Re: [ANNOUNCE] CSSU-thumb thread - stable Thumb2 on N900

It seems that latest update broke something in modest?!?
I cannot access MfE account, but Gmail account OK.

According to control panel mail synchronization went OK, but MfE mailbox is not showing same info. Total MfE refresh didn't help.

EDIT:
1) I installed modest and tinymail files from community-devel -folder manually and now MfE is again working.
2) Installed same files from thumb -folder and MfE not working.
3) Reinstalled devel files and OK.

Something is broken with thumb mail files.

The update went smootly here, too. Thanks!
IMAP in modest works for me.

what do you mean re-importing - where can you see this option?
Is this supposed to re-map the .install type files to HAM?

No, that MIME-type handling is managed by some hildon system.

Reimport in FAM is possible by taping 'Manage repositories', then tap the upper title bar and tap the lonely menu entry, called 'Re-import HAM repo settings'.

i have an issue with this upgrade too - the device won't boot after its installation.
During the installation, i get a prompt whether to replace the "/etc/default/mount-opts" file. i tried both replace/keep same, and in both cases device won't boot anymore.

you mean that after upgrading system-services your device won't boot? do you have something pre-mounted by kernel-power early mount scripts?

Sorry for the inconvenience :)

would you try to install only modest or tinymail from -devel repo (so the other package remains thumb) to check which is the broken package

EDIT:
But first use the updtated script, it could be something is broken because of those older packages

I'll do this right now. I updated with new script and now I'm replacing file by file (devel -> thumb).

EDIT:
Problem is in modest_3.90.7-11.2+thumb1.
Tinymail thumb is OK.

The versions are hardcoded in the script, because apt-get fetches packages with a fixed version for the thumb2 compiled packages. Did you notice

This is the edited post, that contains the changes. You later upgrade your phone
Code:

sudo gainroot
apt-get update
apt-get upgrade

to fetch modest and system-services.

Yes - i verified it twice - this specific package causes this on my device.

the "how do i check that" was referring to:

"do you have something pre-mounted by kernel-power early mount scripts?"

So, for those who did not upgrade yet (in the couple of days I mean), the upgrade process is still using the script instead of HAM?

Not good, it comes from CSSU-testing and has nothing to do with -thumb :(

Will try to find Pali for help, as he is the one to upload the package in question, so he knows what exactly gets modified.

Fixed for you :)

Yes, if you're upgrading from an earlier version, you should use the script.

For those installing it for the first time, the instructions in the first post apply.

@impeham - would you enable framebuffer console driver so we can get info where boot process gets stuck? Search the forum on how to do that.

Is this what you meant?

@marmistrz - I have NFC what state is your device in, but I think you should be experienced enough to help yourself ;)

@llucax - this is just a warning, you may safely ignore it. Otherwise I don't know which is the key that michaaa62 has posted (michaaa62, no offence, I just don;t know :) ), but thumb repo is signed with merlin1991's key. If you trust merlin1991, then add his key :P

@impeham - I mean framebuffer console driver which enables you to see the kernel messages while booting. Also if you have syslog, I think it could be of use, though if kernel is unable to mount rootfs for some reason, syslog cannot help. In short - I need anything in addition to "don't boot" :)
