Hello Dave
I install phone me on my nokia but still cant get to run java apps like 2go, when i just open it will close immediately, please can you add 2go as a midlet like the operamini and ucbrowser you added. I will be very gratefull if you can do it for my sake, Thanks |
Re: [BETA RELEASE] PhoneME Advanced (Java Mobile)
DavyP, you may be not aware, but there are two programs run by Nokia, where You can get free N950/N9, by properly submitting Your PhoneME project:
http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=84589 and... http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=84591 Especially the first one sounds like "instant-win" a N950 or N9 for You (I'm not sure about the latter, as it's QT5 related). I'm sure it would help You a lot with developing version for Mer or Harmattan too. /Estel |
Re: [BETA RELEASE] PhoneME Advanced (Java Mobile)
DavyP, would you eventually upload PhoneME for fremantle to the repositories? Specially the version independent of other applications (Opera Mini, eBuddy). That way, it would be easier to everyone to upload free J2ME applications to the repositories depending on PhoneME.

I sent an email a couple of days ago to the maemo community list to nominate myself for a N9. Since I was not subscribed to the mailinglist, I got an auto-reply that my message was awaiting moderator approval, and I have not seen my mail pop up in the archives. I just added the phoneME port to the first Wiki. Given the huge interest in these devices, I don't think I will stand a chance against people who have been involved in the community for much longer. Let's see what happens. :-) Cheers, Davy |

in the top bar. I downloaded the latest version of GpsMid for my country, and after a minute or so I got a fix with the exact location of my whereabouts shown on the screen. If you do not see the top bar because the midlet is running in full screen, just press Ctrl+Up arrow to toggle between full screen or not. Davy |

Re: [BETA RELEASE] PhoneME Advanced (Java Mobile)
AFAIK there is no way for auto-builder to swallow it - at least, it's what freemangordon's said last time.
Ho ever, I'm curious, if it would be possible to "trick it" via providing it as binary in "free", including source code as another file inside tar,gz. I.E kinda "cheat" autobuilder. If You don't have any objections, I could try it. Quote:
Of course You're free to nominate Yourself to Community Awards too - your contribution is great, but considering short time of being involved etc, I'm sure You would have bigger chances in Nokia Store category. And, people that are getting devices from Nokia Store - well, most of the times (with few exceptions) don't really deserve one, while pool is as big as for CA. So, another reason for You to try there :) /Estel |

I basically ran "Run MIDlet" and selected the 2go.jar file, and then you get a splash screen with 2Go trying to connect online after which it asks for your username and password. Davy |

As you may know, I applied for a N9 in the Summer Device Program of Nokia submitting the phoneME application. The application got accepted, but I still have to publish it in Nokia store before I will receive the device. However, there are some legal and technical issues with the Terms and Conditions that I first have to check with Nokia Store before I can do that. [1] If all works out, I may have an N9 soon which will hopefully help with implementing this desired feature. Cheers, Davy [1] The legal issues have to do with terms that go against the original GPLv2 license of phoneME and I have to abide by that software license. The technical issues have to do with security an quality obligations that I cannot commit to as I have no control over how badly designed midlets will run on phoneME. |

monitor the Maemo forums Regarding your previous post, yes vibrations do not work, and I received a similar report about UC Browser also not being able to download files. These issues will be fixed whenever I have time to do so. I have added them to the TODO entry on my phoneME for Maemo page (see bottom of page) http://davy.preuveneers.be/phoneme/?q=node/34 Davy |

N9 with the Summer 2012 Device Program and my submission got accepted, but there are still a few hurdles to cross before I will get the device. OTOH, if someone can tell me how I can programmatically pop up the native virtual keyboard and intercept its event, that would help too. The problem is that I do not use native Qt input widgets, and many examples seem to put an input widget somewhere off the screen and intercept its events. However, I could not get this to work on the N9 emulator. Davy |
