It's a parametric Combo QBW so if you don't need all subwidgets just don't import them and blank the relevant QBW Instance placeholders as postprocessing in main shell script in flipclock dash:

Warning!!! Dash widget (currently the one with N900 pic inside) must exist because it drives all other subwidgets. (Just hide or remove all images from it and size it as you like or make it invisible)

yes he is the man, flip clock widget !!!!! with the om weather i can make look like the fantastic htc sense flip clock (thats the only thing i like about htc sense) .

  1. Uncompress attached qbw_flipclock_images.zip containing images to /home/user/.queen_beecon_dir directory

  2. Uncompress attached qbw_flipclock_beecons.zip containing beecons to /home/user/MyDocs directory (they will be directly accessible from the "import file to buffer" in Advanced Dialog Box)
  3. Beecons are ordered in the order they must be imported

  4. VERY CAREFUL NOW

  5. If you only need some widgets, like for example only the hours/minutes digits, simply omit relevant beecon import steps; proceed for imported beecons as per steps 12 & 13 and for omitted beecons as per step 12 & 14

  6. Create 1 new beecon and import 1_qbw_flipclock_year.qbw.txt (y= parameter in script, take note of Instance Id) - Save
  7. Create 1 new beecon and import 2_qbw_flipclock_month.qbw.txt (m= parameter in script, take note of Instance Id) - Save
  8. Create 2 new beecons and import 3_qbw_flipclock_month_digit.qbw.txt in each (d1= & d2= parameters in script, take note of both Instance Ids) - Save
  9. Create 1 new beecon and import 4_qbw_flipclock_weekday.qbw.txt (w= parameter in script, take note of Instance Id) - Save
  10. Create 4 new beecons and import 5_qbw_flipclock_day_digit.qbw.txt in each (h1= , h2= , h3= & h4= parameters in script, take note of all Instance Ids) - Save
  11. Create 1 last new beecon and import 6_qbw_flipclock_dash.qbw.txt (w= parameter in script, no need for this of Instance Id)

  12. "Edit Cmd" in dash beecon and you'll find this:

  13. Be very very careful and replace parameters value with corresponding Instance Ids of each Beecon you created in previous steps
  14. If you omitted some of the widgets, make sure to blank the relevant script parameter according to this example:

anyhow.... i was just wondering, is there any way.... for example.... (an idea): to make widget... that would auto hide..... but with button pressed, it will roll out, AND then... with click-detection, to have all shortcuts of apps, or some commands (for example...) that we want to have, in couple of rows, columns... and to set to roll back right after it had been pressed... (YES, SOMETHING LIKE IN ANDROID... FIND THAT QUITE USEFUL, but no need for some animation... just to show/hide...))
AND (tricky one) to have them rotate depending of portrait or landscape orientation....

This is really nice application. But there seems to be one flaw (or I am not doing this right). I have lots of different snippets on my desktop. Most of them are outputs from shell commands. Sadly it seems that the command output is not escaped properly or something like that. For example this simple command:

echo "this is a <test> output"

will just output a some kind of warning: Possible Pango Markup Language inconsistent/unterminated tag. Is there a way around this feature/bug?

YES YOU CAN ... IN SIMPLE WORDS

More technically ... only problem here's the portrait/landscape detection.
1st option Enabling real-time P/L detection in QBW=>hildon-home will put much "stress" to the accelerometer and a sensible battery drainage.

2nd choice is DBUS monitor rule in QBW but it works only if other applications register to the system for P/L orientation detection. In this case P/L signals reach DBUS and QBW can get triggered by them and behave accordingly.

3rd option is try to detect P/L only when needed through some ways which I'm not aware of as of now and after some googling about it ... please Community HELP needed here!!!

Here's a walkthrough (approx!!!) for only the braves ... I'm sorry I can't find a slot for implementing it in short time span.

Create A beecon
updates @click
upsize B via dbus if necessary
switch on B via dbus methods on paramater widgetVisible and update_content post-action
DBUS reset_rearm_timer (several seconds) in B for auto-hide
DBUS force B to update_content

Create B beecon
create landscape png image with applications grid (BL)
setup Exit Status = 0 image to BL
setup Exit Status = 1 image to BP
updates @click
create portrait png image with applications grid (BP)
calculate coordinates/sizes for hotspot grid both for BL and BP

if timer execution then downsize B via dbus if necessary, switch-off and hide, disarm timer
if DBUS execution then fetch device orientation:
read 1st value from /sys/class/i2c-adapter/i2c-3/3-001d/coord
if 1st value between -700 and -1000 then orientation is P
if 1st value between 0 and -700 then orientation is L
store position in B via echo (P or L) or rememberme placeholder;
exit 0 to display BL or 1 to display BP according to sensor
if CLICK on B then retreive hotspot according to orientation and run relevant application

the flip clock is working great, i know it still needs some work to be a fully working flip clock widget, just one thing can we please have white icons (white instead of black and black instead of white ) .
mine is looking like htc sense today widget :D .

hmmmm..... i would wish to avoid making simple images to put in background for apps and suf.... however, if that is nessesery, it will be like that...

i was thinking if it is posible to place command to start app from BP/L widget, in form of that it take even a ICON from the app... ???? O_o
i know i ask to much, but i dont know limitations of QBW... maybe you do :D

another thing: i am not programmer... and stuff that you put there for me... well i understand what is it... but have no clue how to implement it...
i know that only a misplaced letter or sign is enough for beacon to not work...
therefore, i can just give you a ideas and questions, and opinions, rather than help you in putting some widgets together...

My tips are there for the community ... to provide Proof of Concepts and guidelines or just brainstorming for this scenario and others.
If someone has got free slots in his/her spare time then feel free to help and develop beecons... everyone's suggestions and effort are welcome.

i mighe be pushing it a bit, but that flip clock is amazing, and you came up with it just a couple of hours after my request, so here is my request :

or a nice status widget like the one in the pic above, A QUEEN BEECON COTROL WIDGET, thats looks exatly the same as the one in the pic, with the ability to turn on/of bluetooth, fm transwitter, wifi, login/out from your accounts.......
