You want the --url option:

Code:

microb --url http://www.facebook.com/
(You can also sort of do this with /usr/bin/browser when Browser Switchboard is not installed, but the behavior with regards to a prestarted MicroB process is probably not what you want.)

Thanks man :)

Will this program pre-load parts of the chosen browser to the memory, the way microB gets preloaded, by default?

no, as microb gets preloaded as a crash recovery measure (idea being that the daemon would keep the urls in use. And reload them if the ui part of microb should crash, iirc). Other browsers have others means of dealing with that issue.

Preloading MicroB also helps reduce startup time -- it's an approach used on most other mobile platforms. Doing that requires special support from the browser, and I don't anticipate that any of the other browsers for Maemo will be doing it.

currently the Meego N900 DE browser team is trying to do the same with Fennec-qt. preloading parts to reduce the +15s startup time to something more manageable.

Re: Browser Switchboard - use any browser as the default

opera11 loads so fast its amazing, even on N800. are they supporting the OS mechanism for this?

re bsb, somehow my ~user/.config had permissions of root:root on N800 with only Trolltech.conf in there. so some qt installation thing mustve been sloppy with permissions. but browser-switchboard control panel did not give any error, but everytime you loaded panel, settings were reset back to defaults.

we should probably say something when its not possible to write the config file.

edit: is it possible to always launch the browser in full screen mode? that would be a nice option in the control panel.

Is this only when clicking on links in the terminal (e.g. does clicking links in other applications work)?

Also, if you could run
Code:

$ killall browser-switchboard; browser-switchboard
from a terminal and post the output when you click on a link in the terminal, that would be helpful in trying to figure out what's happening.

It doesn't print anything when I click "Open" in terminal.

And it doesn't seem to matter which browser is selected like casketizer said.
