me too somesomesome

it started to work after i refresh it 3G connection. maybe couple of reboots still did the magic :)

still the widget is kind tricky or moving in the widget. because the arrows dont seem to work unless you first touch one of the fb updates

Re: [Announce] FaceBrick: Facebook client for Maemo with a rich UI

Installed and working, however when i try to comment on peoples status or "like" posts i get "Error 200: that user has not authorized this application to do that". What is the point of seeing the news feed if we can't comment from within the app? Is this a common thing, or is there something i need to do to get it to work correctly?

EDIT:

Ok, appartently when it installed it skipped one of it's own steps. I decided to see if i could change my own status and got the error the app wasn't authorized and it brought up a dialog for me to authorize the app to post to my wall. After authorizing i was able to post my status, and i am now also able to comment and like other people's posts.

If you're having problems with "Unauthorized source IP", could you open the terminal and try this?

sudo gainroot
apt-get remove --purge facebrick
apt-get remove --purge libqfacebook

apt-get update

And then either reinstall it through the terminal or the App manager.

Re: [Announce] FaceBrick: Facebook client for Maemo with a rich UI

Hello everybody,

thanks for the update, I have been waiting for the widget since I first heard of you developping it. The problem is, facebrick wanted me to renew the connection to facebook and I am not able to click the "Confirm" button.. Tried it ten times now, but it just does not work. Is this just me having too big fingers or is anybody else having the same problem?

cheers, boudjere

[Edit]: Forgot to mention that the cancel button works alright ;).
[Edit2]: Got it to work, now I am facing the same problems as everybody else ("unauthorized ip..")

They remove the package along with all configuration files associated with it.

Re: [Announce] FaceBrick: Facebook client for Maemo with a rich UI

Facebrick widget tries to connect to the internet automatically, right?

Last night i have to reboot my phone couple of times because facebrick connect to the facebook page popped-up, and i couldnt remove it. Finally i have to try onnect myself before the page pops-up.

So my question is. Is it possible to remove autoconnect and maybe manually connect trough refresh button of the widget.

Loving the widget, but where's the source of the newest facebrick? It's not on maemo.org (why is it in non-free?) nor on github :(

Re: [Announce] FaceBrick: Facebook client for Maemo with a rich UI

i have the same problem
but worse
i am locked out of my mobile because when i boot there is a "connect to facebook" that covers 75% of my screen from 25% down from the top to the bottom. The window is empty. Just the title "connect to facebook"
i can see the other icons and things dimmed and blurred behind on the top 25% of the screen but i cannot access anything.
nothing happens when i click there. I cannot get the "connect to facebook" to go away.

tried to reboot several times.

Re: [Announce] FaceBrick: Facebook client for Maemo with a rich UI

Big warning to uninstall this until the widget problem is fixed.
I managed to get into my mobile again by trying a large number of times to reboot and do the clicks to connect to internet before the widget takes over the screen and all is locked down.
It was very tricky. U need to manage all the clicks to connect to the internet while the phone is still loading the desktop.
Once i was connected the facebook widget would not start up empty anymore. it would have the web-page on it to connect to facebook.

i do, but that would not have helped since i dont connect automatically to the internet when i boot my mobile.
So ssh would not have been accessible from the outside.
But as i wrote above i managed. I was rather nervous for a while hehe
it would been the first time i bricked my mobile by installing something on it :-)

but all ok now. i got my mobile back online now :)
as a precaution i uninstalled this in waiting for a fix.

kindly

If you could add an option to make size configurable it would be awesome!
I like it better when it's similar to the Mauku widget

Strange, but isn't this the source here?

http://repository.maemo.org/extras-d...e/f/facebrick/

I notice they left the object files in there also. Maybe they just need some packaging help.

They did, and I already fixed it, but I prefer to stay silent about these things :)
libqfacebook was missing a -dev package, so the package couldn't be built easily on scratchbox or the builder.

Here's the source: http://github.com/brik/facebrick/tree/desktop_widget

Re: [Announce] FaceBrick: Facebook client for Maemo with a rich UI

im having weird issue on facebrick myself...
facebrick is crashing on me...

when i reboot facebrick login notification pops up (as usual) i usually tap the above portion and it goes well. but know if i tap the above portion widget crashes... even if i login on that popup sign in notification facebrick still crashes on me...

long story short i cant make facebrick run on my device... the app itself or the widget.

uninstall/reinstall doest help either.

Yes!
I was thinking that this purging thing could solve it.
No clue how to do it myself.
Thanks for the guide:)

Same thing happened to me!! Couldn't do the "connect to Internet" in time, until I had WIFI access @ a friends house. FOR me, rebooting with the USB connected to the computer allowed me some extra time to do the "connect to Internet" on the phone.

I am uninstalling this app. do to 1) No cancel button if the internet is not working 2) doesn't allow me to get out of th program if the internet didn't work for it's connection

telecomgeek79

(not needing facebook as much as my phone capabilities (and all the other things, email, etc.))

Anybody have another solution? I can't manage to get "connect to Internet" to show up before the silly login window blocks all access to my phone.

I don't really want to reflash my device...

I guess there is a race between the login window and the connect to internet window on which can show first. I rebooted A LOT and eventually was able to select an internet connection before the widget attempted to login.

Weird that the standard "click outside the window" method didn't cancel the dialog.

Re: [Announce] FaceBrick: Facebook client for Maemo with a rich UI

I thought this was just me...
I saw the update to Facebrick some days ago and updated it. Couldn't see any noticable difference in gui, but saw that I could view all posts now (I have problems with many posts previously just showing up empty, not being able to see the text....).

I did not however notice there was a desktop widget to choose now. Not until yesterday, and this is how I found out :)

I accidently dropped my N900 so the backdoor flew of and battery went out. I put it back and started up phone and facebrick wanted to connect to internet, which froze the phone from doing anything. And I didn't know why facebrick suddenly started. It all ended up with me reflashing phone and then reinstalling everything, including facebrick. Thats when the widget popped up and I noticed it (got very happy) for first time :). Then I also understood why facebrick wanted to connect to internet without me opening the app, but still no idea why the widget got activated from me dropping my phone, when it was not active before on my desktop :D

Anyway, as it now works perfect, I think the "purging" should/could work, without reflashing the phone. Just get rid of all old 0.5 settings. I guess facebrick stores settings somewhere in your /home/user folder, so try removing those too. (Unless purge does that too? Which I doubt, but dunno what purge does).

Re: [Announce] FaceBrick: Facebook client for Maemo with a rich UI

Actually now that I think of it, I never removed any settings in my home. Those are kept even through a reflash (DOH!!!) so the only thing I did then to facebrick was to get a fresh install of it ;)

It's in extras-devel where applications CAN be broken. Facebrick is not broken, it's only the desktop widget which asks for internet connection. You can still use the facebrick application which does not brick your phone if you turn off the desktop widget. These are two seperate parts which may be separated in the future. Don't blame anyone here if you're bricking your phone by installing apps from extras-devel.
