This reads more like a deeper cause that might be responsible for crashing WhatsUp and having the other issues arise simultaneously. I think you're declaring one symptom to be the cause because you can't see behind the curtain.

I think we need logs to determine if it's WhatsUp or not. However I'm not qualified to read them.

Using Voice Activation of my landline homezone number over WLAN does give me the call and I get the code but WhatsUp is stuck on the registering idle screen. How do I enter the code?

I know we talked about it earlier. But want to mentioned it again because of the following observation.

Case: Access photos or videos to send

It takes a lot of time until the pictures are showed and gettin' selectable

I have three devices: jolla phone, nexus5 and nexus4

nexus5: haven't that problem
nexus4: haven't that problem (iirc - should be rechecked)

but what is for sure is that since I use wu on the jolla phone this behaviour was alway present. Any ideas why the ports are not affected but the jolla is?

It will slow down Whatsup. Maybe there could be some "export/save conversation" function though

About voice messages: You need to install ultimate codec support from openrepos/warehouse
but be sure to enable the "sailfish_lib" repository first before installing to get the needed dependencies!

the memory consumption problem is most important
I check it used up 18-20% memory...........but sometimes it go down to 8-9%

Should I uninstall Dolphin Keyboard before future Sailfish OS updates?? I'm asking this because once I had to do "factory reset" to my Jolla after trying to install OS update, (there was an application installed from openrepos that jammed my Jolla).

So just a quick heads up to all you WhatsUp users. I have been blocked from using the service after a certain incident.

I was leaving a few groups but before doing so I wanted to set things straight. So the thing that got me banned (probably) was giving and revoking admin rights in bulk.

I have the list in front of me, where I can name and denounce folks from the admin privilege. It should get applied after I'm done by acknowledging all the changes (tick arrow on SailfishOS).
This apparently tried to communicate all the changes at once (or maybe you can't revoke admin rights or even remove folks from groups, you can only leave?) thus leading to my ban.

After quite a while I have finally been unblocked (send about 15 mails to them - yay! I was this close to leaving the service alltogether!)

So maybe we can stick to how the official apps workflow in these regards, even if the API allows for it someway or the other. That's how I got tracked down.

Now as I have a mail adress that could easily be linked to my username here - and just in case someone from WA is watching us - thanks for the unban and for all the fish. So long

One more thing: what happened to the don't send read notifications feature? Why is the pulleymenu disabled? I can still edit the whatsup.conf file to exclude folks but does it still work?

Joining whatsup again, Android app freezes all the time. For some reason I didn't get all my groups yet, but for now I'm happy. Thanks for the new update!

Some of my contacts are missing in 'Contacts', how can I recover them?
I had this problem some time ago, I've tried uninstall and install, but the problem isn't solved. Any idea?

0.2-3 was running in background wile installing 0.2-4 (I just forgot to quit from the menue). No matter, I just restarted and it worked!

I am always grateful for Whatsup, and just wondering if Cepi is still the one maintaining it or you? I donated last a while ago, and I think another donation is in order. Keep up the amazing work, Whatsup on MeeGo is sublime, but on Sailfish wow...:eek::eek::eek:

My Whatsup doesn't connect anymore (since today). Just switching between "connecting" and "disconnected". Anybody else having problems or is it just me?

Bah, it was just me. Or my operator, to be correct. There was proper 4g on Jolla, but somehow network was dead. It started working again after a while, and now it disconnected again. But anyway, Whatsup over wifi works like a charm.

I got blocked yesterday after trying to add a contact to a group conversation. It didn't seem to work in the first try, so I tried again.

May I ask: what did you tell them in order to get unbanned?

Hi. It just happened to me the same as you. I've tried to add a user to a group and next thing I knew I got disconnected. Then tried to register again and now it says I'm blocked. :(

Is sending an email to whatsapp the only solution?? :confused:

Hi till, jem555,

as I stated I send them about 15 mails asking to be unbanned because I did not violate any of their TOS.

I did that mostly via the WhatsApp android client (which got flagged as rooted via their logs that get attached) and my Symbian client trying to register my number there. Include your number and state your case.

Mostly I was in contact with italian support, but in the end a few times I managed to get hold of german support too. I think that's what did the trick for me in the end. Persistence!

However don't expect that procedure to work quickly or at all.

Maybe the devs can take this as a hint and further evaluate how group management actions deviate from the stock way of doing things. I will donate again soon I guess ;-)

For now I would take this as a warning and refrain from any group management so far, as long as we don't know what's causing this. I hope this is not the end of a functional WhatsApp client on SFOS and Harmattan!

Unfortunately I did violate their TOS by using an unofficial client, so the only solution seems to be use a different number and avoid group administration.

Or wait some month to see if the ban gets removed...

No.you not violate. You are using iPhone with official whaTzapp client and you are get banned. Please that there unbanned your number. They are asking for phone, firmware and whatzapp release. But Ian fighting 2 weeks now

Another time. It seems the poroblem is add contacts en an existing Group.
And this problem is an Harmattan/Sailfish Problem

I decided to use my landline number for whatsup, I registered it via WART and changed the credentials in my old whatsup.conf file.
For now I'll avoid any group admin stuff

the app work flawlessy for me (and i'm even admin to some groups without no problems at all)...i have only one problem...voice recordings...i know i need gstreamer from warehouse and all of it's dependencies but this help me only to play .ogg files inside the app...when someone send me some .aac recordings i have to open a filemanager, searching for the file (which is in a hidden folder) and listen to it via the media player...any solution to play .aac recordings via whatsup? :)

my landline is unable to receive sms ("no routes" message appearing sometimes in WART), so I got the call automatically after requesting it (via WART).

In theory, if someone sents me an sms to my landline it is read out by a computer voice, but whatsapp does not seem to support this on my provider

First mailing whatsapp that my whatsapp tell me that server response is blocked.
After this, Whatsapp respond with the faq and if it not solve the problem, asking for Phone type, OS version and Whatsapp version.

I took the info from my friends phone and send it to Whatsapp.
After 2 weeks recieve final mail that if it hapen again i will blocked permanently.
Now i could register my number again.
