Re: [Announce] wizard-mounter for fremantle
I have the same problem here! It shows a segfault if you start the program from terminal using the "wizard-mounter" command.

Re: [Announce] wizard-mounter for fremantle
Hello. I have an eTRAYz nas and I wish to connect it via cifs to my n900. But it tells me connection refused. I tried nfs as the nas supports it and nfs works. So why does cifs not work and nfs work?

Re: [Announce] wizard-mounter for fremantle
Wizard-Mounter is now mounting Samba shares on my N900 post PR 1.3
I don't know if it's working better because of PR 1.3 or because all applications were re-installed. Previously with PR 1.2 I had uninstalled & re-installed Wizard Mounter several times without getting it to work. This time, it found the old config from the PR1.3 restore, & connected with the settings that had not worked previously. Observations: 1. Will not work with server name, only with IP address. Server name makes it crash to the desktop with no error message. 2. "guest" will not work as WM's mandatory Username for mounts that do not require a username. "None" works OK. 3. Browsing the mounted drive is best done with Filebox, not File Manager. File Manager takes a VERY long time before displaying the directory list, giving the impression that the phone has locked or that the share has not been mounted. 4. I understand that listing the mounted drive in /media is a Linux convention, but it limits Wizard Mounter's useability from the general user and only to N900 geeks who have installed root access. It would likely make it a more useable tool for the general user if they were mounted in a new directory in /home/user that could be browsed with an N900 off-the-shelf. |
Re: [Announce] wizard-mounter for fremantle
At 2, I'd point out that SMB is a MS protocol and the Linux implementation follows that. As a result, on many implementations, "guest" is magic, as it doesn't log on as any random, passwordless user, but instead attempts to log on to the guest account which, in Windows, is magic and unique, like root is on Linux. If the target machine has guest off (in Windows), it gives you the boot, even if the share if free for all.
As for FM being unable to work right it's a shame, but in all fairness it was designed to work with flash storage in local mode. Use MC and you'll be fine. I find Firefox lacking for massive operations and uploads. |
Re: [Announce] wizard-mounter for fremantle
All the unicode (greek) names in the shared windows folder are coming up as question marks. I have already installed the unicode filesystem package. Any ideas?

Re: [Announce] wizard-mounter for fremantle
So are we. I know this is a troll thing to say, but, wouldn't it be easier on everything if you just used ASCII names? Or simply add an English alias to the share, the same folder can be shared under different names.
