Do you plan to buy one very advance 3D printer or several cheap ones?

It must be a bug in the counter. Call Kickstarter support. Call the police. Bring everyone...

Re: TOHKBD rev2

Due to large overshoot, we can change to fancier magnets and thinner connection pads. This shaves some off the thickness.

Previously, the magnets were limiting factor, now the base pcb and casing wall thickness are limiting factors. Making the casing thinner is not possible and making the pcb thinner will increase the risk of making a bad connection.

New phone+base thickness: 11.5mm!

Also, managed to get a short term loan, so we can start ordering some custom parts and machinery. I've already ordered: pick&place machine, re-flow oven and solder stencil printer. This will speed up production a lot.

Delivery in April was very much on the safe side -better to be on that side- since I originally thought I'd do a month of marketing instead of hitting in 7 hours. So we can maybe/probably shave some weeks off.

Btw, you should advertise this in some form in your Kickstarter so this all doesn't go unnoticed ;)

Re: TOHKBD rev2

That was a great update! :)

Now I think most people are eagerly waiting for some news on how many backers would be needed to start considering injection molding (as this would surely be what would result in the biggest leap forward in terms of finish) and, if so, if that would allow even thinner design (by reducing wall thickness) or if the limits are the same.

Why do you ask a question? To know the answer, of course! Well, I'm not the one who asked, but I guess the asker was hoping Dirk has some inside information. But I guess we'll just have to deal with the uncertainty :)

if Dirk has insider info he wouldnt be able to comment because he would be under an NDA

way over 1000. I would love to have a desktop injection molder here and make parts with epoxy molds! But I do not have one, nor the experience, nor the money. And even if I had, I cannot guarantee the resulting part has the required quality and strength.

With the current way we get -in my opinion- a very nice part with -in my opinion- a nice subtle grainy finish, that can be reordered in the future by me or anyone else (#opensource) in case of damage or if someone want another colour.

Just as an outsider (don't have a Jolla and hence sadly not a backer) have you asked for a quote from protomold? They advertise being able to mold even "small" batches.

I'm in no way affiliated with them, just curious.

So Dirk would reveal very, very unpredictable information (because the JP2 is far from being finished, so who knows what might change with what they know now!) and thus being known as a 'leak' which would hurt his and Jolla's reputation? Yeah, sure, that'll happen. In a parallel universe, perhaps.

Jolla TOHKBD #765 for Father's Day (in Finland) present - over 100k€ Kickstarter funding reached - 25 Days to go. Backer #764 had the honor to break the 100k goal. Will still get some TOHKBDs soon.

okay went thru the effort of scanning all pages for android & found Benny's post & thus your answer...
apologises if the question has already been asked / answered since (or before) but it would obviously be rather pointless to search for Jolla...

in how far is Jolla working with the TOHKBD in mind?
if they were, wouldn't the vkb disappear altogether as it is on the N900 (e.g.)?
or do they simply not give a damn? who cares about a QWERTY & All keyboard in India ( http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/6...vanagari.1.jpg )
or China ( http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi...raditional.png ),
right?

this being said, nice effort!
do you have any indication of the price?

because sw is not yet done. please be patient and do not expect seamless perfect sw&hw when you see a video with 'prototype' in the title.

TOHKBD Kickstarter campaign is gaining interest, German tech-news site golem.de has an article about it: golem.de (German)

Maybe this will bring us closer to the magical 1000 backers mark ;)

the black prints are a bit mat and a bit grainy. as stated on ks-page, search for solartoh or toholed, same printer, same base file.

in other news: i can *maybe* shave off 0.9mm of bottom slider piece (the detachable thing that holds the keypad), but have to do some tests and magnets will be visible.

yes. looking into all sorts of things, but do not want to "make everybody happy with a dead sparrow" as i have no experience with injection molding.

when/if i have something meaningful to say about this subject, i will, but it is much easier said then done.

heres an idea thats clearly good and terrible at the same time.

when the keyboard is connected aka to the magnetic strip a beautiful hildon like ui greets you for a full desktop mode in landscape only and when removed boom your back to one handed sailfish...for watching porn...

810 sold so far, 190 to reach the 1000 mark - or 8-9 TOHKBD's a day.

Very achievable. If we see the total rise by ~€2000 a day, we'll know we're on course.

I think that the black solartoh looks a bit tatty in the picture. On the other hand, I know that the alumide looks much better in reality.

But it's already showing the contacts, so it's not that clean to begin with. I also assume that the magnetic bond will be a bit stronger with less material between them? How would the magnets be fastned? Glue?

no no no no no

it is about the BOTTOM piece, not the piece that connects to the phone but the detachable sliding piece that holds the keypad.

also, have to do a lot of tests to make sure this will work, so NOT DEFINITIVE!

huh? no there are no holes in the wood, it is shaped like

and surrounded by the casing, so all edges are protected (like in drawing)
