Re: Gimmicks you might have missed on the N900
Ok, an old one:
You can easily have "phone", "contacts" and "messaging" icons on every desktop by replicating their shortcuts in “/usr/share/applications/hildon/” The shortcuts are: "rtcom-call-ui.desktop" - phone "rtcom-messaging-ui.desktop" - conversations "osso-addressbook.desktop" - contacts And here's how you can easily access those files if you're not familiar with terminal. |

Sometimes I use the power button to exit an application.
Power button => end task. E.g. When I have over 9000 webpages open. Also: The quick link for locking the device: Power button => "Secure device" (?) Handy when you don't want people nosing through your stuff |

In X Terminal, by pressing the volume control you can adjust the zoom (not size) of the font.
This is remebered with the next opening of X Terminal. |
Re: Gimmicks you might have missed on the N900
It adjusts the font size. When maxed, it even says "already at maximumfont size"

Not really a part of the Firmware itself - They're from extras, or exploits.
__ Modify Your On-Screen Keyboard Layouts - Lets you change the keys on the Fn + Ctrl (Sym) menu Load Applet - Aside from the obvious, it lets you record Screencasts! (Epic feature for me, but still haven't put it to good use.) __ You can type with the keyboard not fully extended, allowing you to stay in Portrait mode (for certain apps), and type at the same time. Arrow keys don't remap, though, so remember that. |
