Re: [Announce] Sony Playstation 1 Emulators

In the future this emulator will support 2nd controller and Dual Shock 3 like Mupen64? It will be wonderful :)

Also I hope in the next releases quick load get fix as after I load the framerate is very low, and I have to use game save.

Re: [Announce] Sony Playstation 1 Emulators

Plz does anybody know how many save slots each memory card slot has?

I have been trying to save some new download psx games on the memory card but wit no success.

And is it possible to transfer saved games from memory card slot 1 to memory card slot 2?

THX

Re: [Announce] Sony Playstation 1 Emulators

zzzchainzzz you free to move\copy memcards by itself
128 KB - size of each memcard, different games use different space amount to save, so can't answer exactly about slots(it will vary) ;-)

You should download broken sword 2, there you can see how many space you still have in your memory card. You can either delete saved games to free up some space, or if you want to format the memory card it's possible too. :)

Thx for the idea. Disneys tarzan already did solved it for me. i was able to see the remaining slots left on the memory card.

**Observation: The volume(sound) sometimes reduces by itself especially when game play gets a bit laggy. Has anyone experienced or is experiencing that?

Re: [Announce] Sony Playstation 1 Emulators

Many thanks, it is working great! :)

Just a note on Final Fantasy VIII:
-It works with pcsx core but it is not playable because it freeze when entering battle and cannot see memcards (it would be great to make it work since performance seems better than psx4m)
-It works with psx4m core (CPU@750, cycle multiplier disabled, frameskip 3, sound disabled) and it is playable (memcards works and does not freeze in battles).

The problem I had is that the gui from extras-devel launches psx4m with a argument "-save_name" that gives error (something like "Failed to load ...").
I had to modify the source code to remove that argument to make the gui work with psx4m.
Is it a known bug/problem?

EDIT: Sorry, FF8 it is not playable also in psx4m because in the worldmap you don't see where are you going...the screen is not updated (to update it you need to enter the menu)...sad. :(

EDIT AGAIN: It's working great with pcsx ReArmed now!!!! :)
I enabled BIOS and all the problem are gone: the memcards and saves works and it does not freeze in battle.
Also the worldmap runs smooth. Great!!! :)

Re: [Announce] Sony Playstation 1 Emulators

sakya uploaded version 0.4.0.14 to the autobuilder now.

The changelog is:
* Updated to r14
* Added --help
* Added gpu PCSX4All

he tested it for some days with some games and it seems to work fine.

p.s. i'll probably drop future development

I honestly don't know what to say except thank you for all the hard work so far and for the countless hours of fun. :) I hope you reconsider, but I know real life is a priority and these pet projects can be time consuming.

Re: [Announce] Sony Playstation 1 Emulators

I also uploaded an update for psx4m-gui.

Changelog:
* Added icons for game (put a file named as the iso file + ".png" in the same directory)
* Removed psx4m save_name argument
* Added PCSX4all gpu option for pcsx-rearmed

Screenshot:
http://www.freeimagehosting.net/newuploads/kbz91.png

Icons should be 144x80 (it's the same size of the icons used on the psp for psx converted games).
You can find icons easily using google and searching for exact size.

Where did you put the rom files?
What extension (iso, bin, img)?
Did you restart the gui after configuring it?

i made a folder for the rom files..called it PSX.

i have .bin .img

i also restarted the psx4m, still no games showing up.

( i reflashed my phone of recent. Obviously the old permissions setting is gone with the precious version of d PSX. )

Can you please copy/paste the output of the command:
Code:

ls -lh /home/user/yourROMdir
Also try to upgrade psx4m-gui to version 0.4-6.14.1 (it should be available in half an hour in the repo), launch it from terminal and copy/paste here its output.

i have upgraded.
after typing psx4m-gui in xterm:

psx4m-gui
Reading roms from "/home/user/MyDocs/"

i also noticed that after selecting the roms directory, the files show up but i cannot select any game. and if i continue trying to make it start , the phone switches off.

zzzchainzzz 2012-03-28 21:27

Re: [Announce] Sony Playstation 1 Emulators

update..

its working now sakya, But the roms DOES NOT show up on the psx4m-gui. i have to select the rom directory everytime i launch the psx.

and the icons i put arent showing up too.

Note: i put a rom file in the MyDocs directory and its showing up on the psx4m-gui whenever i launch the app. So obviously the config for rom directory and bios directory isnt working as its supposed to.

Thats great. some questions for u Acidspunk

Does your rom files show in the gui when u start the emulator.if so?

Did u make a dedicated folder for your Psx roms or did u put them directly in your MyDocs folder?

lastly, Were u successful at making the pictures for the rom files show along side with their respective rom files?

Yes and yes, I did make a folder with the isos on MyDocs. Haven't tried the picture thing though. Are you sure you went to gui config and set everything up right? You need to restart the app after setting up directories. If that doesn't work try reinstalling the whole thing? It worked fine for me from the start without setting any permissions or anything.

Such behavior on the other hand also bumps the thread, increasing its (and your applications) visibility. :)

Yes, its true but it also fustrates the instructor/developer having to repeat himself over & over again.

@ acidspunk.. i have restarted it times without number. i even config it then rebooted the phone (lol). its not my first time using the emulator. i didnt have problems with the older versions i used. Thx anyway...

i will reinstall the app again although i have done it twice already.

It seems that the application fails to save the config file. I added an error message if the config save fails.

Check permission with:
Code:

ls -lh /home/user/.config/Team16/psx4m/

This is because icons were read from a fille named exactly like the iso (extension included) + '.png'.
Code:

Blade.bin
Blade.bin.png

The new version should work also with your icon files (iso name without extension + .'png')

Re: [Announce] Sony Playstation 1 Emulators

Uploaded pcsxrearmed version 0.4.0.14.1

Changelog:
* Added option to set psx region (NTSC/PAL/Auto)
* Use PulseAudio (better audio)

The sound seems really better: with frameskip disabled Final Fantasy VIII seems to run smooth and with almost perfect sound with cpu@750 (also in FMV).
I didn't test this with many roms so please give some feedback on sound (try with frameskip disabled as auto seems to make the sound jump)

Acidspunk 2012-03-30 10:37

Re: [Announce] Sony Playstation 1 Emulators

wow. thanks sakya!

Edit: Tried a few games and the sound is flawless. This is amazing! I can finally play the lunar games. :D

Check permission on config file.
Open a terminal and:
Code:

ls -l /home/user/.config/Team16/
Try to remove the directory /home/user/.config/Team16/
Open a terminal and:
Code:

sudo gainroot
rm -rf /home/user/.config/Team16
exit

Relaunch the gui, it should recreate the directory with correct permission.
