no dual core either. getting trolled not that it matters its smooth as butter with 1gb of ram, I was just expecting more specs for the consumer device given the one with the hwkb isnt gonna really make it.

Handing out N950's to MeeGo devels (http://bit.ly/k8ze50):

Since we know that this device took a long time to develop, I am guessing the HW specs weren't updated. Doesn't help that the mobile processor industry is moving at really fast speeds.

Yeah. They stepped it up a bit this time. They needed to really in order to remain competitive.

Dual core phones are still fairly uncommon. I don't think the N9 having a single core is that big of a deal really.

Agreed !

Whats really interesting is the two memory options. 16gb & 64gb. That definitely speaks of targeting a wider audience. Your casual user who needs storage for pics, a few songs, etc. Then you have storage size for power users who needs much more room. Think about it, why wouldn't it have Hdmi with that much storage...makes no sense.

Re: The EPIC N9 anticipation thread

While the N9 becomes publicly available, Nokia has produced a limited edition of N950 devices for the most devoted Qt and MeeGo developers with apps in the works. We are offering 250 devices to open source community developers through the MeeGo Community Device Program (we are submitting the info right now). Nokia Developer has more for champions, partners and other professional developers.

Re: The EPIC N9 anticipation thread

I don't mind either that it doesn't have dual core, what i do matter thought is that N9 doesn't have HDMI out.

so a sexy UI "consumer" phone with a dead end OS that has no ecosystem and the infamous Nokia "support" ....

I wouldn't call announcing a phone that will be released sometime "later this year" which has specs lower that of currently available devices (e.g SG2), stepping it up.

Heck, I would call this just barely managing to keep up.

Well, compared to what Nokia's been releasing as the latest Symbian phones, they did 'step up' this time with the N9. No, it's not dual core. Personally, I don't mind a single core phone though.

N950 is also promised for subscribers of the Nokia Launchpad program. It seems to be free so far (the application, at least).

To aid the speedy development of apps for the Nokia N9 smartphone, Nokia has produced a limited number of developer phones, the Nokia N950 phone. This phone isn't available for purchase and can only be obtained through selected developer programs, such as Nokia Developer LaunchPad.

What is annoying me is that it seems there is no HDMI.

Nokia song:

one step forward and two steps back, nobody gets too far like that.

one step forward and two steps back, this kind of dance can never last.

3.5mm AV connector is a total deal breaker for me at this point. Once all the i-dorks get their new phone later this year with that feature, using a N9 will be seen as pedestrian when they're ooh'ing and ahh'ing showing vids they shot at friends houses etc...

Also in MeeGo Community Device program, which I administer: https://meego.com/community/device-p...okia-n9-devkit

Amazing grace, agreed. E7 + Anna is looking really good now, even the screen is smaller (3.9") and no FM transmitter, no flash,,, . Going to sleep now.

Uh, who cares about frivolous crap like that dude. You can just buy an iPhone and fit in if it bothers you that much.
