying the thumbnails in grid format rather than top down w/ description on the right. I dunno....i feel like the thumbnails display is limited and a lot of space is taking up just for description alone on ONE single page.

I don't like the icon/grid view. The stock media player offers it as an option, but I never use it. It doesn't provide enough space for the text fields.

Is there any chance of getting the "reconmended for you" thing in there? I know alot of us only go on youtube when we're bored n it would be good especially if u can't think of anything to search for? Plus its another good feature init!

The YouTube API doesn't provide access to that feed atm. It has been requested, so it could be included in the future.

I'm still working on the UI atm. I have quite a bit of it done. I'm working on a notification area and menu system, then I need to do the video player. Once that is done, I will probably release a test build to get some feedback while I work on the download/settings code.

Hi Marxian,

I didn't see any mention of HTTP proxy support. Should cutetube work via a proxy? Would it be possible to add support to use the proxy defined in the network connection (like MicroB et al do)?

The GPRS service I use only gives access via a proxy server. I think this is quite common.
