hey smoku im glad you carried on using pcsx. if your planning on continuing to use the software plugin for video il try and see if i can get any more joy out of it. with pupniks version of pcsx for maemo 2 (n8x0) as previously put i reached around 25-30fps with a few tweaks on ff7 and gdarius. if your already workin on the plugin il leave it alone. but if not let me know and il see what i can i do with it!

TUTORIAL ON HOW TO INSTALL PCSX-m on Nokia N900


This tutorial is for people who know what they do. Uninformed Manipulation on some files on your phone can Brick it and I will not be held liable for bla bla bla bla .....


Files you need:

- .Deb Installation file of the emulator
- plugins Pack
- PSOne Bios
- A games (of course) In .Bin or .Iso format
- 5 to 10 minutes

1 - First, obtain the installation file. Deb on http://repository.maemo.org/extras-d...free/p/pcsx-m/
The latest version is the M4, but I use the m3 for this tutorial.

2 - Once installed, you must download the plugins on http://pupnik.de/pcsx.html
The archive is called pcsx_armel_plugins_001.tgz you must unzip it (With 7zip for example) and copy the contents of the plugins folder in user/.pcsx /plugins
Ps: to copy the files I use Midnight Commander (MC in the devel repository)

2a - download the bios for playstation 1 (Google is your friend)

There are three BIOS available for the PSOne
BIOS PSX (scph1000.bin)
BIOS PSX (scph1001.bin)
BIOS PSX (scph7502.bin)

Copy one of them or the three files in user/.pcsx/bios (I prefer to copy the three in case one of them doesn't work with the emulator)

3 - The third step is to assign access rights to the emulator. (Thanks to Flandry for the Tip) So open the terminal and go to root:
sudo gainroot
chown-R user / home / user / .pcsx
CLOSE THE TERMINAL

4 - To start the emulator, the icon PCSX-m in the menu does not work (apparently repaired bug in version m4) So to start the application, open the terminal and type / usr / games / pcsx

Voila, the application starts, go to Settings> CPU> and click ENABLE INTERPRETER CPU, then click CLOSE.

To start the game, just go to FILE> RUN ISO
Select your favorite ISO or BIN and Have Fun! 8-)

You do not need to download plugin for this app on n900 or bios so step 2 and 2a is not needed.

so do step:

step 1

step 3

step 4 if you dont have m4 version

This howto is bogus.

You don't need any additional downloads. Plugins are included in deb and PCSX has BIOS built in. Application launcher is fixed already so the command line is unnecesary. No ownership changes are needed either.

I have no other choice than using software GPU plugin. I don't have time to learn PSX internals and OpenGL ES.
I don't have much time to work on this port either - it's just a break from tons of JavaScript I'm making living off.

So, please go ahead and port your changes. :D
You may also send me the code - I will diff'n'apply it. ;)
