Re: New members say hello !

Hi peeps

Had my N900 for 3 weeks now and have found it highly addictive. I still use my 5800 though (can't wait until I can get the latest update for it with kinetic scrolling) for a number of applications includung Satnav.

I'm crossing my fingers that these missing applications will soon be available for the N900.

I'm looking forward to getting involved in your community.

Hello everyone, I'm Bec and I'm a N900-aholic.
The thing you see in that link is a Battery Eliminator Circuit used in model aircraft, but I've had therapy for that and I feel much better, thank you http://l.yimg.com/us.yimg.com/i/mesg/emoticons7/43.gif

Please don't drive or dive while you N900 or the other way around.
Goodbye everyone http://l.yimg.com/us.yimg.com/i/mesg/emoticons7/48.gif

Hi,

Got my first brand new Nokia and guess what its the N900.

I always hated Symbian and was in love with Sony Ericsson and then since past 5 years with HTC.

Now N900 seems to be a device which will help me find true love again ;)

Hey guys, im michael/catacylsm,

Got the N900 today, loving it, eats my winmo device as well as the apple devices i've played with,

Loving how simply sophisticated the device is, a real pleasure to work with, and happy that the community is really thriving, this makes maemo and its relatives so much happier haha.

Hopefully i can help out as much as i can, and i'm a linux virgin so not anymore, i aim to fully understand this thing inside out.

Also my last nokia was like 7-10 years ago or something rediculous back with a 3310, its good to know their standard hasn't dropped!.

Cheers,,
Cata

Hi Guys,

My n900 comes on Thursday, I am a developer (Java & Perl mainly) and will certainly be looking to do something with my new phone. When I get my phone I will play with it, tinker with it, set it up to my liking and tinker some more.

Then I will be here looking for inspiration or something that interests me to help develop.

See you in the Forums!

Hi everyone :)

After having used the N82 for 2 years and still being happy with the build quality of the hardware I decided it was time for an upgrade. Bought my N900 last week, and am tinkering with it ever since :D

The possibilities of this phone are amazing. Easy to use, intiutive and very responsive. I'm a bit of a C++ programmer and might look into helping developing for the Maemo 5 platform :) Would need to learn about linux before doing that though, so the phone offers an excellent opportunity!

Anyway... Thanks for providing this community, hope I can contribute! :)

Cheers!

Hello, world.

I've had my N900 for around about 36 hours now and I'm really excited by the accelerometer and touchscreen. I'm a final-year undergraduate creative computerist, which essentially means that, time willing, I'll be helping out with apps development and possibly a game.

I've also started up a blog recently, to house coding and geek-interest tidbits, but I'll post more about that as the content grows.

I am a very low tec bushpunk. Nokia n800 was the first computer advertised that made me think ~ Wow that looks handy~ difficult to find here tho. Long wait was worth it~I get wi-fi in the darnedest places with my little computer. I actually do use my n800 for everything,it's my only computer so far. This forum is handy (been readin for awhile) so I thought I'd sign up..............

Another new user here and I've had my 9 for 2 days. Only issue so far is the hunt for a working turn-by-turn satnav. Want to make this my main phone but can't yet! :)

Hello!

I'm Markus from Finland and I got my N900 just 4 days ago. I switched from a N95 to this and have never had any of the previous Nokia internet tablets but this thing grows on me so fast. I already feel like i've had it for years. I've been quite busy customizing my N900 and I like it so very much.

I have been reading these forums for 2 days nonstop and searching solutions for my problems. I can already see that this is a very lively, active and passionate community and a solution to a problem is only one question away.

This was my first post.

See you later.

Hi everybody!

Although I got my N900 a few weeks ago, I've been browsing the forums here and I thought I should register here now. Better late than never!

Absolutely loving this phone (although the latest firmware is messing up my wifi - eduroam) and I want to start programming for it soon. Been looking at the SDK (maemo virtual image), but I think I'll wait for MADDE on Windows (sorry, Visual/Windows programmer here!).

Looking forward to being part of this awesome community!

Hello

Picked up my N900 five days ago:)

I've been a full time Linux user on my home PC since 2007 but have still been using a windows smartphone up til now. Its great to be able to switch to a good linux alternative.

Now I'm 'clean' and no longer using M$ and loving the device:D

Got my N900 in early December, and finally committed to opening the box a few weeks later. It's a great device. I'm not a techie, but I've been reading posts on this site and learning a lot. I am very impressed by the community and its overall welcoming attitude toward newcomers. Randy, in D.C.

Hi there,

I have been old timer on the forums but haven't had chance to post anything yet.

I have owned all the maemo devices starting from 770, 800, 810 & now N900. Just got my N900 today, so after all its a good day to start posting on the forums and be more active :-).

Cheers,

hello.

I mostly ignore the 'general' forum, so not my first post. N900 owner, new to maemo, but not to linux. opensuse, archlinux and for a while now stayed with gentoo.

Re: New members say hello !

I've had my N900 now for a week and I love it.

I'm a hard core geek with lots of gtk experience (I have even written part of the BiDi support used in gtk).

Tonight I have tried to connect the N900 to my FrogPad (failed) and to my Lego Mindstorms NXT set through python (worked). The NXT will provide wheels for the N900 so that it can roam around the house on its own.

I'm planning to play around with the acceleration sensor and see how easy it is to use it as in put device by sensing gestures and taps.

Cheers,
Dov

Hi to all,

Got my N900 yesterday and it's starting to win me over big time.

I hesitated a bit before getting the device, propably 'cause my last (Smartphone/PDA) device was HTC TyTN II. And I haven't had the smoothest ride with it.

But for my glad suprise the difference is like between sun and moon.
Or MS and LInux :)
Just itchin' to get my hands on all the killer apps and best ideas that only open development enviroment can offer.

Thanks already!
