I feel a bit proud :)

Even if I'm a bit sad that we skiped Diablo's update and go directly to Fremantle, I feel that all the years of hacking our tablets something good came out of it.

Why do you think that it will not compete with the iphone? And why do you think that price point is not possible?

I think the RX-51 is a very promising device and Maemo is a very promising platform. I like them and I'm rooting for them, but I don't think it's fair to pit them with iPhonewhich is now in their 3rd iteration. Maybe in technical terms it can compete, but when you say it in general term (marketshare, popularity, customer satisfaction)... The Pre and Androids have much better chance going against the iPhone than NIT+Maemo at this point. IMHO.

Refresh my memory please... Why are you here? I mean on a Maemo enthusiasts board... You spend a lot of time here. We see your remarks in just about every active thread. Whats the point of your involvement?

Just wondering... :)

Omg! Amazing. I'll buy it instantly once it gets out. This is the device I've been waiting for ever since I bought my last normal phone.

Hi,

I am new here and as a non-native English speaker, I apologize for possible misspellings in advance.

I wonder that nobody has commented on the long "vertical OS" part of the first review. If this "vertical development" is true, the N900 is just the first gadget of much bigger family. We should see Maemo phones, NIT's/MIT's, tablets and netbooks in the future... or should we?

Another interesting point is lately announced Nokia-Microsoft cooperation project on mobile office development. Should we see MS office package and sync with Maemo in the future or is it just for S60? How long will the S60 hold the place of business workhorse? Can Maemo take its place?

I would very gladly see wider selection of hardware and software for Maemo platform. Many years NIT hardware was the best in its category (superior screen), but not any more. There is still not enough applications for Maemo. The platform needs also the support from the commercial software side I think and right now the Maemo OS popularity is just too small. Out there are very good PIM's, e-readers (for DRM) and many other special applications, not available for Maemo. This will change soon, _if_ the Maemo family grows bigger.

Very nice device.
Good it will be out this year, because I really want this device and I was waiting for it for some time now.

From review it states the touch-screen is as good as iPhone, the graphical effects are smooth and nice, it has flick scrolling and I think also kinetical scrolling.

One thing - does it have multi-touch or this is a patent of Apple? Has Windows Mobile or Android multi-touch? Not that multi-touch is a big deal in itself but it improves the usability.

Oooh, I didn't know one needed to be a Maemo enthusiast to post here.

I bought the N800 the first week it was out. It's a matter of price, though. I'm very happy with my new Kindle. This would have to wait for awhile. I think the odds are against my ever buying one. I'm not interested in phones.
