Re: ANNOUNCE: Easy Debian Turbo-Charged Edition!

When I start Debian LXDE, I get the "Log out instead of closing this window" window and then that window just closes. The first time after a reboot the window is open for a little bit, and with further tries it closes quickly. So I think it fires up debian and then fails to start LXDE. Debian chroot works fine. This is after I uninstalled previous installations and reinstalled.

I do not know where to find the source for the Debian LXDE button. So can you give me the LXDE startup command, either for the native terminal (also starting the chroot) or for within the chroot? I can then let you know the error message if the problem is not an easy one. Thanks.

tda8190: I have no idea what's wrong. Are you running Diablo?

Entonian: It is very important that you download the new image file and delete the old one. The old image file didn't have LXDE installed, while the new one does.

If you are sure that you're using the new image file, then here's how to run LXDE manually:

First, open a (normal, maemo) terminal and run the following to put the icon in the right place:
Code:

sudo cp /usr/share/icons/hicolor/scalable/hildon/lxde.png /usr/share/pixmaps
You only have to run that command once, so that you can run LXDE from a terminal. Otherwise it crashes with an error about a missing icon.

The command that is run when you click on the icon is something like this:
Code:

hostwin LXDE /usr/bin/debwm 'this is a test'
The problem is that there are a lot of warning messages even when things are running smoothly. I guess you're going to have to post everything, however.

Thank you, qole. I had my .chroot pointing to the old version of the image file.

This sounds like what I was seeing when I upgraded from the first version install to the turbo version.

What I did was Close Debian from the menu, uninstall Easy Debian, delete the image file, reboot, and re-install everything.

After that, it worked fine for me. Not sure what the problem was.

Hi qole. Again, you da man!

Sorry if this has been asked (I searched....), but is there a way to install adobe flash player into iceweasel? I'm still very much a linux noob, so I tried to install the flash player tar.gz file via cli, and got "Your architecture...is not supported by the Adobe Flash Player Installer." My guess is that the reason for this is obvious to most around here, but a little help would be great!

Hi,

I just recieved my n810 yesterday and I played around with it and I love it so far and plan on using it as my mobile pentesting box for work. I would like to put easy debian on it. However, when I download the easy-deb I get a error message saying

Quote:

Unable to download easy-deb-chroot. Application package not found.
Any ideas?

Ah I figured it out, I had to change the distro option from chinook to diablo fault on my part.

Don't yell this too loudly, but....

This version of Easy Debian comes with the Adobe Flash Player already installed. Stskeeps figured out a way to hack the one that comes with our tablets into Debian. If you're having a version problem, maybe you should try copying the new version of libflashplayer.so from maemo to Debian... I'll do some more research before I give details...
