My cutetube just suddenly stopped working. When i press play video, it just shows me black screen ? What happened ? That happens if video quality is mobile, if i change it to the bigger one, video is very laggy ?

While in quality set to "mobile", my CuteTube has never worked. I just set it to the 480x270 and it works fine for me. If I'm in a slow connection, so video gets laggy, I prefer to download the video and watch it in Media Player.

I do not know (sorry I have not read the changelog lately) if CuTube if paused, can fill up a buffer.

Anyway, just a great app !

Cutetube and it's rapid, focused development is pretty much a perfect example of what makes the N900 a unique piece of kit in this smartphone market. Huge congratulations to it's author and conributers.

Was considering how the application could be integrated a little tighter into the system. A microb plugin (failing that a greasemonkey script?) to force a Youtube url to launch the application directly, for example.

Another option (possibly easier) would be for cutetube to parse the microb (and fennec?) history (sqllite db I expect?) and offer up any youtube urls ; ie. Web History -> list of urls with date and time ; user clicks and that url loads in cutetube.

Downloaded videos should be in your Media Gallery. Opening them there should open them with the default player.

Marxian - I remember you mentioned releasing an update with the ability to view videos by category. Any updates/plan on when you will be able to implement this.

I put it on the media gallery, then try to open from the media player and say "invalid format" (not exactly like that but that's basically the error).

If i looked in the folder then try to open, say exactly the same.

I put it first on a folder in my sd card and say the same error.

I guess i doesn`t matter the quality of the video i put (i have it on 480p) or that`s the problem?

You can choose a category for the most recent/most viewed feeds in the settings. The current Python/Qt version of cuteTube is deprecated, as I'm working on a QML version. This will be released alongside the existing version until it is feature complete and ready to replace the existing package.

One of the things I would like to implement is the ability to customise the home screen, so users can choose two feeds that they can then access directly from the home screen.

Riding my battery out almost daily watching videos through cuteTube, so I can't wait to see the mentioned QML version.

But please make sure that cuteTube doesn't attempt to play videos in portrait mode if it can't fully support it. Now my video will come to a terribly stuttering total halt when I close my keyboard and tip the device the slightest.

The mentioned upcoming feature of seeing subscriptions from the homescreen directly is my only featur request for cuteTube that hasn't happened yet. Can't wait!

i'm getting invalid media too when i try to watch downloaded youtube videos from cutetube. any way to work around that?

Hi, you have to put the video download quality at 480x270 (it worked for me with default media player, it does`t matter wich is your download folder is located, internal memory or sd card).

Or at higher quality (at least 480p, didn`t try 720p) with smplayer but have to put the download folder at your internal memory (at least i can`t find a way to watch it on a sd card).

To me all videos are full screen after I hit play. tapping screen once gives you playback controls and tapping again hides them.

Hmm Google seems to have changed YouTube lately. They now mandate Google Account e-mail addresses.

Edit: What this means is if you were like me and didn't have a Google account assigned to your Youtube account. You need to go to Youtube.com and assign one. And then your new password is the one you login to Google stuff with. Not your old Youtube password.

Open terminal and type following commands in the following order. You'll need "rootsh" package installed for the first command (sudo gainroot) to work. If you don't have this pkg, install it first using the Application Manager. Try installing cutetube once you've run all the 3 commands below.

sudo gainroot

apt-get update

apt-get install python2.5-qt4

I didn't like the icons that came with this app so modified the Youtube icon from iphone to these icons below, look very nice on n900. Just want to share them with everyone here. I hope the app owner don't mind...:) Awesome N900 App! Thanks!

sometimes, after playing videos for awhile... it jams and reboots... is this the programme's issue or my phone's performance issue?

I haven't experienced any freezing/rebooting, but there are some memory management issues with the current version in some conditions. The QML version that I'm working on will not have any of those problems.

I'm hoping to release something within the next week or two, depending on how long it takes me to implement the account features. I might release a version without any account management at first, so I can get some feedback on video browsing and playback while I implement the other features.

It shows the new search dialog and switching between list view and coverflow view when browsing videos. I will be adding some transitions for switching between windows before the first release. :)

The video was recorded using the QMLViewer recording feature.

I rarely (I'd say never) install apps from extras-devel, but this new version of CuteTube I will for sure, to contribute in the testing.

I hope you finish CuteTube soon, so you can start creating another app :D

The coverflow is nice. Now i wish you can create another app mainly just for viewing PICTURES using the coverflow feature. Nobody EVER created an app for that since the day i bought N900...and i want it.

With 5mp pix it might be bit problematic. Also IMO normal thumbnail view is much faster when earching for pictures and when showing pics it´s better to show them in full screen. I would like to see better image viewer on n900 of course but I try to not get too excited about neat looking things which end up after all being just well neat.
