Totally agree. while this website is full of negativity it is the same posters that keep appearing again and again on each thread. makes it hard to get a grasp on full scale of the issues and more than a few times I have wondered whether there are a few apple fanboys, employees lurking about.

Re: Nokia N900 - UK Release Related Information
I was in London on Friday and took a detour to the flagship store. there were guys outside giving demos, friendly and somewhat knowledgable (I showed one my n800 and he was genuinely interested). He said there'd be none in the store for sale for another week, so we're talking about 4th December. They were handing out leaflets with £499 off contract, and a contract deal with vodafone - no mention of any other carrier. I was just getting into it when the three guys (I think there were three) were all called off to a meeting without the reason being stated.
I wasn't able to ascertain what release of maemo was on it, or to have a detailed poke around, I only got to play for about three minutes, sorry. |

Nope, they took delivery late Fri and people have picked up from them today, with the rest being shipped Mon - hopefully this means that MPD will get the a***s into gear..

Take tonight, I gave a lift to a friend somewhere and waited outside in my car, whilst they sorted a problem out. Usually I would be fed up after short while hanging around waiting, because I would rather be at home on the 'net, doing what I normally do, most of the time, online chess usually. Sitting in the car on the 'net felt good, I felt like my life was more free. My n900 will let me travel and take the 'net with me where ever I go, technically speaking I could have done this with my previous phone a Samsung e900, but the screen was so small in terms of the 'net as to be virtually useless and of course being closed source the Samsung is anti public. From a hardware point of view I have absolutely no complaints at all, the screen resolution has to be seen to be believed, this is the first HD mobile phone on the market and this is what makes the real difference, it almost makes me want to get higher power glasses. Mic works fine, everything works fine, some of the software is a bit ropey around the edges but the fact that it is open source means it will soon receive a polish. The worse software as far as I can see is the GPS stuff- talk about incomprehensible, get it working like Tomtom please Nokia. Going on some of the comments on this forum it seems to me the people who have had hardware problems are very much in the minority, most people here have been praising the n900 after receiving it. http://dollyknot.com |
