Re: [Announce] Sony Playstation 1 Emulators

Has anyone had this problem with certain games.

I have noticed that need for speed 1 will only work if sound is enabled but at the cost of performance, if i disable sound it only load up to the main menu and then when i try to start the game it freezes the emulator.

Any work-around?

here is the output through xterm:-

- $ psx4m-gui
/opt/maemo/usr/games/pcsx -nosound -bios scph1000.bin -bdir /home/user/MyDocs/bios/ -fullscreen -fps -cdfile /home/user/MyDocs/.documents/Games/psx roms/NFS1.img -save_name NFS1.img
Running PCSX Version 1.9 (Dec 27 2011).
Init new dynarec
Loading memory card ./.pcsx/memcards/card1.mcd
Loading memory card ./.pcsx/memcards/card2.mcd
plugin: /opt/maemo/usr/games/plugins/builtin_gpu
plugin: /opt/maemo/usr/games/plugins/spunull.so
plugin: /opt/maemo/usr/games/plugins/builtin_pad
plugin: /opt/maemo/usr/games/plugins/builtin_pad
Plugins loaded.
Loaded CD Image: /home/user/MyDocs/.documents/Games/psx roms/NFS1.img[+ccd][+sub].
Track 01 (DATA) - Start 00:02:00, Length 60:28:70
CD-ROM Label: SLES00223
CD-ROM ID: SLES00223
ari64_reset
branch in delay slot @800101a0 (80010160)
~ $

Sorted it

checked the output in xterm with sound enabled and i noticed 1 line was showing

plugin: /opt/maemo/usr/games/plugins/builtin_spu

sound disabled was showing

plugin: /opt/maemo/usr/games/plugins/spunull.so

so i gathered that may be the problem.

In advance menu i ticked the -spu irq always enabled- and that sorted the problem out.

@Bazza

Which gpu option are you using? Also do you have Threaded sound enabled? Because I had that problem way back with crash bandicoot when I unintentionally enabled Threaded sound.

Re: [Announce] Sony Playstation 1 Emulators

neon_gpu

sorted it out now see last post

Yep! Missed out the space between "
users" and "/home"

After a reset now working as expected, and have to say..

WOW! Massive speed increase! Tony Hawk 4 runs maybe even a little too fast at 850mHz, and Tekken 3 too...

Shame the GLes version doesn't run so smooth, as having the speed of the Neon GPU and the smooth 3d/2d graphics would be awesome!

After I Install the last update psx4m not working with psx4m-gui. Pcsx rearmed works. Does anyone face the same problem?

Bazza 2011-12-29 20:23

Re: [Announce] Sony Playstation 1 Emulators

Yes same here just pcsx rearmed works but with the performance we get that should be all we need.:)

psx4m works for me, just need to wait a little bit longer for it to kick in. Using the neon-gpu and it works a bit faster but the sound is still very...er...jumpy. Still, works pretty nicely.

Surely if you're using the neon-gpu you're running pcsx-rearmed?

Re: [Announce] Sony Playstation 1 Emulators

using cycle multiplier on psx4m gives better fps on most games than pcsxrearmed. ofcourse pcsxrearmed compatibility is much better.

i use quick save and quick load on psx4m gles and i dont think i can transfer them to pcsxrearmed.

Onother bug i found is quick load. I use resident evil 3, quick load works ok, but if i restart emulator and load the performance is poor, dont know why. Has anyone else this problem?

bonapart 2011-12-30 16:19

Re: [Announce] Sony Playstation 1 Emulators

hadjistyllis: psx4m(-gles) and pcsx-rearmed use same memcards (located in different places either)
so you can use in-game save(sadly psx usually use checkpoints system for save in most games), copy\replace memcard from psx4m to pcsx or pcsx to psx4m and load(continue in most games) at different core ;-)

Enable no framelimit. That is simply not true if you do. With rearmed most games run full speed without sound at 600 mhz!

Edit: btw bonapart, is there a way to have access to the memory card
to erase and copy stuff for example. My memory card is full and I have no idea what to do to solve that.

Yeah I know that. The quick load I think is not working through different cores.
BTW how to solve the problem with GUI to load psx4m?
Thank you for your help:)

Because pcsxrearmed now use GPU so cpu speed doesn't matter a lot for graphics. Cpu need for sound so overclocking will help in sound. Psx4m (especialy psx4m-gles for some supported games) plays with sound at full speed.
GTA plays perfect with psx4m-gles with perfect graphics and perfect sound with cycle multiplier 3.
Psx4m has stop updating, so pcsxrearmed in few month will be perfect and no one will use psx4m :)

Re: [Announce] Sony Playstation 1 Emulators

Hello guys, i'm new here, first of all sorry about my bad english, i hope you can understand me :)

Let me introduce myself quckly. I'm mainly a gamer, i'm playing with fighting games (Tekken series, SF4, MK9, UMvC3) at tournament level, and i'm making combo videos out of these games. i'm playing with consoles since my childhood. I had only Nokia phones, because Symbian could handle a few emulators, like VNes and Picodrive.
I switched my shitty N97 (that phone was big disappointment) for a N900 about a year ago, and it's a whole new level... Damn this is a pocket PC, definitely my favourite phone of all time! Symbian is only a joke compared to Maemo. So emulators are necessary for me, i'm a huge fan of retro games and consoles. This phone was the perfect choice for me! I'm a Ps3 owner too, so i can use my joypad with the phone. Playing retro games with a Sixaxis on my Nokia? A dream comed true.

So i really like to thank EVERYBODY who cares about this phone, porting and working on emulators, etc. PCSX REarmed is excellent, a lot of games runs almost perfectly! Thanks one more time guys, keep up the outstandig work, and i wish a happy new year for everybody!

Sure, this is the least i can do.

On topic:
I tried a lot of games, here are a few examples:

Tenchu 2 - Fully playable.

Tony Hawk 2: - music is a bit laggy, but the game runs pretty smoothly

Tekken 2: - Generally is a bit slower, but the musics and sounds are fluid!

Tekken 3: - Ingame is a bit laggy, but Tekken Force mode runs pretty well.

Star Gladiator: - Runs greatly, but there are no music.

Tombi: - It runs pretty good, the music is choppy sometimes.

Tombi 2: - Fully playable.

Crash Bandicoot 3: - Fully playable.

Final fantasy 9: - Fully playable.

Abe's Oddysee: - There are some graphic texture glitches at a few screens, but besides those it's fully playable.

Bust a Groove 1-2: Unplayable because of the lag :(

What are the settings you are using to run Final Fantasy 9? i tried every configuration but all i get is a black screen right after launch - the game doesn't start (even though the CPU is working)

No sorry it's not really playable. Random bugs ruin the game.
Like getting stuck in water levels.

cd /home/user/
mkdir .pcsx
chmod -R 777 .pcsx
chown -R user .pcsx

FF9? I't doesn't need any extra config, Maybe there's a problem with your game file, you should try another.
Crash Bandicoot 3 Warped works perfectly for me. I'm at the 4th zone, and i didn't noticed any kind of bugs yet.

hi,
i'm having a controller issue in my game
i'm trying to play silent bomber (pal-e) and after some minutes of play the keyboard doesn't work (if i press keys that i assigned to psx controller it doesn't work but exit or savestate/load works)
am i doing anything wrong?
ps: i'm using pcsx-rearmed with neon gpu, frameskip to pal, fullscreen, bios on and nothing from advanced section is enabled, sound enabled, oc to 900
hope sb can help

Re: [Announce] Sony Playstation 1 Emulators
