Unfortunately I'm trying to keep things fairly simple so the only thing I can think of is an updated icon (kind of weird the Dialcentral icon being for POTS).

If you want to help me with several of my projects, I could also use an icon for The One Ring, some buttons for ejpi, and a new icon for Quicknote ;)

There's one web page that I always go back to for some fresh icons.

Maybe there's something there that catches your interest, epage. :)

Can you send me the original Dialcentral icon? what about the buttons, I have a suttle look in mind that may be a bit nicer than the original, up to you though.

Re: Dialcentral 1.0

*Bug Report kinda*
I took your advice and exported my contacts list from GV to a google.csv file. It speeds up the process immensely, however there seems to be an issue with the way the csv is being translated. Can you make it so that it displays similarly to how it does when you get the list from the website? If you want a screen shot of what I'm seeing let me know I'm not sure how else to explain it.

**Enhancement Request**
If the contacts are being loaded from a local file, allow the contacts to be displayed while you are logging in to google voice.

**CSV File location change request**
Ok it was not overly difficult for me to move the CSV file to where it needed to go, but someone not versed at all in Linux will not be able to use this feature without a lot of heart ache. Plus if I update my list I will want an easy means of doing it on the N810. Can you make the directory on the internal memory of the device instead of ~.dialcentral/contacts to /media/mmc1/contacts or similar?

Let me know what you like or dislike so I can file it accordingly. Thanks for looking

What I am trying to get is a quick way of dialing the numbers I call most in the quickest way...

Even through the GV web interface I have to scroll through a list of contacts to get to the one I want.

Most of the time opening DC on the N8x0, going to contacts, selecting the number etc.... is good enough.

What I's like to see is a 1 (maybe 2) click to call.:)

Don't know if this helps, but if you rename the contacts you want to call often to look like !name, they will filter to the top of the list in DialCentral and be easy to find.

I'm not too concerned about Dialcentral using stock icons on buttons, I was more interested in the ones for my calculator where I had to do a lot of button design.

I would actually consider this an enhancement request since I'm using the information you are giving me (this point is debatable, I know, but I didn't originally write CSV handling for GV but for another source of my contacts). I could possibly put in some hacks specially for GV exports. I'd recommend either opening it up in a spreadsheet program and modifying the column titles, or filing me an enhancement request (or both).

This would probably require massive reworking of Dialcentral (partially due to the heritage of supporting both GV and GC, partially due to my safety checking to make sure we don't attempt something while note logged in). For the amount of work I'm unsure how much benefit would be gained. You are free to file it (like anything) but you'll have to sell me on it a little more.

I do admit it isn't the best for non-advanced users. (one of those itches needing scratches for a very particular use case of my own) Rather than hard coding to the memory card, I think I'd rather have an "import" option. Either way, I'd encourage you to file one on this.

Due to other demands I've abandoned the project. Others have expressed interest in taking it up but haven't made much progress.

I'd remove it from my signature if I remembered how to edit my signature

Hey epage!

Those are some really nice looking icons that you found.

Thought I'd share a few that I found as well since I'm bored right now.

Not sure if that applies to your builds of Dial Central but this first one says only for non commercial use.

Preferably 26x26, 48x48, and 64x64 actually since different parts of the Maemo end up using different sizes.

Re: Dialcentral 1.0

I keep using this app on a daily basis and now I couldn't imagine my N810 without it :)
I'm using 1.0.8-1 so some of my experiences may be from using a deveopment version.
The text/voice/both icon has worked great without any issues. Love it.

As the DC is now I would be happy with it going forward, the only things to maybe 'clean up' would be, to me;

* When you type long messages the screen doesnt wrap/follow along so you loose sight of what you are typing,

* The info inside the sms box showing the number you are texting to - and how many characters will disappear if you type a long message on the first row. Maybe have that info shown outside of the box?

* Ability to click on GV voice mail links and hear the message (enhnancement request filed)

* Have the messages auto-refresh when you have an sms.

I know some of them are 'repeat'-requests but on the good side they are, to me, pretty much all I can see missing'.

Thanks a 100th time for giving us this application.

Re: Dialcentral 1.0

I'm pretty sure Epage is aware of all the SMS troubles.

Seems like it's not his fault though even I'd feel much better if he could prove it. *lol*

The new request of auto-refreshing an incoming SMS is a great idea though, you should submit it to his page.

Nuts. I wanted that 700th post to be mine. :)

Yes, based off of some of Addison's comments I've done some playing with this. The best I figure is its a GTK issue but somebody please file me a bug so we can at least track this issue!

I'm thinking this is again dealing with the text wrap issues as above? If so, then the fix is with that and not having the info shown outside of the box.

I assume you mean in conjunction with the notification support? I think efforts would best be put to TheOneRing where you would get a real chat interface.

The only thing I don't quite understand about the text wrapping weirdness is that Pidgin executes this perfectly and uses the same basic coding as Dial Central, correct?

If Pidgin is open source, could you possibly be able to look at that part of code, Epage?

Mauku is another program with a type-in box - but where the screen 'follows along' if you type a long row.

Just to double check, you are saying Mauku has the same bug as Dialcentral?

Sorry no.

When typing a row that is longer than the displayed type-in-box:
- Mauku 'follows along' showing the text as you type, scrolling to the right,
- DC doesn't 'follow along' and you end up typing without seeing what you type (unless you manually scroll to the right).

That's beside the point. :p

I had this problem on an earlier version (reported somewhere in this thread) and epage corrected it very soon afterward. Maybe this is a regression issue?

Re: Dialcentral 1.0

I'll file one request only if it's possible though.

About 25% of the time I need to move the volume tab just a titch to hear anything in the internet call application.

Can you program it somehow so that Dial Central would do this automatically?

Like save the value of the volume, change volume to zero, restore saved volume.

Maybe that would work if you're able to do so.

If not, I'll think of something else to bother you with. :)

Having the same problem sometimes. I found if I unplug then reinsert my headset quickly when making a call will fix the incoming audio.

Quick question.

How can I change my avatar picture (creepy, neutered shadow figure) in the internet call application?

http://img253.imageshack.us/img253/3...9110100152.png

When I try to edit it, the application states that avatars aren't supported with my account.

Any of you turd burglars know a way around this?

Thanks!

Not really asking that this would be a DC feature...but...how hard/possible would it be to create an applet tied to DC that would sit on the main-screen and show any incoming SMS - AND have an entry field where you could;
- type an SMS, and then
- select the contact from a drop-down
